Exercise For Sunday, Aug 19th

Hi

Hope you all are having a wonderful evening. Did twenty min. on the bike non stop. Then a little while ago about five and stopped then got back and did five more. Might do some more later.

Will try to do some calland tummies and stretches later. Have a good night, sleep tight, dont let the bed bugs bite, but if they , hit them with a shoe until they are black and blue...from Mamas family I think. LOL.

What kind of discussion can we start on this thread tonight. Surely not food. LOL. I just got off the roll call one again. LOL. Donuts are calling me. Glad the store is an hr away. Will go make me a cup of hot coffee or something. Night night.

BIGGEST LOSER STARTS THIS WEEK

Oh good, will it be on Wednesday nights again? I haven't watched network tv is so long, I don't even know what's going on. Sorry if that's a dumb question Sheila!!

That getting on and off the bike, that is one of the things I like about it!! One can devote as much or as little time with it that a person wants. No dressing up, putting on special shoes, or whatever. I did some more on our bike a while ago. I also did some Polka dancing in here.

Sunday we have a Birthday party for a whole bunch of us over age 60 friends. Well, a "bunch" here is 10 or 12 people, lol. Grilling various meats and we are bringing side dishes. I'm doing the potato salad. No, I don't care for it either. lol We haven't gotten together with all of us since last year, so we can catch up on the latest gossip, like whether the whole school district is closing down. Lack of money.

See yah tomorrow gang. Will be up early for soccer games!!! So the bike will get some action again before breakfast.

There are closing the whole school district down???? Where will the kids go to school for pete's sake???

I took today off after 6 days of exercise. Kind of proud of myself. But I'll be back walking tomorrow. Don't want to let any grass grow under my feet!

They have enough funds for this school year. They are hoping for the State to pull them through. The schools in our valley here will be the first to go though, which means the high school, elementary school and one smaller 2 room elementary school. They used to get money from logging, and there is only one logging company left in our county, used to be 45 companies back in the old days, that provided tax money. The county only has 28,000 people population, so not alot of tax money comes in either.

I did do my 30 minute walk for today.

A perfect segue for .....

Walk This Way

Ever wonder which one is better for you: several short bouts of exercise or one long workout? Both are helpful, but taking the long way just may do your heart more good.

A recent study examined the cholesterol levels of people who participated in an 18-week walking program. Participants took either one 20- to 40-minute walk, two 10- to 15-minute walks, or three 5- to 10-minute walks per day.

The results showed that those people who took the single, longer walk had lower cholesterol levels than those who walked for a shorter duration more frequently.

Of course, if your schedule more easily accommodates two or three shorter walks, by all means, take them. The most important thing is to get moving.

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that one of the key reasons Americans don't exercise is the common misconception that only taxing and rigorous workouts confer benefits. That's simply not true. Almost anyone would benefit by just boosting his or her overall physical activity.

And, when it comes to exercise, you are never too old to begin. People who start exercising or doing moderate physical activity in midlife show a decreased rate of aging.

Since I admitted to wanting to go to Egypt as my first choice the other day, when I walk today, I'm going to "walk like an Egyptian."

Also going to add three sets of "roll ups" everyday to my routine so that I can strengthen this stomach. This getting ready for surgery is going too slowly. At the rate I'm going, I'll be ready for that hysterectomy about 2025 and I don't think I should wait that long.

I really wonder how true that is about the walking lowering cholesterol. Which cholesterol do they mean? total? My TC is very high. How many points are they talking about?

It doesn't sound legal to close down a school district. I guess they could bus the kids to a larger district. Sure hope it doesn't happen.

WTG Julie on the 6 days in a row of exercise. Keep going now.

Kay keep working on your exercise program. Every little bit helps out.

Taking Sunday off.
