Roll Call: Saturday, May 10th

For many reasons I am sooo glad to put last week behind me.
Starting this week out fine. Dinner at Jamie's. Not only a Wen cooked meal
but also a presentation of the Africa pictures. Really looking forward to it.

I remember well my first Wen meal ... maybe about four years ago. ???
Oxtail soup followed by five entrées. One a shrimp dish. Heads and all. lol.
Talk about instant cultural immersion.

. .oh, what a wonderful day. . .I've got a wonderful feeling. . . everything's going my way I like that rooster. Actually I am very fond of watching roosters--the white ones with the red combs--leghorns, I think. We had a few.I'm not overly fond of chickens as a species, however, given that many of them felt free to peck at me when I gathered their eggs . Roosters are lively to see.

It's a rainy, rainy Saturday and the garden is growing upward quickly I don't think I'll be potting up plants today Guess I'll have to read.

Jezzie, my sister cooks brisket of the type Smith shares. Looks wonderful, Smith!!! Yum-o as the young and lively cook says Have fun at your dinner, Jezzie, and do tell us the menu. By the way sorry about your wonky week

Off to get some joe.

Later, Gang!

Lin

Hey Lin. Is this grounds for divorce? I got our game to level 13, minimized it so I could attack it this morning and DH closed it after I went to bed. Maybe, "Someone," telling me I am wasting way too much time at it.

Also to get more rain today. I might get some work done out there before it starts. Got a cute new hair cut which perked me up yesterday.

Good news. My DDSIL returned home from Afghanistan yesterday. He called me from their car and said Finn had not stopped talking since his feet hit the tarmac.

Oh, who is Smith and where is his brisket? I have always made my vegetable soup with oxtails, Jezzie. I thought it was a southern thing.

Best to the rest.

Hi to all

Just checking here. Yesterday someone building in our area, cut our phone lines. No dsl or phone. I had to call them on my cell phone and report the outage. I was gone for most of the day taking care of paperwork etc. The phones were back on by evening.

What a cheerful and perkey bunch here. Good to hear what is going on with you all.

I can just see Finn doing all of that talking to his dad. WOW. Will your DSIL be home now for a while Janie?

Jezzie, let's both hope for a better week. Now that all of my company is gone I seem to be able to concentrate a little better. I felt like someone was always watching over my shoulder with them here.

Lin, no celebrating with your DSis's this weekend. Hope you have a good book to read. Is school out yet?

In answer to Glady's question of the other day. I am going to stay in the area and move to town. Not sure where yet. Yesterday I looked at some new duplexes underconstruction that have garage, all on one level, 2 bedroom, nice area. There are just a few blocks from DS and Leah. I think that would be nice and I am leaning that way.

Smith you live quite far away from Mexico. Is that your favorite place to visit? Love your pictures. Food and scenery.

Have a great weekend all.

Cruel and unusual punishment for certain He probably thinks he is saving you from yourself. I have left that game at so many levels for so many goofy reasons.13???!!! Now that is impressive! I almost cried when I saw the suitcases at 12. i think the game ends pretty soon...

My sister Joy and I are off to shop for tops, a hat and a purse. I'll probably last about an hour before I'm ready to scream!

Janie, I had to cry over your photo also. I'm so happy he is back and I hope he stays HERE.

Ron, that is a lovely photo, looks so cool and peaceful. You could make a calendar of your photos for yourself.

Jezzie, enjoy that meal, drink it in for your own memories. I'm interested in hearing the menu also.

Loretta, would you sell your place or rent it out?? How are the real estate dealings going in Paducah?? Where we are, I don't think you could GIVE a home away at the moment. Would you be closer to shopping or the senior center, library, things like that too? Places to walk if you like??

Lin, did you find what you were shopping for?? Did you go out to eat, lol??

Gladys, was Wal Mart crowded at the time you went?? I would be afeered of going there on a Saturday!!

Sheila, did you spend your government surplice check at the Flea Market??
I know, it should be "surplus", but I'm feelin' stupid today!!

Hi my friends. I cried too. I have never seen such a wonderful hug.

Ron, sorry, I went mindless. I saw your brisket and it looked great. Really enjoy your photos. I have been a lot a places in Mexico but not in the interior. My parents did and loved it.

Jezzie: Where do you get your daily pictures? They always make me smile. What a great way to start my day. Thank you.

Be sure to give us details on your dinner tonight. I want recipes!!

Janie: Your picture made me cry, too. So glad he's safely home. DH and I are very involved with the VWF back home. I'm always a wreck when one of our "kids" goes overseas and greet them with lots of hugs and kisses when they get back.

Ron: Your brisket looks good enough to eat and the fountain is beautiful! Is it a very old one??

Loretta: Don't rush into anything. Take your time and really consider. I'm saying this as a real estate broker who's seen people rush into things they later regret. Just take your time.

Gladys: Did you have a successful shopping trip? I'm scared of Wally on the weekend, too!

Sheila: Do you love flea markets, too? Had a great time at a garage sale on the way home from the vet. Got two soft briefcases, three books and two planters for $2.00! I love a deal!

Lin: How did your shoppin go?

Well, took Sassy to the vet for her stitch removal, Lyme booster, mouth check and microchip. She surprized me by running right into the office. Not a hint of distress or unpleasant memories. Made friends with all of the critters and humans in the office and generally had a fine time until she saw the vet who operated on her. Oh my, she remembered her! Her little heart started thumping and the vet even noticed how huge her pupils got. Poor little thing. Then she recognized the vet tech who took her for the microchipping, too! She was very glad to leave.

Had to grocery shop and got some great deals. They had a manager's special at one store and I got four cornish game hens. The most expensive was $1.50! I do love a deal! Also found some tri-tip steaks for about $2.50 a lb. Mind, these are all "eat it quick" specials, so we'll be having game hens tomorrow and steaks Monday.

Hope everyone has a geat evening.

I almost forgot about the rooster! When I was about 8, I made my dad help me enter our rooster in the Wapping Fair. The rooster was a very handsome Rhode Island Red with irridescent tail feathers and a cocky (pardon the pun) personality. That little devil won first place and best in show! I still have the blue and purple ribbons here somewhere. I just knew he was special. We kept him forever, even though he got to be a real pain. Grandpa was a softie and just couldn't put that prize winning rooster in the stew pot, which was just fine with me.

Sweet dreams, all.
