Dave and DD Tara at a cooking class (Culinary Institute of America)

Good morning Goldens

Last Saturday Tara and Dave took a basic cooking class at the CIA in Hyde Park.
Tara has been there before. One day courses. ... She used to live in Hyde Park.

This morning I decided to weigh myself (don't do that too often). Dropped two.
Of the eight pounds I put on when Wayne was here.
Now I won't weigh myself for ten weeks. Should lose another seven in that time.
Have to be in my black jeans before my Louisiana trip.

Doris: I believe the Japanese Maple was on Mother's Day 2001 (or maybe 2002)

Judy: We have had a number of mild winters in a row. - Maybe three or four?
I'm thinking we are so overdue.

It's a little cool here this morning at 50,but the sun is shining nicely.I'm watching a kitty charm something in a tree,it really has his attention.I took the screen and the pane partions out of the back windows so I could see the animals in the back yard better.I can sit here at my desk and see the animals at play outside.
Got most of the outdoor stuff I wanted done yesterday, but it's a never ending thing with animals.
Best be on my way.

We are cool here also, I'm hoping to get some weeding done while the temps are low. I watched bluebirds all morning, guess they are back for a while. Winter here is the time for bird watching. Gladys, I have a cat that stalks everything. He particularly loves lizards. I have to rescue one or two every day. Jezzie, congrats on the weight loss. I haven't weighed in a long time. I try to stick to lc but I haven't been very good lately. waving to all who follow, have a productive Tues. Glenda

Hi all

Not much new here. Hot during the day and cool evenings.

Been getting my act back together foodwise. Not stepping on the scales for awhile though.

I've lost 22 on that "DTour" plan, so I'm happy so far.

Had veggie omelet at the high school breakfast this AM, and got most of my bike time in already.

Wish we had some rain here though, they say maybe by Friday. Then the news guys whine about their "weekend" being ruined.

Be back later gang.

Have a good day, what's left of it.

Howdy everyone. I'm late getting here. I had my pastel painting class this morning, then went shopping at AC Moore. I stopped at Lowes on the way home to buy a gift certificate for my youngest, Anita. This is to replace their broken dishwasher. She and my SIL Jarrod are done. I can cross them off my Christmas list. My granddauther, Jamie, is done too. I'm really ahead of the game this year. Then a stop at the health food store. For some reason, I'm exhausted.

Cathy and I are going out for dinner tonight. I think she might leave tomorrow for Texas. When I'm tired, its a eat out night.

Jezzie, what it is that Tara and Dave cooked? I can't tell from the picture. She is so lucky to be able to take those classes. Congratulations on the lost weight.

Gladys, it sounds like a nice window set up you have. I don't have to look out a window to see animals. They all live in here with me.

Glenda, I haven't seen a bluebird in decades.

Babette, congrats on another pound gone. Hope your knee improves.

Hi to Lainey, Doug and Doris. See ya later.

Been busy out of routine since I fell on Sat. trying to clean windows. Had a splint and today saw the ortho man and he put a fiber glass cast on. Still painful to use but happy for the cast instead of the splint. Left hand thankgoodness.
Thought I would share a pict with you all.

Thanks Jezzie for the chef's picture. Congrats on that 2 pounds gone. I think I found them.

Verleen good work on getting a head start on Christmas. I have 2 down.

GLadys I have a feeder out there for the birds but they are not showing up.

Begete are you still taking your Alli? Congrats on the loss.

One of my sons is always sending me pics of his injuries. My youngest told me to leave that wine alone.

Oh Loretta, that is a big cast,

today was so beautiful that I dried my hair in the warmth of the sun on the front steps sitting at a tiny table having lunch and looking a Christmas Catalogs. Loved it!
Now is very chilly so I am closing up the place and getting some supper and planning to watch a bit of TV tonight. I like the biggest loser but the tears are getting a bit too much. I so hope that bioche one gets her come uppence tonight... we'll see. Don't know what else is on.
Need to hot roll my hair for some fluff- this poker straight gray stuff (hair was never this straight before) is real ageing.
Congrats on the weight gone all yall. Too skert to step on the scales here but am feeling lighter. No weighing till New Years Day unless my program at the Clinic calls for it which it prolly does.

Loretta....cast looks like it weighs A LOT!
Jeezie - great start to losing the weight....and smart for getting on top of it instead of saying...oh well might as well wait until after LA trip...I loved New Orleans! Would love to go back some day.
My inlaws came by and gave me the cutest little stuffed turkey...made me feel good, they are so sweet
Laundry is everywhere!!! I helped my DD get her room straightened around (she's been busy and let it get out of control) lots of dirty clothes on the floor (typical teenagers)...anyway she's stressed due to getting her essays and applications in line for the early decision Nov. 15th deadline......by Dec. hopefully she will know where she is going next year...i'm excited for her!
stupid dryer broke yesterday....replaced the high heat fuse ... 20 dollar...keep your fingers crossed it still works. Our microwave is starting to lose it....fewer and fewer buttons are working....i'm looking around...it has to fit in the 'built in' space, but it's made for the larger ones.
Lainey...I bought some hot rollers for my hair....trying to grow it long but don't have the patience or the time <----but then I think maybe it's about time that i start taking better care of myself, you know? Perhaps a bit of vanity might be a good thing. I think how nice it would be to wear it in a bun again, I wish I had my sisters nice thick hair, mines getting thinner as well. I'm going to the hairdresser Wednesday. I was going to get it cut short, but I think I'll just have her trim the ends and keep growing it out.
Have a great evening all.

Thanks Way2 ... Actually the two pounds just left. I didn't start anything yet.

Verleen: I'll be seeing Tara tomorrow so I'll ask her what it is and get some details.

Oh Loretta what a pain (and nuisance). Love the wine comment.

Doris: Briefly speaking what is 'd tour' plan? On my plan when I goof; I YOU-turn.

Glenda: How lovely. Bluebirds were here for several years in a row. Not this year.
Was loving someone's bear picture. But I guess I should be careful what I wish for. lol.

Gladys: Still laughing about the big casino in the ***. Wouldn't it be lov-er-ly.

Hi to everyone else.

Almost forgot.

I got two gift cards for my birthday. Had a ball at Barnes & Noble this am.
A debut novel ... and two Alice Hoffman's.

* The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane
by Katherine Howe

She brings us into the academic world of Connie Goodwin,
a grad student at Harvard in 1991. It is also a story of
the Salem witch trials in 1692.

Author's Biography
Katherine Howe's ancestors settled Essex County, Massachusetts,
in the 1620s and stayed there through the 20th century.
Family members included Elizabeth Proctor, who survived the Salem
witch trials, and Elizabeth Howe, who did not.

Thank goodness for fiber glass for that cast Loretta, otherwise it would really weight a bunch, like carrying a weight around. Take care, go slowly, and how do you shower or whatever anyway?

Jezzie, "DTour" plan is to keep away from diabetes, or to lower blood sugars and lose weight, actually just another variation of low carb, which must have 1000 different ones by now anyway, but I like it so far, it allows dark chocolate and peanut butter (I don't like peanut butter) but dh does.

Gladys, do the bluebirds stay where you live now, or do they go further north of you in southern Louisiana??

Verleen, I can't imagine being done with Christmas shopping already, but we don't have many people in our family in the first place, and no little kids at all. Hats off to you for being early and getting it done!! Are you going down to Texas for the holidays, or do you know yet? I hope Cathy finds a good job when she moves.

Way2, you are lucky to be able to fix appliances in your house, I wouldn't be able to even have a clue what to do really, you are one smart cookie!!

Begete, when do you think your knee will be more comfortable feeling?

Hi Glenda, did you in fact get your planned weeding finished today?

Lainey, did you watch the Loser show tonight? They do tend to try to bring on the tears way too much on that show, some producer thinks the public needs to see that I guess, to keep viewers watching during sweeps.

Howdy Doug, are you able to walk daily again? How is Jo's knee?

I fixed game hen for supper, one of dh's favorites. Tomorrow should be a good day for fish. Do you guys eat fish often? We do, more than ever since dh's illness.

Have a pleasant enough evening folks.

Jezzie, how neat to go to a "real" book store and buy what you like!!!

How often does Tara take those CIA classes, are they every few months or something like that?

I am still on the prowl for the elusive H1N1 shots!!! No one seems to know "anything" anywhere in California as to when they will get the vaccine.

Culinary classes - Actually I think it takes the planets to align with Mars to pick a class.
When she sees one she likes. Can afford it. And she has the time. lol.
The last one before Saturday was a soup class in Nov. 2007. - This one was a birthday
present to Dave.

She was a great cook before the classes. ... And she sure didn't learn much from me.

Checking in late today. Not feeling the greatest. Our morning temps have been well below freezing and at 25 this morning. I'm glad I managed to get all my spring bulbs planted last month as the ground will soon be too frozen to work. Of course, our golden, Max, has no trouble at all digging out entires sections that I have planted. I just hope that he doesn't teach the cat to do the same.

I'm going back to bed and hope to be back to normal tomorrow.

coming in to say nighty night....

Judy- are you Feb Deb? Gosh, it is sure cold where you are. I hope you get better quickly... my cold lasted way longer than usual for me and I felt just really bad for days and actually in bed for 3 days which a cold never put me into the bed before. Just give in to it if you can and drink lots of hot chicken broth.
Doris, yes I see Biggest Loser and the one I disliked and still do got voted off. I do not like a head game player in life and she was a real player. Of course game playing is important but it is more physical there and not about betrayal. The weight they lose there is just amazing to me but I am happy taking it slow. I do wish the hungries would leave me alone at night but all I have to do is remember to have some hot tea with benefiber and that would help a lot.
Yawning my head off so I'll bbt.
Let's dream real good dreams tonight even if we do not remember them.
e.
Oh, I saw blue birds in a Aviery at a Natural Museum in Newport News, Va. and could not take my eyes off them- so very beautiful... no wonder the term "blue bird of happiness" came to be and Disney put them in all of his animations.

Judy. ...

My older son (Jamie) was telling me he thought that the squirrels sat in the trees
and watched him plant his bulbs.

Sounds like we are running about five degrees warmer than you. - Been waking up
to 30*. 50 - 55 in the daytime.

Yes, I am Judy and I made my debute into this world in February, hence the name FebDeb. People often think that my name is Debbie. I slept really well last night and hope that helps with whatever I am fighting off. We have rain and snow showers this morning so perhaps it's time to dust off the treadmill.
I don't think that the outdoor damp will help my headache any.

We have bluebirds here in the summer. They actually nest and raise two sets of young each year. The parents are lovely to watch when they are searching for feed for the young. The Orioles too are some of my favorites.
