Roll Call: Tuesday, December 2nd
![]() Florida ... winter sunset Good Morning ... Have to say "you all" have incredible sunsets in the South. I'm sure there is a scientific reason for that. There is one for everything else. Angle of the sun closer to the equator? I feel a Google moment. Janie: Thanks for the clue ... yes I will Google you latest clue. Won't answer. Not fair. I'm the second one again up this morning. Need to set my alarm. Off to the magical world of cyberspace. |

Good Morning Jezzie and All that drop by today!
![]() Thank you for the lovely sunset. Yes, they are beautiful in the South.Missing them already. We only have a couple of inches of snow down and the temps are quite mild if you are dressed for it. No driving problems yet either. Well, I started back LCing yesterday. I think I made a good effort. I may have eaten more of the right stuff but that will settle down after the first 3 days, if I can keep it up. So far, so good (it is only 10a.m.) on my second day!Hope to BBL... Susan ![]() |

Good morning, everyone!
![]() Just a quick run through right now before before my day gets out of control. I have errands to run this am so have to do hair and stuff. I keep thinking I should just stop and establish a new "natural" look for myself. Scary! Jezzie: Another beautiful picture. Sunrises/sets over water are so spectacular. Janie: Is it Isla de Mona? Lainey: Hope you have a less exhausting day today. Well, have to run. I think mom is getting up. BBL if I can. k |

Janie, you really snagged Kris on this guessing game....lol. Oh yeah, she'll BBL for sure. I don't know what island it is.
Such a funny shape, not rounded by the movement of the ocean. It must be in some protected spot. Janie, I just wanted you to know that I've kept healing thoughts for you on your back problem. I've felt bad and sent silent condolences to Loretta and Lainey and whenever ever anyone needed a hug. I keep up with your little daily diary here. I'm just not active on any of my forums anymore, not even the plant ones.I've been reading with interest about your man Jezzie. I noticed all those hints and was waiting for someone to jump on them......lol Congrats on finding a special person. Has your son Darrin, the cop, investigated him yet? to everyone and to those who were wondering about me. I'm doing great and can now keep pretty busy and far less time for the computer. Next year, my dh and I are going on a train ride to Glacier National Park in Montana. We reserved a roommette on the train. That's a big thing for me to take this trip. My daughter returned home this year, somewhat permanently, from CA. She is just not a west coast girl I guess. I keep pretty busy with traveling, growing my gesneriads in my bedroom, my succulents and orchids in the greenhouse, showing my plants, scrapbooking, Master Gardener program, my parrots, my oil painting and art classes. Then this year there was major work on the house when the old plaster ceiling in the bedroom fell down, en masse, but not on us, furnace blew up and the whole house needed fire/smoke restoration, repainting, etc., not to mention a new furnace.....then the day the contractors were to start I was admitted to ICU with epiglottitis for 5 days.....retina detached.....holy smoke, it sounds like a lot, but it didn't feel that way. My biggest challenge was to keep my dh calm through all this. Things are much better now all around; we just had to dodge a few rough spots. Overall, I feel very fortunate, esp at Thanksgiving time.....as it get me to thinking about all I have to be thankful for. Now I really need to get going.....grocery store, Master Gardener office, and Christmas shopping for my daughter....perhaps some scrapbooking later. I have two albums to get done for my daughter and her family for Christmas. I do each grandchild's life of that year in a scrapbook. They love them, so I keep doing them. My biggest beef lately concerns an early Christmas gift I got from my dh. So it isn't that big of a beef, is it? I got a hi-tech camera with a box of accessories of lens, filters, light ring, external flash, etc. I have always only been a point and shoot girl. The camera is only 4" by 2.5 " big. The manual is not much bigger; its 3"x4"x3" thick. I'm using a magnifying glass to read the manual and to see the things on all the dials and itty-bitty buttons on the camera. And I am still having trouble reading everything (How much is an electron microscope?). Ever try to take a picture using a magnifying glass with a camera? Oh the camera came set to Chinese. DH finally got it reset to English as I'm not even one word fluent in Chinese. I'm slowly learning how to use the camera. Emphasis on SLOWLY. I got the date and time set for example. Just don't ask me about aperture, shutter speed, white balance and all those lens and filters yet. In the end, I may just set it to auto. and keep some of my thinning hair.

![]() ![]() ![]() Next, I want to congratulate Sharon, who at the end of yesterday's thread, got the right answer to the avatar puzzle.......drum roll......Christmas Island! ![]() PS, Lainey, not sure what all I told you when I wrote out instructions for you before, but I have changed from Image Shack to Photo Bucket for posting photos. You know what this means, Sharon, you are going to have to start posting more to defend your title. Gold Star for sure.

Well I'm glad the mystery island is solved. Christmas Island, how appropriate. Thanks for the quiz Janie. Lots of thinking and fun. Thanks too for posting those pictures of Lainey's DD and the PUP. That is a big cat for sure. Lainey that DD of yours is beautiful.
Verleen thanks for all of your kind thoughts for me in my sorrow. It seems so fresh still and Thanksgiving was made a lot easier for me by having my family with me this year. You are one busy lady. That train trip sounds like a neat thing to do. Someday. Kris sorry that your mom fell, but thank goodness she did not break anything. It sure sounds like she is getting a little forgetful and disoriented at times. I'm sure you will keep the doc informed, maybe there is a medication that can help to keep her mind clear. How is that new washer and dryer going for you. I know that is a real treat for sure. Jezzie, spring will be here before you know it. Let's see 4 months and about 20 days. How nice to have that meeting to look forward to. I'm happy for you and your SO. It makes life so nice to have someone else. The funeral was today for the gal at church whose husband died suddenly. There was a nice crowd there and his estranged children came from Michigan for the funeral. Doris I sure do understand when you say you are at Dh's beck and call. You are his sole caregiver. That can take a toll. I think you work that exercise in just fine and you need that to keep yourself filled with those good endomorphins. It is so easy to become weary. Hi to those that follow.

JANIE- thanks a million for the pic posting for me.
She IS beautiful isn't she? WELL, you know I think she is!
Busy, busy but getting stuff done and happy about that. Still there is lots to finish off but I get so very tired by night time which is freaking 5: pm. Verleen, I hear you on the reading small print.. I cannot seem to see anything anymore but did find a really good glass that hooks to a table edge and bends in all sorts of ways. There is only one show to watch tonight so I will do some more little things about the house. I tried to sign up for the Plan D medicare for drugs and got no where so ended up book-marking the application site to try to sign up on-line. All things of this type just make me shiver as I feel so lost- gotta get it done though as I am almost out of Rx's and need to pay less for meds. BBL- going to watch The Mentalist later and my usual Jeopardy. Jeepers- most of the questions I lived through and that sure makes me feel a bit old. Brrr this room is too cold and I might bring in the little heater or just turn on the central heat for 10 mins or so to take the chill off. Need to put on a big sweater as well. Elaine, Va. that is me frozen blue! lol

Susan, a situation like that is an emergency. Wear your tightest outfit, and keep your eyes on the two heaviest people in the room, drink lots of coffee or tea and smile..................
That has worked for me a time or two.Kris, I'm sorry to read about your Mom falling, scary for her and for you, but at least she didn't break anything. Sigh. Verleen, I'm happy to read what you have been up to also, sorry you had the bad health incidents, but at least you are better now and can keep busy. Heck, you are way busier than I am for sure!!! It is probably good that your daughter moved back there again, and you have her closer now. I have to leave quickly, will try to get back on later, someone is calling me. Doris |

WTG Sharon.
Loretta: Thanks. It will probably not be until in May. Yes, this was an unexpected blessing. It's funny. Not too long ago I gave someone advice who was looking for love. I told her to relax. Love is like a butterfly and if you don't try to catch it ... it may alight on your shoulder. Who knew. A self-fulfilling prophesy. lol. Your daughter is stunning Lainey. Naturally. Look at her Mom. And those cuddly babies. ![]() Doris: Laughing with delight at your advice to Susan. Reminded me of public speaking advice. Picture the audience naked. lol. See you in the am. .

Hello Again
I left LCF to try a totally vegan WOE. I lost 10 lbs. a month for a total of 30 lbs. However I was getting pretty darn BORED with trying to come up with a million and one ways to cook beans! LOL. Most of the food was pretty bland unless I used a whole lot of spices. Besides my husband hated that way of eating. So I decided to add in meat--mainly poultry and fish and some low fat dairy and lo and behold it started looking more and more like the South Beach Diet. So I decided to return and begin the South Beach Diet. I am actually doing the new South Beach Supercharged plan. Hopefully I can keep up my weight loss and eat delicious food at the same time. Anyhow, I'm glad to be back. ![]()

Hi Fluffy, I have to share with you that it was the South Beach Diet that made my weight loss happen for me. It's a very pleasent way of losing. Now that I am at goal I maintain by eating the YOU on a Diet way by Dr. Oz. That WOE is like SB but with a few tweaks.
I'm more a lurker than a poster but sure like this group of ladies. I wish you great success! ![]() |
