This is where Darren was stationed when he had to work on Mother's Day.
A brand new Baptist church that hadn't even been occupied yet.
The fire was of "suspicious origin". - It's a pity no matter what caused it but
I hope, for the stability of our village, it wasn't a civil rights crime.

On to happier issues ...
I did a google and my guess was right. China's IBM Research Center is in
NW Beijing where many corporations are based.
So they will be about a thousand miles from the epicenter. Not sure if they
are landing at Shanghai airport.
I wish sometimes that I was the type to ask more questions. lol.

Jamie sent me a few of Wen's African sunset pictures. I'll try to post them later.

Have a wonderful day ... I'm off to that place that Kris won't let me mention.

Now you have me curious, Jezzie....Let's all guess where Jezzie is going. I will guess the Zoo.

Book club today and I haven't read the book. I did however finish the one for last month. Would be out in the yard more but the wind picked up again and that aggravates the old allegies.

Can't wait to see more Africa photos. Hope Kieran and parents have a great trip.

Good Morning Jezzie, Janie and all that follow today,

We have a lovely sunny day up here, a wonderful May temperature. There a several blooms from tulips, dafs and a tiny white carpet type flower in my garden. May is a wonderful month so full of promise for the summer huh?

Well, I got right back on LC yesterday, got the carb withdrawal headache this morning, just had a fried egg for breakie, hope that fills me. I will have to remember what to eat again. I did buy a whole bunch of sausages yesterday, but I prefer them cooked in the oven and dont want to put it on till I have some meat in there too. So may do a couple of roasts today with the sausages then they will be ready for breakfasts.

Janie, What do you take for the allergies? DH seems to have lots more this year.
Hope you can get out and enjoy your garden soon. I know what you mean I used to belong to a book club and have to wing it as I could never keep up with the reading.

Jezzie, Yes, do post more African Pics. Thanks for sharing that spectecular fire pic. Enjoy whatever you are up to today...LOL!

Waving to all that follow,

Susan

Good morning, everyone.

I missed you all yesterday, but spent most of the day on the internet researching sarcoma. Turns out mom has one of the nastier types. I'll learn more from the oncologist tomorrow but I hate to go into an appointment like that without a little understanding under my belt.

Jezzie: I know where you're going! Ohhhhh...... great produce, caper berries, I bet, if you want them for a nice chicken dish. Shop the perimeter for healthy choices! Have a wonderful time.

Your dinner the other night sounded wonderful. I love "loaded" salads.

My Cornish Game Hens were pretty good. I would have used a Paula Deen recipe I found on the net but it called for marinating the hens overnight and I didn't have time so I just made a compound butter with fresh rosemary, thyme and some orange marmalade and stuck it under the skin. Stuffed the little critters with sliced oranges, green onions and garlic and called it good.
And didn't I feel like the "lady of the manor" stepping outside my kitchen door to cut fresh herbs from my little herb pots! I felt totally decadent! Loved it.
Now I'm looking for more recipes that call for fresh herbs!

Lin: Your burnt sugar cake sounds wonderful. I tried to make one years ago and it was a total flop. Never tried that recipe again. I do "burn sugar" though for my caramel flan and a Christmas desert I make where you have to spin the sugar around a tree shaped pyramid of mini cream puffs. Talk about decadent.

Susan: Welcome back! Coconut oil is supposed to keep a sunburn from peeling. You might want to give it a try. The stuff is supposed to do everything but the dishes.

Loretta: Your video was beautiful. I've never seen anything like it before. I think it's a great idea. All the family and laughter and happiness the pictures showed so clearly will help reinforce your memories, I think.

Doris: What's the outcome on DH's knuckle? It's always something, isn't it!

Gladys

Well, the asparagus patch has really started producing again. Cut about three or four pounds Sunday and found two ticks on my head!
They hadn't attached yet but it's still so creepy. You can bet I'm not leaving the house without being totally drenched in eau du deet from now on! I've also decided to run to Sally Anns and get a gardening outfit in very light colors so I can see the little suckers if they're climbing up my legs or arms. Boy, do I hate those things. Can't think of one good reason why
God would have created ticks or mosquitos or fleas for that matter. Maybe it's to keep us humble? Like a dog with fleas just to remind him he's a dog? Don't know. It's a puzzlement.

Well, have to run. I'm way overdue on laundry and have to get it done today or else!

Talk to everyone soon and have a great day!

So sorry Kris.

The Cornish Game Hen recipe sounds delicious.
I always look forward to your posts

I postponed my grocery shopping until tomorrow.
And I think I'll do the same with the Africa pictures.
He only sent seven but I don't want to bug him.

Hello to all.... greetings from Washington state.

Today is cool.... and wet..... good thing I got the back yard mowed last night... later this week I will do the front yard while it is dry. Later this week is supposed to be above normal temperature instead of below.... shock to the plants and system I think but it will be good to get the sun. I need to do some yard work and transplanting.

We finally got thru with helping hubbies Dad get moved out of the home he lived in for many years.... it was a busy weekend and my living room is a disaster of stuff... some bedroom furniture and other misc stuff that Dad wanted us to have. Now to re-organize and find it all a proper place. We are in the midst of doing some remodeling at one end of the house... changing one bedroom into an exercise room... and redoing the bathroom completely.... hubby is putting new wall board up in one of the bedrooms and then we will need to paint... lots of things to do, but it's getting Ray to working on it that seems to be the problem. I won't be a nag (did you know the Bible calls a women who nags ... like being a drippy faucet LOL) So I am encouraging him and trying to get him motivated/excited about the way it will look when done. (smile) hmmmm wish me luck! Weeks have gone by since he has done anything in there.. hopefully having his Dad moved now will get his mind focused on here.... of course we have garden to plant and oh my... too much else that needs done to mention. (smile)

I have never eaten a cornish game hen.... maybe I am missing out huh? With doing low carbs I think I kinda get stuck in a rut of eating the same menus all the time.... especially meats.... I want to buy some salmon again soon. Tonight is chicken and artichokes.

Loving life is a great way to live.... count each day, each moment as precious.... take time to enjoy and be thankful.... keeping a gratitude journal is good for keeping you focused... each day trying to think of 3 things that you can be greatful for and try not to repeat with the same each day... it keeps your eyes opened to the opportunities that come our way... this morning there was an evening groosbeak (sp?) at the bird feeder... he was magnificent. (smile)

Have a great day everyone

Oh Norene, or Jeannie, what do you like to be called? I remember evening grosebeaks from NYS. It would be the dead of winter and their beautiful black/yellow colors would be brilliant in the sunshine. They were always at my feeders. We dont have them here.

Sounds like your bedroom is going to look good!!
Kris: Hugs to you.
Jezzie that is horrible what they did to the church. What is the matter with people?
I have had a bad day but still counting blessings. I wont go into it, but geesh...
Off to watch a dvd my son gave me from Paul Keith Davis (teacher/preacher) The first one was great. Later~~

I'm sending good thoughts and prayers to Kris and your Mom, I hope you get some news at the doctor that will help you, the unknown is scary, don't I know it.

Jezzie, those Petunia's really ARE that yellow, and I just bought some today, they are called "Lemon Zest" actually. We also bought some regular Petunias and a 6 pack of Begonias, the little ones. I'll be planting tomorrow. Also bought another hummingbird feeder. Why? Because I'm a Nut about hummingbirds, that's why........

We will see how dh's hand looks tomorrow, after the doctor's felt it and checked it, lol. Looks like someone is going to have to be more careful outside from now on though.

I'm sittin' here drinking the leftover coffee from the morning pot, at it's after 8 pm. Ha ha ha ha!!

I'd enjoy seeing some pictures from Africa. I'll certainly never go there.

We noticed that even the Wal Mart Super store was not as crowded as usual today. And the IHOP we went to for lunch was not too crowded either, and we got there around 12:30. Gas was $3.89 at Safeway, but we had a receipt with 10 cents off a gallon, so it wasn't too bad. Had to top it off when we got to Oroville just before heading back into the mountains and there it was $3.87.

I hope you have some happy shopping tomorrow Jezzie, what fun, I hope!!!

Waving hello to Janie, Sheila, Loretta, Norene, good old Susan, and anyone else who hops in maybe this evening, Gladys perhaps??
