Roll Call: Wednesday, November 19th
![]() Romania in the fall Good Morning all. Sorry I didn't make it back yesterday. Busy plus a wee bit under the weather. Nothing to speak of so I won't. ![]() Reading about the parents. I think in a way it's harder to lose them when older. They have always been there. I lost Dad when I was 35. Mom when I was 50. Only sibling (sister) when I was 61. Never tried any of those cold/flu remedies. Pretty healthy in that respect. Yesterdays picture: I think Bannerman was an arms dealer. Not sure. Read the history a couple of years ago. There are tours to the island. Expensive. About $50 I think. Well you all have a great day. Windy and cold here. |

Good Morning/Afternoon and Evening to all,
Just a check in so I will get the notices of post.
It is cold here too but very bright sunshine so all AI need to get and stay warm is to move about a lot. BBL after the morning rituals are accomplished and I get a break in the day. Janie, your post last night was beautiful and says it for me as well. Elaine, ![]() |

I agree with Lainey. Janie you express our sentiments so well. Thanks.
Hope your Dad is doing well. Seems like there are tons of people out shopping at our local Wally World. Where are they all coming from??? Gas here is down to 1.73. If you wait a few days it will go lower. Jezzie interesting facts about your parents dying when you were so young plus losing your only sister. My thoughts go out to you. Did your parents get to meet your grandchildren? I always felt bad that my Dad never got to meet a one of them. He died young at 56. My mom lived into her 80s and baby sat a lot for me. We all had a grand time and I remember lots of laughter with my kids and their grandma. Need to go and bake a cake and make a broccoli salad for tomorrow"s funeral dinner. Beautiful weather here, sunny but very windy. Kerri how wonderful that your parents are doing so well. Do you live close to them? Hi to those that follow.

Hi ladies.
Elderly parents can be a big concern and a worry..Gary and I are "orphans"..But it was so painful seeing our folks suffer and we are assured that they are in a much better place now. We have been having some nice weather...and hopefully next week we all will have good travel weather. DS21 had an interview with Folger's in KCity for a summer internship. He doesn't drink coffee, but he thought this would a great job for him. If he gets the job, he might live with his sister/husband for the summer. Who knows??? Hope you all are doing okay and getting ready for Thanksgiving.........Shop early and get organized is my "motto" this year..![]()

Hello to everyone,
Didn't get too much done today but did get all the laundry caught up- last week there was some leaking on the floor so I was really sweating doing the wash but today's 4 loads did not leak a drop (I did medium sized loads only so I must have put in too much the last wash day). Added to the donation bags and will go to drop quite a lot off tomorrow as I have group therapy in the general neighborhood of the Childrens Hospital Thrift Store. I need a few pairs of pants so will browse the Thrift Store just a little. Then I will pick up Wall-e at Wall-Mart. GET GAS- it is low for sure now.
It is very, very cold here so I turned up the heat in the garage for the Fur Beloveds and they loving it- warmer than the house. There is something on tv tonight that I watch at 9: but I cannot remember what it is... bed at 10: tonight so I will read a bit and stay off the Solitaire game here on the computer the holds me fast for far too long at a time. Carolyn, no plans for Thanksgiving as yet- will look into that Church serving the Charity Dinner to volunteer or just eat there and make a donation- beats being alone. Karen, I love that those horses have you to care for them- that is so special... God Bless you and all the lucky animals to have you. BBL I will play that game for a bit now and then I can say no more for this day. E. ![]()

Was it CSI New York that you watch Lainey?? Hope you remembered whatever it was. It's good that your washer is ok after all, that would be a bummer to have to have that repaired.
I've never, ever played any game on the computer, but it must be on here somewhere because my sons can play them. That's funny Carolyn, that your son could work for Folger's but doesn't drink coffee!!! Does he at least enjoy the smell?? They say even just the smell perks people up! ![]() Jezzie, your mentions of your parents and sister, makes me sad but what can we do who are left? I had not thought about it, but I was 35 when my Father died too. Back in 1982, and we had just moved up here. He did live to at least play with the oldest boy and see the youngest one in his highchair. Seems like the older one gets, this time of year brings out all sorts of happy/sad memories. I bought on of the last $5.99 turkeys at Safeway, so I will fix that, and dh's Mom will come up unless the weather gets nasty or she does not feel like it. That Feather River Canyon can be a dangerous drive in bad weather. She belongs to the Grange, and has lots of friends, so she has told us she would not be unhappy if we went somewhere else for dinner that day. lol I'd like to try to make a Butternut Squash soup, even if only for myself, so will check at Wal Mart next Tuesday to pick one up and give it a go. I have a recipe that is not fattening that I will use. We received another statement of one of dh's medical bills today, it was for $10,000 for those 2 shots he gets once a month, and they billed us ONE CENT !!!!!!! After dh's big blood test early this AM, we decided to try out a coffee shop in that other town, a little old fashioned type place like you see on the Food Network. Well, it was ok, but this afternoon both of us got sick, dh even had to go to bed for awhile, so we won't be going back there anymore. ![]() Have a good evening friends. Doris |

Hi Doris,
No, I never watch the CSI N.Y. I looked in the paper and there is nothing I watch on Wednesdays I guess. Tomorrow is a fav though "Survivor". I like it when there is only one or 2 shows to watch and really like it if they are on before 10: so far Boston Legal is the only late one- I sure will miss that show next year.
Golly it is so very cold so I am going to get under my cozy, elec. blankey and sleep and sleep and then sleep some more. Gladys, I think about you not sleeping and wonder if your room is quiet and dark enough? One thing I do is really try to get up early in the morning as sleeping in too late and I am wakefull at night. I have never had the problem of wakeing up after going to bed to sleep for the night. I am saying some prayers for you to sleep well because I admire and respect people that care for little and all animals. Try thinking pictures about your cats asleep sunning themselves- that should make you drowsy. bbt e. va. |

When you read on other sites and boards, seems like many people our ages have sleep problems, either all the time or now and then, but just don't sleep as they used to. We talk about this at our breakfast get together in fact, we are all in the same age range, and seem to have the same aches and pains too, lol. Perhaps our age does have something to do with this??? What do you guys think? I notice I have trouble during the week before, including and just after the full moon.........
I hope you are warm and cozy Lainey! What do you do if the power goes out? Do you have comforters too?? Doris |

Several years ago, when my Mother visited us, she would rub Mentholatum on her knees at night, and under her nose, she said it helped her sleep. She slept in our bedroom during this visit. So as I aged, I bought Mentholatum and tried using that under my nose, which made me not a welcome addition to our bedroom..................then, several years ago, I asked my Mother if she needed some Mentholatum, I would buy her some and bring it when we visited. She said, "Oh no, I haven't used that junk in years, it made me smell like an old lady", LOL LOL LOL.......................
I just noticed I still have 2 large jars of Mentholatum in the medicine cabinet that I haven't opened in years, lol. ![]() Doris |
