I prefer bareMinerals loose minerals for my shadows. They stay in place and always look great. I can wear them very light & also deeper, darker.

I have not bought new for a long time. Over a year ago I committed to not spending on makeup I don't need & instead I am finding new combos for the shades I already have. It is better than buying new because it is free! I have fewer than 25 single shadows and I think I have 5 small palettes. Two of those were in skincare kits & I could have lived without them.

I like bareMinerals loose liners but also like their Ready liners. I prefer applying my liner with a brush. It gives me control over the thickness of the line.

Browns are my go-to colors when I am looking to be neutral. They really pop my baby blues.

I always use a primer with my shadows. I'm using UD but will most likely try something less expensive if I ever use this up.

I like Urban Decay. They have some new palettes out that are really nice, and I love their eyeliners. Have you ever had them do your eyes at Sephora? That'd be a good way to try some new colors.

Another vote for Urban Decay - I love the new "Naked 3" palette of slightly rose tinted neutrals.

Suprisingly - Wet N Wild is my eyeshadow of choice. I like t walking on eggshells palate. The Too Faced Natural Eye collection is my more high end chocice, but I always go back to W&W.

Check out Origins makeup. they do not carry a ton of stuff, but what they do carry is very nice. My DD has blue eyes, and I just bought her some beautiful navy liner and a couple of neutral and colors (forgot what she picked out) shadows.

What NICE stuff at a not too bad price.

She had such random stuff she collected over the last year or so from wherever, and it was just not a good look for her.

They are a bit earthy crunchy in some of the shops (well maybe just the one in Harvard Sq, lol) but I have found they really do not try to 'over sell' you, they do not want you to look bad in their stuff.

Urban Decay Naked Basics is the best palette of all. I have blue eyes and use this palette the most. Whenever I don't, I regret it.

I don't like any waterproof mascara.

I have blue eyes. For neutral colors I go with browns but when I want to make my eyes really pop I use a gold eyeshadow with violet eyeliner. I read about that somewhere as a tip for blue eyes. Really does work on me. I'm fair skinned also.

Bare minerals creases for me.

I like smash box, they have a long lasting shadow.

I like browns and coppers to make my eyes pop.

Well, I was going to recommend the naked basics, lol... I just read a review for a Nars pencil in parrot, a beauty editor said a very thin line over a grey liner gave a great subtle pop. I'm intrigued.

The Coastal Scents Revealed palette is a good, inexpensive dupe for the UD Naked 1, 2 & 3 palettes.

100% agree. I know Wet N Wild is kinda known for being "cheap" but their eye shadows are amazing!! They stay on all day, great colors. There is one shade they have that works perfect for me. I have not been able to find it in other brands.

I am a MAC loyalist but will have to try Wet N Wild! Thanks!

I’m blonde, blue eyes and fair skin. I did a total makeover at Sephora and the eyes shadow colors were Bobby Brown Shell17 over entire eyelid to brow and Bobby Brown Taupe4 in crease. Very quick and easy to do.

I’m not sold on the Bobby Brown over any other shadow I’ve owned. I just went with it because of the colors. I have a red toned skin. The color of brown can differ I’m sure depending upon your skin tone. There are so many variations that might have either a red base or green. Same with crème colors I’m sure some are more blue based as opposed to red.

I would definitely recommend going to Sephora and asking for help.

For us older ladies lining the upper lid under the lashes is key. Really opens up your eyes. The best liner I’ve found for this is Clique gel quick liner. I use 10 Dark Chocolate. It does not dry out. Even the most expensive liner pencils I have had dried out within a few uses.

I love this tip! I just saw it in a makeup video yesterday and I'm going to try it.

I'm getting so much good info on this thread, I'm going to post my own

I'm so excited! I just subscribed to Birchbox and this is one of the items in this month's box. It's being shipped now so hopefully will be able to try it soon.
