weight lose with none or very little exercise

Hello all,
new to the site but not new to the low carb diet. I have lost a lot of weight over the years but it always seems to come back so I'm back on the diet. I have talked my wife into being on it also this time. The main problem is that my wife is disabled. She had cancer 25 years ago and now the radiation pain. This is very debilitating and she can't really exercise. Is this a futile cause or have people been able to lose weight on low carb diets. I don't want her to get discouraged so any help would be good.

I have a bad knee and can't afford to have it repaired, so cannot exercise at all. It has not stopped my weight loss - still losing a pound every week. Down 38 pounds so far.

Good luck to your wife.

Thanks for your reply. I hope one day you will be able to get your knee fixed. I'm sure my wife will like hearing this.

In 2003 I lost fifty-nine pounds in eleven months. No exercise the first three months.
Lost just fine. I did slow walking the last eight months.

Welcome aboard!

Just chiming in here. Weight loss can occur without exercise that is a given. The rate of loss might take a little longer, but low carb is definitely the place to start.

Hope you continue to provide the support your wife needs in her weight loss quest. Being a support person is a big job. Low carb is not really a diet but becomes your way of life regards to eating. The changes you make will help you maintain that loss too.

As one of the gals put it---
dieting makes you look good in clothers, exercising makes you look good naked.
Well, since no one ever sees me naked anymore, I'm not really exercising. Might start doing some strength training soon, because my muscles are getting weak.

Thanks for the reply, We've been married for 35 years and we have supported each other for the whole time. I don't plan on stopping now. Time will tell how the way of life pans out.

Well the days of running around the house naked are long gone so there goes the exercise.

Hello Bill and Welcome!

The advice above is all excellent and true. Losing weight is a great benefit to our health and improving what we already have.
If your dear Wife is up to a little chair exercise, she could start out gently to increase the muscle and build some strength. Muscle also burn more calories and increases our metabolic rate. I am sure you two will tweak this to suit your lifestyle.

Low Carb is a great way to go!
Glad you found us. Come back often.

Thanks Susan, yes we will tweak it as we progress. As I stated I've done this diet many a time but without Kris being on it also it becomes hard to keep it up. This time with her wanting to lose weight and seeing that I have done it in the past, we may be able to succeed in a life changing diet. Here's to everyone that has
