Thanks, Jezzie. I guess I am some better. I tried to go to a consulting job yesterday but had a sneezing coughing fit while there....not attractive.
![]() Good news is that my DF gets out of the hospital today. Just hope there will be someone going to check on him each day. He insisted that he handle that himself. ![]() |

Good morning, everyone.
It's a beautiful day in BB CT! Currently around 70 and should get into the high 70's later. Time to switch from sweatshirts to T-shirts. Checked the asparagus bed yesterday and got enough new tender shoots for dinner for mom and me. Hope the warmer weather makes them really pop up. I love fresh asparagus an hour or so out of the bed. When I was a kid, we had a huge garden including rows and rows of corn that we would freeze for the winter when the corn was just perfect, meaning quite young and very tender and sweet. We'd plant the corn a couple of rows at a time 5 or 6 days apart (as I recall) to extend our season. We also got to process the stuff for weeks on end. LOL For dinner, mom would get a big pot of water boiling on the stove and dad would pick enough corn for dinner. DB and I would help dad shuck the corn and we'd dump it right into the pot. Talk about fresh. I'm so spoiled when it comes to food. I do know what the good stuff is and can hardly get it anymore! So, mom and I are eating dinner and I have a tickle on the side of my face. Like a stray bit of hair. I reach up to brush it back and it's a TICK! AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH! I HATE TICKS! I grabbed it and, remembering the three modalities of A New Earth, I accepted the tick, wrapped it up in a paper towel and introduced it to a brick on the steps with enthusiam and enjoyed it??? Am I doing this right? I hate ticks. My brother and I ran in the woods, played in the swamp, chased each other through the corn and caught toads in the tobacco fields. We were always in the fields in high grass. We never, ever had a tick. I pulled one of the furbaby and one off me so far this year. I've had furbaby vacinagted against Lyme Disease as a precaution but there's no human vacine because it interfers with the diagnosis of Lyme Disease. I'm ordering some Frontline today for Sassy. Hope it works. I'm concerned about getting ticks from her because we sleep together and I don't want give that up. She wouldn't understand. She naps with mom, too, so that's another concern. Boy, am I rambling this morning. Loretta: Hugs to you. Gladys: DH and I are fascinated with your area, as I think I've told you before. Someday we'll get down there to enjoy the music, the food and the fishing in the boyou! Janie: Hope you're recovered. Hope everyone has a great day! k |

Those trees are so nice to look at, but I can feel sweat trickling down if I imagine too long.........
![]() Janie, that is terrible when you get that tickling coughing and a sneezing "tour" as my Mother would call it. My Dad used to count my sneezes, 57 in a row was the all time high. ![]() I do hope you find relief soon, darn it!!!It's almost 5 pm and I'm still waiting for the mail to arrive. Makes me nervous when I have something in the box that has to get out, and the mail person does not come on time. We had leftover fish for supper today, leftover cauliflower, leftover carrots, lol. kris, that asparagus sounds so good!! My grandfather used to grow asparagus for us when we lived on the farm, lots of work but good stuff. I wonder how many folks are having gardens this year due to high food costs?? I've never had a tick before, but dh has, and a couple of the dogs had one now and again. I don't want one mind you........... Jezzie, did you go shopping today?? Doris |

I know I answered the q from Jezzie but where is my post.Oh well.
I think its voodoo but it didn't go with the song so they changed it. ![]() Doris why do you think it's hot on the bayou. If you are in a boat and just hanging it's not too hot.Spent the day doing laundry, all the bedding, throw rugs.Dh and I tried to flip the mattress but we couldn't,too heavy.Cann't call the kids cause they all have bad backs. Will get a thick foam pad for it. Loretta hope you are taking care of yourself. Doris we had to give up lots of yard work here, just not worth getting hurt or sick over grass/flowers. Shelia glad to see you back, also welcome to our new gal.

Gladys, when we drove back home through Mississippi and Louisiana back in 1997, in October, it was darned "damp" and warm driving past those soggy wet areas. Plus, I listen to alot of Doug Kershaw music
![]() . My dh says it reminded him of when he was stationed in the Phillipines as a sailer. ![]() We have mattresses like that, have to ask son AND daughter in law both to do them!!! Even the single one is heavy, those extra wide, thickness ones. I liked the old kind better frankly. The sheets were cheaper to fit those old kind too. I'm cheap!!! Doris |

Sheila: I remember summers in Miami! HOT HOT HOT! All of FL is a little too hot for me in the summer. I don't do well with the humidity anymore either. Now, ask me if winters in Upstate NY are a "little" too cold! LOL In my old age, I think wintering in FL would be heaven! I still want my green, green Upstate summers, however.
Jezzie: Ticks. Disgusting critters. I pulled 4 or 5 off Sassy last year with tweezers. Neither one of us liked it much. I'd pull them off and the heads would stay in or I couldn't get ahold of them. Seems like they're coated with teflon. I was terrified to crush them when they were still attached because I read somewhere that if they were infected, you'd just force more infection into the furdarling or yourself! SO.. I went to a pet store and bought something called "Ticked Off". It's a little teaspoon looking tool with a very thin "v" cut into the front. You get the tick in the "v" and kind of roll the spoon forward and viola! Tick is out, head and all and the tick is trapped in the bowl of the spoon with the little head wedged in the "v". I then took it outside and introduced it to the brick, with enthusiam. I think it cost $5 of $6, but the night I fought with Sassy for 45 minutes with tweezers, I would have forked over $100! While I was driving to the pet store to look for a tick extraction device, I was thinking how to design one and this is pretty much what I thought I would have invented so it has to be good! Sweet dreams, everyone. k P.S. Mom is having her surgery tomorrow. I'll try to check in tomorrow evening and let you know how it went. |
