Jezzie, are we all alone???? This is spooky- I'm going back to see if there is another roll call.
Elaine

Nope, just this Friday one.
I am having a tuff time getting into gear today... no motivation or plenty of it but not its not pushing me today... must need protein.
I have a foody question- I want to add 2 ozs of dark chocolate per day (bed time) to my diet for blood pressure (don't have high but don't want it either). I have a big container of unsweet Giradeli Cocoa Powder and 2 giant containers (I mean big WOW) of Hersey's Cocoa Powder unsweet- is that considered "DARK" chocolate? What could I make with that using Truvia? even just a syrup for fruit drizzles? HELP
Gonna try a git her going now.

Good morning

One more day in Boulder City then off to Needles tomorrow morning.

Temps have been: lows in the 50's, highs in the 80's and plenty of sun.

Good Morning gang.

Lainey, I can have 1 oz. of really dark chocolate every day on the DTour plan, but I buy the 72% Cocoa bar, and I have one piece of that, 66 calories. If you have the 3 pieces that are considered one serving, it's 200 calories, and that adds up to alot per week, plus all the things you eat each and every day. You would have to stop the daily avocado, which is over 300 calories a day, plus 319 of those calories are from FAT, and that's way too much for one body, unless you are a runner or something like that. That's the hard facts. Blood pressure meds are better than counting on chocolate to bring it down, no matter what the chocolate making companies and ads tell you, they are trying to sell their stuff as health food, and it's really not that good of an idea. Mixing the cocoa powder with stuff will lead you astray, I say this because I've done this kind of thing before, and it messed me up, back in 2005 and 2006. Doesn't matter if you use sugar free stuff, even cocoa powder has calories and calories do count. That's just my opinion regarding what happened to me back then messing with cocoa powder and other things.....................sorry.

It's cold here, frozen, heater and woodstove feel good though.

Glad to see Verleen is back, in some form anyway. These sicknesses do a number on us allright.

Have to rush off and do kitchen chores, finished most of my exercise though, we got up late today and it's a bummer catching up.

Thanks Doris,

Like I said my pressure is actually a little low so no worries there.... The info I got is from the AMA on Ediets. The fat in the Avacado is considered the excellent fat and is the only source of fat I use most of the time and I am losing weight so that will stay. Some days I may use a teas. of Enova Oil in the entire day and more if I am out of avacacos. The av is a replacement for EVOO. On the days I use Newman's Own Lites I skip the avacado and Enova. I want my day to consist of 5 foods a day and no more- the same foods with rare exceptions. All food is candy to me and I cannot be in the candy store anymore.
Today I doubled the ankle weights and hardly notice the difference. I wonder what step increase they would equal... I will contine to strive for the 12,000 steps but man that is tuff. Yesterday was close to 7,000.
bbl doing some potting shed and garage re-arranging so the summer stuff can be more easily moved out to them.

I think certain milestones remind us - we are in the autumn of our life.
(In my case more like the winter. lol.)

I agree avocados have a 'good' fat. ..... I think half of one is good 'for me'.
Most of my fat used to come from cheese and bacon. Now it's nuts, salmon and
olive oil.

My plan allows dark chocolate every other day. I don't follow it exactly as
written most of the time. Hence my loss has been at a snails pace.
But I do feel good - and that is paramount to me.

The Fall months seem to bring with them meloncholy thoughts, reminders of past times both good and bad. Funny, there have been sentimental posts on other Senior boards I'm on lately too. My No.1 son will be 35 on the 22nd of this month, same as your Birthday Jezzie. And since we had our 40th. Anniversary, dh and I have been rehashing moments in our lives together too, and wonder and worry comes into play. I guess this comes with aging, and we each have to come to terms with it in our own way, but it's normal to feel some sadness. At least, that's what the "experts" say anyway. And so it goes.

Hi All,
I have to agree with everybody Gladys....I too am feeling a bit "blue"....I thought it was due to my 'baby' turning 16...but I think it's also the change in seasons. I try to focus on how blessed I have been, and that helps a bit. Sometimes you just need a good cry though.
I think it's healthy to express your emotions....ya can't help what you feel.

It's going to get down to 15-20 degrees tonite and then we have an 8am soccer game! BRRRRRRRR! goodbye annuals for sure.....

I have to say, my weight was up one pound today
BUT
my measurements have gone back down
AND
I have on a pair of jeans that I couldn't get buttoned the end of summer.
My doctor had to move my follow visit to 2 weeks later.... 2 more weeks to lose some weight

We are approaching the vortex of 'holidays'.....DON'T get sucked in
Halloween cheats lead to, "oh well it's Thanksgiving" to ...."what the heck I'll wait till after Christmas" and then I've gain 30 pounds.....
NOT THIS YEAR!!!! I'm going to enter 2010 lighter than 2009!!!

The fall months used to depress me so bad, but since we moved here, not so much. I think it has something to do with the sunshine. Right now we are experiencing a real heat wave. Sure doesn't seem like Oct. My pool is 92 degrees, DGS is here enjoying it. My kitchen remodel is in full swing. Finally got back online today. We moved my computer and something happened. Have a happy Sat. all. Glenda
