I did manage about 20 min on the bike yesterday after company left.
My DstepD brought me a bunch of Harlequin romances, good for reading and riding. I have read up all of my library books and will get more on Thursday. Exercise workout upper and lower body 30 min, using 2 lb hand weights Exercise biking about an hour. |

We had a good weekend! And I'm happy to say I did get my bike time yesterday!
Today is weights and kettlebells. I've already done the kettlebells and am going downstairs to do weights in a minute. Dropped DH off at the airport this morning for his week in Nicaragua. I'll be happy to hear when he lands safely! Today is day one of Atkins for me. I've never done it before so I hope all goes well. DS is doing it with me so this week will be easy, I hope. |

Yikes! Jezzie, Ouch on that ankle. Hope you can stay off it so it can heal. Elevate whenever you can, and lots of TLC is in order for you. Mother Hen or what? LOL!
Well, I put an imaginary alarm clock around my neck today to remind me to do my workout. It worked. So I did manage my Lower Body w/o even with the squats. Thanks for the tip and article Jezzie. Linda, Best of Luck with Atkins today to both you and your DS. It worked really well for me to get the weight off. Its almost a year since I hit my goal and I've been keeping it off just up a couple of pounds which I allow myself, as I am trying to build some muscle. Loretta, LOVE your avatar. Leah looks adorable. Did she enjoy her Easter? Its wonderful to hear you read so much either riding the bike or sitting. One day when I dont have to read for work... Waving to any others that visit here today. Susan 122.4# this a.m. |

Susan, I'm up a couple of pounds, but I'm allowing the extra fat, lol.
![]() I walked only one mile this AM, short on time, and only did the bike 30 min. We were gone early on, and later on the UPS brought dh's order of plants, so hurried out to get them into the ground and containers. My job is to be the "Gopher", so I brought buckets of potting soil, water and so forth back and forth. We are both pooped tonight. I'm trying to catch up on the emails and stuff I have missed over the weekend. dh needed some TLC this weekend, so I was occupied. See yah all tomorrow, soccer games are on so will be riding for sure! Doris |

Hope you ankle is ok today, Jezzie. Will you wrap it?
Doris that sure sounds like heavy lifting and WORK to me. Glad you took the time for TLC for DH. I need more patience some days. KUTGW Susun with the exercise and the reminders. Thanks for you comments on Leah. Those little gals dressed up for Easter all look like living dolls. Bet Ella does too. Exercise workout upper and lower body 30 min using 2 lb hand weights. Read and ride approx an hour or a little more. It is a good book. Last edited by Loretta V : 03-25-2008 at 07:43 AM. |

Hi Everyone! Sorry to hear about that ankle, Jezzie. Hope it's feeling a little better already.
Day one of induction for me went well, DS had some problems yesterday but after some discussion this morning, I discovered that he had not had a enough for breakfast so he ate his snack when he got to work, his salad at snack time and his chicken at lunch. By the time he got him he was really hungry. He's a really picky eater so it's a challenge but we talked over some ideas and I think we have it figured out. Today's exercise will be bike for me! DS likes to walk outside but the weather isn't cooperating for that quite yet. He's too tall to use the treadmill - low ceilings in the basement. And he wasn't too thrilled with the indoor biking. I'll have to remind him to do the weights at least!

Jezzie, how is your ankle today???
I'm just on for a second, phone calls suddenly having to do with dh's retirement are keeping us in the house at the desk. D |

Doris: I do not envy you your day. I have an aversion to the phone.
![]() The ankle is mildly sore. I'm not doing my walk but I'm not staying in bed either. It's hard to say if it swelled or not. The right ankle is my bad one and it swells every day. I'll baby it a little one more day. The thing I'm annoyed at myself for is: I know the yard is full of bumps and pits - so why did I go down it in my house sandals? duh. . |

Hello everyone..... today have done part of an exercise dvd that is called core rythms.. it is some fast pace workout by a couple of the dancing with the stars dancers... it really makes my waist and hips/abs feel it... only got 12 minutes in when the phone rang and I had to take it because it was my Mom and I hadn't heard from her in a while.
I did a weight workout... upper body only today... this afternoon I will do the urban rebounder for 20 to 30 minutes. I am determined to lose some weight and get into shape..... what shape we will see .. LOL... when I lost 100 pounds doing low carbs before I did mainly bike workouts and some weights.... but the results left me with droopy skin in places.... this time I am trying to do alot more toning along the journey and hopefully I will have better results... but most of all I just want to have more stamina and better health.... still singing my theme song for the day (smile) "Another pound bites the dust!" 21 pounds gone so far since Jan. 19. My pedometer batteries went dead on me yesterday... so no steps to report... but I did do 30 minutes on the rebounder. Today I have new batteries and so far only 3000? so I have to get the move on to reach the 10,000 mark or higher. Have a great day everyone! Norene (JeannieH) |

Hi Norene!
Jezzie, our back yard is full of those bumps, ridges, etc. so both dh and I sometimes "step in it" the wrong way. It's been that way all the years we have lived here. I usually have shoes on, but when it's warmer I wear cheap, thin slip on shoes, and I twist something just going to the compost pile, never mind trying to walk to check plants around the yard. dh got these new plants because he ordered from a catalog that claims to send stuff "when it's planting time in your area", but up it, it ain't time!!! We have snow on Memorial Day sometimes. But dh also can't wait to plant stuff, he is like a kid in a candy store in a plant nursery too, so I have learned to bite my tongue, especially now..................and so it goes. ![]() Later, gotta wash dishes, prepare dinner, clean up, the perpetual job of mine in this lifetime. What a cute joke, Jezzie.
Doris I am happy to hear that your DH has the spirit for his gardening. Things like that keep one excited about living. You are wonderful to encourage him. My yard also is full of mole holes and dog digs. The dog next door keeps on chasing moles and keeps on digging. I rarely am without sturdy shoes on my feet. I like my feet supported. Rarely wear sandals. Guess I look like an ancient old lady most of the time. Love your crocus. Norene you sure have a varied workout and are hard at it. Love you theme song, "Another pound bites the dust." Dh is sleeping in this morning, a rarity. I have completed my exercise workout and most of my biking for the day. Want to clean the outside of the kitchen cabinets with some Murphy's oil soap.

Hi Everyone! I did weights and crunches this morning and will be doing the kettlebell dvd shortly. I had to do a Sam's Club run after lunch. Bought too much stuff but it's all things that will keep me and DS on plan for the next few weeks!
Got a long email from my future DIL last night with lots of wedding details! She said her Mom already has her dress and wondered if I had started looking yet. I won't be doing that till a few weeks before the wedding! I'm hoping to be in better shape by then! |

Good going Linda! Our son's wedding was one of the incentives dh and I had in 2004 when we had to begin our better way of eating and living, it does help to look forward to something like that. I didn't buy the dress I wore until 2 weeks before the wedding in fact.
I rode the exercise bike 2 hrs today, but no walk, I am sort of freezing here, can't take that wind at all. I quickly walked the back and front yard to pick up branches that had fallen off the trees last night. Did some weights but have to finish in here this evening, taking my time. Doris |

It was stupid of me to wear sandals without a back strap on the lawn. I don't usually do that.
All my sandals have good support from the bottom. The ones I had on have the same support as a walking shoe so they are fine on level ground. But not enclosed enough for hills or bumps. Linda: What an exciting time for you. Do you need to keep within the color scheme of the wedding? Tomorrow I'll try a 30 minute walk again. If all goes well, weather permitting, I'll join the walking club at Locust Grove on Saturday

Hi Everyone! It's indoor bike day for me! I'm getting more anxious to ride outdoors as the weather warms up! Maybe next week!
Jezzie, future DIL said anything I choose will be fine with her so I really don't have to stay within the colors but I don't want to stand out like a beacon so I will try to stay close to their colors for my dress! She is such a sweetheart and said that if there was anything I wanted them to include in the wedding I should let her know. I told her it's their day and to do it the way they want! I know I'll love whatever they do! |

Well, I have come across another kind of workout that I want to do a few times a week (on bike days!). Here is the link to it if you want to see it. http://www.daxmoy-pts.co.uk/integratedmovement.pdf
I'm going to use a 2 lb. ball that I already have. I imagine you could use just about anything with a bit of weight to it as long as you can hold onto it. |

Those exercises look like the stuff they teach in German schools in their exercise classes. They love to use different size balls there.
Walked my 2 miles today, no time to get on the bike, shopping and preparing all those veggies took my time up. Bought more brussel sprouts, I think this is the last of the season for them. Doing my usual wall pushups, weights in here tonight, while dh watches his ice hockey out in the living room. We will be in the car for several hours again tomorrow, driving to Redding this time. Further north of where we live, but in the Sacramento valley, so it should be a bit warmer there. Will eat dinner before we meet with some guy at 6 pm. Then head home through the mountains after that, so I won't be on here at night I don't think. Doris |
