Roll Call: Thursday, June 26th

Good Morning ...

The picture is from an article about a guy who has a $29 a month electric bill.
He even has a solar oven. The bike intrigued me. It's electric - charged by the sun.
He uses it to go shopping. Pretty neat. But of course I'd get killed on our roads.
Plus this inner city kid never learned how to ride a bike anyway.

Off to get some coffee ... be back later.

On the not so pretty side of life this morning:

Puppy mill - over 700 animals seized
Lyles, TN (US)
Authorities said the raid at the farm of Patricia Adkisson was the largest in Tennessee's history.

Pet-Abuse.Com - Animal Abuse Case Details: Puppy mill - over 700 animals seized - Lyles, TN (US)

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter".

On the flip side ... have I ever mentioned (maybe fifty times) that I love my supermarket.
Yesterday when I got there they were just finishing the supermarket carts "steam cleaning"
and wheel alignment.

When I left the two guys had the ones that look like big toy cars the kids sit in up on a lift.
They were checking the undersides and repairing wheels.

The cashier, Shawn, had news of her latest grandchild . A little girl born with strawberry blonde hair
just like hers.

Today we are expecting another thunder storm day. Why should today be different than any other day. lol.

Hugs to the stressed.

Good Morning from Muggyville!

Jezzie, we are in Thunder Alley again today.I am off to care for Auntie 10-4 today. We are going to put together her memorial and fight with each other.

So yesterday was not QUITE as accomplishment-filled as the day prior but I DID find a gallon of paint in a green I liked half-price at TruValue and DH and I spray painted ( he has a gun) the wicker chest and chaise lounge I had unearthed from the garage/basement. Boy, do they look slick! We are going to paint the swing as well. I also bought the charcoal grey to do the porch floors but that may not happen for a while if the humidity persists. I also found out that TruValue will deliver mulch! I hope I can arrange a delivery for Friday.

I am gradually getting the jobs done that I had put off for summer and I owe my energy level to LCing.

Be back in a while. Coffee is ready.

Lin

Good morning from just about to have a thunderstormville!

Off to the attorney this morning to turn in some documents he needs and that I finally found.

Mom is so tuckered out from our day out yesterday that I can't get her up to have breakfast before I leave. I think she'll sleep until I get back. I should only be gone for an hour or so.

BBL.

Thanks for the pic on that thrifty guy. Good for him. Funny my DH was saying he was thinking of getting a Vesper a scooter type bike to go to work. He would take the less busier roads, a throw back to our hippie days huh?
I couldn't read about the puppies I see or hear headlines like that and I have to skip them as it really bothers me for months.

Lin, Enjoy the planning and fighting today. Sounds like you are sprucing up your outdoors.

Kris, Big Hugs and prayers are with you today to get through all that paperwork.
Pace yourself and take some breaks for just YOU, then you can re-group now and then.

Waving like crazy to All.

Hi ladies..

Gosh..I think Janie and are I sweating in KS..high 80's-low 90's today..Typical KS summer weather..

Jezzie: Does this guy have a wife??? I wonder what she thinks of all the modern conveniences. It is great to be able to be creative and save energy at the same time.

Lin: Good for you..on the painting..I know I will be staining our deck after dh replaces some of the boards..That is a never ending project...

Kris: Glad you found the papers..Since my minlaw died in May, Gary has to get with the attorney, etc..and settle that whole thing. She at least had a trust, which makes things
a bit easier, we hope.

Susan: Me, too on the puppies..I would have to adopt them all, I'm afraid and my only cat would not be pleased.

Gladys: You are such a great bird mother..

Hi Sheila: Hope you are having a great day.

DH is in PA this week and will be home tomorrow night. Brett (ds21) is home from college and has lost 6 pounds since LCing..He weighs 192 and is 5 11, so he looks great! I'm glad that he is learning to eat right at a young age..Hopefully, he won't have the weight problem we have had by eating too much starch..

We have lost a lot of our old time buddies. Its sad every time I hear of it. I have had company for the last few days and couldn't get in my computer room.. Its also the guest bedroom...LOL Hugs to all who need it and waving to all the rest....I'm 5 pounds down according to the new scales...

Hi Glenda, my computer room is also the spare room here, and it has a tv too to keep guests up.

I too wondered about the dude with the $29 electric bill, and whether he lives alone in a tiny hovel. And that Hoover Dammed Puppy Mill person, to think they worry about HER constitutional rights?? She should not even be getting food and drink, I'd put her into a cage out in the Mojave desert, say goodbye, and that's that. Cheaper for all of the tax payers that way too.

Kris, when you have to leave your mother like that, do you leave a note on her bed in case she wakes up suddenly and you are gone??

Lin, the furniture sounds pretty to me!!! Good idea to use a spray gun.

Carolyn, we have to paint our front deck too, kept putting it off, and then dh got so sick, so we "skipped" it, but now it really needs it. Will have to wait until the fall though. Always something.

Gladys, it's nice of your hubby to wash all those pans for you!!!

Susan and Sheila, with all of your waving, I'll bet you guys burned at least 200 calories!!!

I've gotta go have another sneezing party.

Janie, late this afternoon a weird wind came in and blew out some of the smoke, but down near Sacramento it got worse!!! They can't let planes up in fact. I was just out now, have been hearing helicopters flying over, I thought it was the kind that drop water, but it's the kinds that carries fire crews and drops them off over the fire. The Forest Service found a new fire yesterday that is right in the middle of nowhere, so that must be where they have been going now. For now it's better here though.
Thanks for asking!!!

Well, I worry about it more than he does, actually. Frankly, it's driving me nuts sometimes. Because it is chronic, and a person never knows when the next shoe will drop, so to speak. I think many of you on this board understand what I mean. So my mind can't relax, and I don't want to take anti depressants, but the doctor thinks I should. So then I overeat now and then to compensate. But there are others having worse things going on, even in my own extended family, so one day at a time, is my current mantra. dh is doing better, but he has reached a point where he does not regain his stamina, so that is hard for him to accept, that he may never get better than he is right now. They say it takes time, but he is impatient, and so he takes his disappointment out on me, and so on. Sorry to vent like this, but it puts both of us at odds now and then. Whew!!

I'm sending hugs and good thoughts to those of you on here who also have loved ones in dire straits, it is a hard row to hoe!!

Hi Everyone,

Doris, I am glad that the smoke is better. I am sending a hug to you. I know what you are talking about . A few months ago my Mom fell and it was a tough couple of months. Things are better now, but I sure did eat due to stress.

Like Shelia, I am tired tonight, catch all of you tomorrow.

Hi, everyone. Back a little later than I planned, but my whole day has been going like that.

Got lots accomplished and am still making sure I've got everything ready for tomorrow.

Mom's surgery is scheduled for 7:30, we have to be at the hospital at 6 which means I have to get up at about 3 and get mom up at 4 to make it on time. At least there won't be very much traffic. Now if I can figure out how to set my fancy alarm clock, I'll be all set! My neighbor, who goes to work at 4 is going to call me when he gets up, just as a precaution. I'm not a morning person.

Mom is having one of her sleepy days after the busy day we had yeterday. I'm going to try to get her into the tub tonight, but I don't think that's going to work. She really doesn't want to have the surgery, I don't think, so she's going to put up hurdles for me to jump over to get her there. She just gave me a hard time about not wearing any jewelry to the hospital!! That one was on the list of hospital rules I got this afternoon.

Oh well. I'm off to try to get her into the tub. I may just give her her bath in the morning and turn in early. I won't sleep well as it is because I'm going to be so worried about not wakingup on time. I do it all the time when I have to get up early.

Have a good night, everyone. I'll let you know how things go tomorrow.

k
