Roll Call: Sunday, May 11th
![]() Janie: What a touching picture. I will never forget it. Personally moving - and symbolic. Gladys: ![]() Kris: I've been saving graphics/ pictures since I first learned how. Hundreds and hundreds. Had a lovely time at Jamie & Wen's. Jamie cooked this time. Papaya followed by chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes on a bed of couscous. - No dessert. Wen's pictures of Africa look like something you would see in a magazine. And I learned some more things about some of the animals. ![]() Jamie confessed to being a little nervous at times. For instance when an angry elephant chased their bus up the road. When a hippo disappeared under water for a couple of minutes - and he wasn't sure if it was under their boat. lol. |

Good morning all,
After a horrid sinus day yesterday, I am feeling much better this morning!! Did pretty well yesterday, went to friends for brunch and ate quiche. Yes, I even ate the crust ![]() Here is another photo, this one from Merida on the Yucatan Peninsula - this is one of the public areas at a little hotel where we stay. ![]() |

Good morning, everyone!
I'm planning a lazy day. I hope to get my herbs into their little containers this afternoon. I've always wanted a little kitchen garden, just a few herbs right outside the door like in all of the English novels. This will be my version. I hope I don't kill everything! Jezzie: Your dinner sounds wonderful! I'm doing the Cornish game hens for mom for Mother's day tonight. Hope she likes them. Have to find a spectacular recipe. ![]() Jamie and Wen's vacation sounds spectacular, too. Why don't you snipe a few pictures and post them?? Ron: Glad your sinus problems are clearing up. I swear by my Neti pot, although my allergies have been pretty good this year. I think it's the low carbing. Lin: I'm having a "thick" moment. You're watching sugar burn???? ![]() Have a great day, everyone. k |

My burnt sugar "cake" is done---not without incident.
![]() ![]() It really was a great IDEA. We are taking cauliflower gratin and dessert to a party later today at 4.Finally wheel-barrowed away the lot from the front bed. . . just before the rain pitterly-patting on the roof NOW! Enjoy your day, Mamas! Lin ![]() ![]() ![]() |

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY Jezzie your menu at Jamie's and Wen's sounded delicious. I would imagine that the color in those photos was just wonderful. What a treat for you to relive their vacation with them in the telling. DS and Leah came over for a visit this afternoon. We celebrated yesterday with lunch. Ron how are those amenities in Mexico? Do you have intenet access? Or are things more or less not up to date? I have not been there myself but anytime my friends go I always make sure they bring back some vanilla for me. Kris I sure wanted to be outside planting today, but we have a tremendous amount of wind and cool temperatures. If any one wants to take a peek DH funeral CD is online at: Life Tributes It is mostly family pictures. Dh had complete military rites at the graveside since he was a WWII Vet. It was most inspiring. I gave the flag to his one and only son. Going to start a journal to talk with DH. My sister's idea from when she was widowed.

All needs are available in most places in Mexico. Good internet, fine infrastructure, plenty of modernity living side by side with antiquity.
I bring back vanilla for friends also ![]() |

What a beautiful video Loretta. I didn't know that kind of thing was done. I think keeping a journal is a great idea too. Thanks for posting that for us.
It was so windy, whirlwinds out there, pollen was flying, and cool. Some people were talking of having Mother's Day picnic's, but that was when the weather people kept saying today was gonna be warm and nice. Good sounding menu Jezzie!! I'll bet those Africa pictures are great too, what memories, and the kids can have enlargements made too. Did they like the food over there?? How was the water?? I've never tasted "Burnt Sugar Cake" in my life, have run across the recipe though Lin. I hope you have a good time this afternoon. Welcome back Susan, are you tan in any way, or did you cover up most of the time? We watched German soccer from 7 AM till after 11AM this morning, each riding the exercise bike during it all, per usual. I'll miss when the season ends, there are only about 3 more weeks of the European ones on. I cooked dh beef stir fry for dinner, didn't know what else to fix. I didn't have any, I don't care for it that much. Quiet day, dh took a 3 hr nap. I talked to my youngest son and my Mom, and did kitchen work. Tomorrow may have to go to dh's regular doctor, he thinks he broke his knuckle or something, so may need xrays to be sure. Always something................ Have a good evening everyone!! Doris |

Loretta, that was just beautiful. My favorite photo was the two of you in the kitchen.
He was a very handsome man. What branch of the service was he in? I could tell how well loved he was. What great memories you have of your John. Thinking of you now and always. ![]() |

Doris, Yes, I am a little tanned. We did stay in the shade lots but even the reflection from the sand caught us. DH is so fair a red head in his earlier years, so he has a red tan.
Loretta, Lovely music and pic of your DH. I could not play the video either. Sending hugs, prayers and blessings your way. What a terrific idea to journal your thoughts to your DH. Susan |
