Roll Call: Wednesday, June 25th

Doris: I am worried about you two. Is there someone's couch you can camp out
on for a couple of days?

Not much happening on my home front. Darren mowed my lawn yesterday.

The weekend after his cruise he had the annual golf tournament in Ithaca, NY.
Didn't do as well. Came in third. But did win $150 for some birdie he made
and a $200 pair of golf shoes. ...The cash probably went for gas. lol.

Since then it's been work and hospital visits. Kim's step-father had a double bypass.
(Kim's Mom's house is where I spend Christmas Eve every year.) So my grass was
about eight inches high.

Hi Everybody!

Jabba the Hut reporting in . I measured my waistline (what waistline? Okay, I measured the circumference of my sphere) and was really alarmed as I am a candidate for about 8 bad health problems.

Must stay with the plan, must stay with the plan, must stay with the plan

Finished weeding and feeding because I have a manicure and roots job today. My car will be inspected while my hairdresser works on me. Can't wait to see those two bills. The posie beds look pretty nice if somewhat dull colorwise. I wanted to trim out the lambs' ears but I counted at least 50 bees so they can have it.

and I may be back later. Have a good day!

Good morning, everyone.

Thank all of you for your prayers and good wishes. We certainly are going to need them.

I've decided not to tell mom about the more extensive surgery she's going to have. I know if I tell her that she'll back out and she just simply can't do that with any expectation of a good outcome. Since the cancer has started to travel, it has to be removed. Period. IMHO. So I'm probably going to go to hell for lying but she absolutely must have the surgery. I've told the surgeon and he agrees with me. Now I'm riddled with guilt. Oh, well, we'll all get through it, hopefully with the best possible outcome after the radiation.

Well, finished my 10 am phone call to DH. The water pump isn't turning off and the new accelerater board he got for his computer ran for two hours and quit. He doesn't know if it did any damager to the computer yet. Guess I'm not the only stressed one today. I think it's time for a Rescue Remedy moment!

Speaking of stressed. How are you doing Doris? They said you had over 1,000 fires out there? I'm worried about you and your DH and agree with Jezzie. Can you go somewhere to get out of that smoke. It can't be good for you.

Lin: I know what you're saying. I haven't measured my middle in years. Too depressing. I had surgery years ago which left me with a "bump" on my left side at my waist line so my measurements are HUGE! Not good. I do have to laugh, though, because so far I've lost most of my weight from my fanny and I really can't afford to lose it there! I'm such an apple, or as LLBean puts it, RECTANGULAR! I'm not sure that's a better term or not but it sure fits my body type (except for that huge apple I swallowed, of course).

Lorretta: Talking about LL Bean got me thinking of seeing some really cute swim suits on their web site. I really liked the boy short with little wrap around skirt in front and the tankini top. Think I might look into those items if I ever feel I need another suit. The thought of getting into one right now makes me cringe. I'd hate to subject innocent bystanders to that sight!

Well, I think I'm off to plant my tomatoe plants (2). So far, between the pots and soil, I've spent about $30. For two tomatoe plants. I must be nuts!

I'll try to BBL.

Jezzie glad that Darren got your lawn mowed and that he did well, I think, at the golf tournament. $$ speaks well and new golf shoes to boot. My oldest son, Phil, came in second for his age group, running a 6 miles hilly course in 44 min. He is doing great with his running. NO $$$$ for that. I will be entering a 4 mile run on July 4th with my 2 runner sons. The baby (Craig, now 40) is starting to run also.

Doris maybe you need to go and stay with your BIL in the valley for a while. All that smoke cannot be a good thing. Stay safe.

Kris, don't feel guilty for not telling your mom the extent of the surgery. It will just add more stress for her. She is probably already at her max for stress. I'm sure you are doing what you think is best for her. Funny about your bump on your left side. I have one too from kidney surgery that I had in 1980. I think it is some sort of hernia there where they sliced me in half. Hope all goes well for you moms surgery. Those tomatoes will taste great.

Lin,now that you have measured, write that down somewhere. In fact take more measurments of other body parts so you will have some comparison charts. Don't give up and be patient. Some weeks you might not budge at all.

Have a great day all, waving to those that follow.

BBL

Loretta: How funny! My bump is from kidney surgery, too! Had to have my renal artery repaired. Yup. Left side. Lights are on, nobody home. It's still a little numb and "pooching" right out there. My doctor told me that removal or replacement was a snap but that repair was a b*tch!

Edited to add: I think the bump is there because they cut all the nerves and muscles so, even though the muscles have healed, the nerves haven't completely reconnected. When some of them were reconnecting, however, it felt like someone had hit me in the side with a cattle prod. They warned me about the cattle prod pain and, boy, were they right!

They do just about cut you in half, don't they. A friend of mine wanted to see the incision (weird) and she agreed with me that I looked like a badly filleted fish!

Kris, I had a big kidney stone about the size of the tip of your little finger. It was before the days of lazer to break up the stone and it had to be surgically removed. There was some abnormality in my renal structures also. My dad had to have a kidney removed because of hydronephrosis. He had a simliar scar to mine, left side also.

How long ago was your surgery?

That was my thought exactly when you first mentioned it. But I figured you had enough
stress without my 2 cents stuck in. You will definitely be in my thoughts.

Congrats to your son Loretta. Once a year Darren makes some money. Usually golf
is an expensive past time. He just happens to know a couple of people who belong
to that country club who invite him every year. The golf shoes are just for showing up.

Lin: The sub title of my plan is "Waist Management". I'm supposed to measure it often. Not. lol.

Kris, I think you are right on and probably know your Mom better than anyone else does. Bless you for your care and love for her.

I am still getting back on track after my Virginia trip. Lunch today with the ladies which was nice.

Oh, and have I mentioned my Dad wants to move here. ? It is a good thing, really but the process to come sort of freaks me out. One day at a time, right?

Hi Everyone,

Kris- I agree with you. Having to care for my Mom, sometimes less is more.I will be thinking about the both of you.I hope that everything goes as good as can be expected.

Jezzie, I love the coffee first thing. I just can't get started without it. I am not giving it up for any plan.

Janie, Having just moved I can tell you it is a double edge sword. He is probably thinking he is too old to live along. I forget, how old is he now?

Doris, you know all of that smoke isn't good for you. You are in my thoughts.

Lin, we must be on the same page today. I had a pedi today. Like you I keep saying those words over and over again.

Talk to all later.

Kris, I am crossing my heart, fingers and whatever I can for your Mom and you too!!! I wouldn't tell my mother about the extensive surgery either, too much info is not always a good thing.

Jezzie, I love the coffee cup image, looks inviting in fact. As Dorothy says, I too am not giving up my coffee for any eating plan, I don't care which celebrity says so, lol.

Well, the smoke is just miserable out there, dh finally turned on our air filter system. We found out today that this smoke is from a fire closer to us, so that is why the wind is blowing all this smoke our way, it is not from the other big fire that they closed the main hiway for, near Chico, in Butte County. The bad thing is, more thunder storms are scheduled for tomorrow night. Our governor has even told everyone NOT to buy fireworks this year!!! It is illegal up here in this part of California but there are still some counties in California where they sell fireworks to make money for some groups, and parts of Sacramento do allow that. They were to go on sale this weekend in fact, but there are not enough fire people as it is now, and every year there are always many house fires due to over zealous folk lighting up to brighten up their boring lives.

I hope Loretta has a good, restful vacation time!!! She sure deserves it!

Jezzie, I'm glad you got your lawn mowed, you have alot of it for sure!!

Janie, do you have a place picked out for your Dad, or is his name on a list of some sorts??

Dorothy, are you getting back into the "groove" now??

We can't go down to my brother's to get away from the smoke, the smoke is at their house too as a matter of fact. I hope us buying earthquake insurance on Monday isn't fortelling of anything either, come to think of it. We have lived all these years in California, even in the Bay area, yet never bought earthquake insurance before. lol

Lin, we have lots of Lamb's Ear's and the resulting bee's are a menace, they are planted too near to the front area of the house too. No wonder people can't grow them near swimming pools, and ours have those darned huge bumblebees on them too!! Yikes!!

Doris
