Roll Call: Wednesday, May 14th

I'm off to a rousing start today. Second Tuesday Update. Unbelievable.

It took one hour, twenty-two minutes. Never saw anything like it before.
Watching all the steps - I think Microsoft either built me a new computer
or programmed it to blow up at a future date. lol.

Paging Miss Lin: Come out come out wherever you are.

Battle for the most ticks: In this corner Lady Jezzie removes one from
Jasper's snout - and captures another on her computer chair. <yuk>
Bringing her grand total to four in two weeks. Doesn't look like she can
overcome the commanding lead of her esteemed competitor Lady Kris.

I think watching that update finished my brain scrambling process.
Have a good one.

I'm off to read yesterdays roll call.

This is sooo puzzling. . .

Catching up: the burnt sugar cake was a flop except for the edges. The icing was spot on. Ellen served grilled marinated pork tenderloin and asparagus and Caesar salad. I took along cauliflower gratin and she also served strawberries with angel food for dessert as well as the burnt sugar mess.
Sunday was cold, Monday was cold and snowy. Monday I had half a day slammed inside a rubber room at school to submit my paper and grade 80 essays for the school testing program. Came home to pajamas and an early evening. Yesterday I played catch up with my classes and brought all grading up to date and started final exam grades so I could dash out the door with the kids for an eye doctor's appointment. I was there from 2:45 until almost 5 and then had to grocery shop Came home and made an egg crust pizza and vegged for the evening watching AI and Hell's Kitchen all the while I was playing over and over and over and over level 13 of the stupid game

Anyway I will try to catch up tonight.

Loretta I enjoyed the memorial tribute
Kris, hang in there!
Doris Our gas is $3.75. Where will it end?
SuSun Welcome back!
Jezzie Sounds like you had an amazing Mother's Day. I'm sorry about Darren and that church blaze.
Everybody!

Usually second Tuesday updates are straight forward quick affairs.
Download, Install, Restart.

This one:
Update needed to download update , update download, download verification (14 min.)
check configurations and space, create cabinets, complete backup of my files, install, restart.
Are you kidding me? lol

Then the usual twist my arm to have automatic updates. Thanks but no thanks. lol.

Sounds like you have been veeery busy. - I don't think I will try burning sugar.
My kids won't allow me to play with fire. I can get in enough trouble without it.

Good Morning Jezzie, Lin and all that visit today,

Lovely sunshine again today, it should be a gorgeous day with late day showers this evening. I was going to go on my walking group but the rain is expected, may just put a jacket and hood on and go anyway...will see how bad the rain is.

Kept to it again for another day, getting good results too. I was 126.6 this morning and yesterday I was 128...so makes a difference not being on holiday and partaking in the evening drinks and all that food, that I shouldnt have. On the straight and narrow again.

Best not to play with fire Jezzie, I hear ya on that one.

Thank you for the welcome back Lin,
Glad to be back with you guys.

Susan

Lin, I plan to plant my elephant ears today.........finally.
You are so great to have shared with me. Sorry about the cake. I love to cook but my baking is below par.

Jezzie, I guess I am dense but what updates are you talking about?

It is still cool this morning but hope to work outside before the rains come.

Kris, so sorry you and your Mom are going through all this worry and stress.

Susun, Doris, Gladys, Loretta, Sheila (our poet) and all the rest,

I don't usually pay any attention to the names.
I just look to make sure it's not an IE update.

I think this month it was Service 3 or something like that.
I can go look it up if you want.
There is a thing to click on that shows 'update history'.

We are expecting rain on Friday. Not sure if it's your rain or not.

Oh, ok, Jezzie. If it was XP, service pack 3, the worldstart forum reports some problems with that so beware. I am using Vista now so can't say exactly what the problems are.

You might check out WorldStart. WorldStart Computer Tips, Tricks, and Help
and go to the message board.

I don't remember my password.

But this is on the homepage:

Quote:

Gary, our tech support guru, even downloaded it last week and he said it's working great. He has had no problems with it whatsoever!

So, again, if you haven't downloaded the new SP3 yet, you might as well get to it. It's not really coming with any major new features, but it's still a good idea to keep your system as up to date as possible. Plus, the SP3 will give your system more reliability and security, so why pass that up? If you'd like to learn more about what is new with the XP SP3, make sure you keep reading today's newsletter, because there's a whole rundown for you in the Q&A tip below. Other than that, everything seems to be running very smoothly!

A late good morning to you all.

Love this line Gladys: Bribing is allowed in this house. I think that arrangement works the best.

Kris, so sorry to hear that for your mom about the sarcoma. I always love the adage: Prepare for the worse and hope for the best. You both are in my prayers and thoughts. Keep us informed.

Jezzie are you searching out the updates or do they just appear. Every once in a while MS tells me I need to update and that is as far as I go.
Dang my free AVG virus control is now asking for $$$$ for protection. Have to think about this.

SuSUN you seem to be getting right back on track with your eating plan. I imagine you hated to get back to work. You are probably enjoying some spring weather there now in Cananda.

Taking care of more paper work today. Canceling some insurance policies, ie the boat and the car I sold. Need to go in person to do these things.
Not much energy to do much else yet. The grief session yesterday was good, but not many in attendance. One other person, (my neighbor) and the counselor.

Have a great day. We have had some needed rain showers.

"The storm has stopped now.
Out the door I go to walk
Finding refreshing clean peace."

It is raining cats and dogs here, just what I need.Coming home a few min. ago the road was covered with water. We are on very high land so no worry of flooding. No t.v.for now,our satellite is afraid of bad weather..
Well got the roux cooking for DH's fricassee,he needs to come cut up the chicken cause Q broke one of my nails way into the quick,he pulled hard on the lead.
A mother cat just brought two kittens on the cat porch, wonder if she has more somewhere.I got some sheets to put them on cause they are wet. They are about two weeks old.

awe on the kitties. I have a momma cat , who is totally outside. She showed up here a couple yrs ago on Valentine Day. Her name is Valentine Kitty Kat or momma kitty. She comes to both. She wont come inside the house. I have tried countless of times to lure her in, to no avail. She just had three kittens all long hair. I wish I could get them but they run from me. They will just go off on their own I guess. She has had a few batches and I never see them after a couple of weeks or so. These are about 4 weeks now.

I hear ya on the rain, its heading our way tomorrow eve. And then I wont have tv or computer. LOL.

Good evening, everyone.

I'm so exhausted I can hardly type but wanted to give you all a quick update.

Mom and I and Dear Cousin went to the ondoloist today. I liked him very much. He feels that mom is probably out of the woods but he's ordered a CAT scan to be sure the tumor didn't kick any of the kids out of the house. He sees no evidence of that but wants to make sure. She'll has an appointment with the UCONN Medical Arts and Research people (he kept saying how rare and unusual her tumor was) but felt that one visit should be sufficient and that one only for the benefit of their research people. I'm going to rearrange the appointment so it's after the CAT scan. Seems the proper order to me. She will have a little radiation treatment just to be sure and then we're done, I hope.

Very hopeful appointment and all good news as far as I'm concerned.

I'm off to finish the dishes now but wanted to update everyone. One of mom's sisters called just before we sat down to dinner and they talked and talked and talked so dinner was a little late tonight.

Talk to you tomorrow.
