Has anyone switched from BE to another foundation?

I just don't think I'm getting good coverage anymore with BE minerals for foundation. Maybe it is all the peach fuzz, I don't know. I feel it also gets into my pores and is tough to get out.

Has anyone switched to another type of foundation and found to like it more?

I am a former BE user. I switched to Smoky Mountain Minerals about 6 years ago and it! SMM does not contain bismuth oxycholoride like BE and is about 1/3 the price. The light shade matches my skin perfectly.
Have you tried using a primer? That may help the foundation to go on easier and look smoother.

I don't like ANY foundations. I will probably try another sometime but for now I just skip that step.

I'm thinking about trying Jane Iredale mineral makeup. I am not thrilled with any of my foundations lately.

I haven't tried that one, Christal. I've tried Smokey Mountain Minerals, though. None of the bad stuff in it but it still doesn't work as promised.

I have spent a lot of money over the years and none actually look good on me, IMO. I have not read reviews on any that cause me to believe any do what they promise. I use concealer where needed & a touch of bronzer & blush and call it good.

I totally sympathize. It is really hard to find foundations that look good AND don't make my skin freak out. In my younger years, I had great success with finding great foundations, but now, it's like ?????

Now, I just want something that has a nice matte finish, full coverage (at least until my recent breakouts subside) and a good color match. Is that too much to ask??

I finally went to a skincare specialist at a spa today. I've never done that before in my life. She said it actually looks like an allergic reaction instead of acne. That had crossed my mind, but I wasn't sure. Now I need to figure out what in the world is causing it. Can a person be allergic to corn syrup/sugar? What about some of the ingredients in liquid makeup or talc (a key ingredient in a foundation I've used)? I guess anything is possible. I'm even wondering about some gluten-free foods I've started eating lately. Maybe they don't agree with me.

The skincare lady said Jane Iredale is one of the best mineral makeups out there. Pricey, but I just want something that WORKS. I'm tired of looking and throwing money away on stuff I end up not using.

If I could get reasonably clear, I would love to be able to do what you're doing. That sounds very free!

I had issues with the regular BE foundation.
I switched to Tarte Amazonian Clay, but felt like I was putting a layer of "stuff" on my skin. DD22 suggested I try BE MATTE foundation.....

I LOVE this stuff.
It does not settle into my pores, fine lines, etc.
I truly have noticed a difference, love the coverage and smoothness.

I have tried ALOT of foundations over the years and this is the first time I have bought one repeatedly.

I wish I liked BE Matte. Or tarte...or anything! lol...

I think the one I liked best might have been the L'Oreal/Covergirl one Ellen did commercials for. I'd try that line again.

But nothing is so much easier & less frustrating.

Midnight Blue - I have super sensitive skin. I am allergic to corn in any kind of form, but I have not considered it as affecting my skin.

I'm thinking of getting away from the mineral stuff and maybe trying something with a little more oomph. I was looking at the QVC site and a Clinique foundation looked interesting, with good reviews from former BE users.

What is the difference between matte BE foundation and the regular stuff? Is is a different form?

eta: Deb, is that the stuff that is swirled? I tried that via a bzzz campaign. I thought that stuff was awful! It felt like a layer of yucky goop on my face.

The matte BE does not have Bismuth oxychloride in it which causes itching in many of us - myself included. I use the BE matte in Fairly Medium and like it well enough. I have recently begun using the color matching Argan oil foundation from Josie Maran and like it very well. Her finishing powder is great too.

Yes, it is the swirled stuff! I got it first through BzzAgent, too. I liked it better than othe foundations but it was not good enough to keep me using it.

I honestly don't believe there is a foundation invented that I would like enough to use regularly.

I'm allergic to corn too (among other things... sadly). I was thinking that my sweet tooth has been too active lately. I really love the little York peppermint patties and I think one of the main ingredients is corn syrup. I was wondering if that was messing me up. I guess one way to tell is to stop eating anything with corn syrup in it and see if my skin clears.

Back in the day (looong ago) I loved Clinique's Pore Minimizer makeup. It was basically an alcohol solution and pigment. My dermatologist told me it was one of the few foundations that would not cause pimples. I wore it for a really long time. It was awesome for oily, problem skin. I used it until I took Accutane, which dried me out too much for that makeup. I haven't used a Clinique foundation since then.... they seemed to not have enough coverage to satisfy me.

I haven't checked their line for a long time. I should look again, see what's new.

I am not familiar w/ the mineral based foundations. Do they give better coverage?

I think it depends on the user. Some people like them and some people don't.

I had to switch to Everyday Minerals. No bismuth, and her philosophy is great! I do keep a spritzer bottle with distilled water in it, and spritz my face lightly when all done. It seems to set the minerals, and takes the powder off the peach fuzz....

I didn't like the BE matte....EDM has several finishes to choose from...matte, semi matte, and original glo which is like regular BE, and the intensive coverage. The brushes she carries ROCK!

This is the one I'm thinking about trying. I would love to feel it on my face before buying it, though. I guess my best solution is to head to the mall and the fancy makeup counters.

Clinique Almost Powder Makeup - QVC.com

Midnight - that pore version is the one I used 30 years ago, too.

Thanks for the link Flowerpower! It looks like the reviews are really positive. My only question (as always!) is coverage level, but this sounds buildable without getting cakey. If you get it, I would love to hear your opinion!

My dd turned me on to Everyday Minerals. It's all I use. They just had a sale and I stocked up on the color I wear in the summer. It's great IMO.

I used to use BE but then it seemed they changed the forumula and I hated it.

I can't stand liquid foundations. I didn't start wearing foundation until I was about 37. I could get away with it, but not now. I'm scary plain.

I just switched from Clinque Superpowder Double Face Makeup... Probably the same thing as the QVC stuff... to Makeup - Face - Foundations - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF 10 — Estée Lauder Official Site

The powder base was starting to look cakey on my skin... I needed more of a cream... I did/do love the Double Powder.

I went to Carson's and the Estee Lauder counter will match up your skin color and send you home with samples. I also tried the foundation for older skin but the Double Wear felt better.

All of you who use EM - how did you find your color match?
I have read many reviews from BE users who switched either because they liked EM better or the EM were even cheaper........I'd be willing to check it out!

I love the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers - have been wearing it for a couple of years now. I tried a couple of other mineral brands (but not BE) and they looked atrocious! I have large pores, and it was like they were magnified. YUCK!

Neutrogena gives minimal to full coverage, depending on how it's applied. My skin is extremely sensitive, plus I have acne scars and rosacea veins (yes, beautiful). This makeup gives me a flawless, natural look. Love, love, love it!

Oh yeah - no weird fragrance, either, which my skin can't take, anyway.

I went to a mall makeup counter and tried the Clinique stuff. It didn't seem to cover much, the the makeup lady probably didn't put much on me.

I think I'll give the BE matte a try, based on Radmom and gello's posts. I do have problems with BE itching, but it goes away once I put on the mineral veil.

For those that use BE matte, do you still use the mineral veil?

For those using the EM stuff, do you need foundation and veil, too?

My daughter uses the Neutrogena minerals and likes it. I do use Neutrogena skin products with good success.

My original question was really something other than the powdery minerals, but I guess I should stick with it. A light liquid would be nice, though.

I just ordered the 7 piece sample kit from Everyday Minerals. It only cost $2.71, so figured it was worth a try. I still wonder about the need for a 2nd layer of stuff like mineral veil over the base foundation stuff, though.

.
The Estee Lauder Counter gave me some small trial size containers of different bases. They have empty containers that they will put various samples in.
That is how I decided that I liked the Double Wear that I went with.

I needed to get away from the powder base for awhile as my skin is changing as I am aging!

I just started using a prescription Retin-A cream in the hopes to 'freshen' up my skin... (I also get adult acne on my chin/mouth area and have noticed that my skin is less forgiving in the healing process each month... I am hoping that the Retin-A will help with the scaring in this area of my face)

Thanks Gladsome. I didn't have much time at the mall, as I was with my daughter at mom's weekend. I'll make another trip to the mall one of these days and try out the others as you have suggested.

When I think of Estee lauder, I think of my grandmother (actually fond memories) - sounds kind of old fashioned, but I'm sure they have kept up with the times.

Mineral Veil is pretty much a finishing powder to make skin look air brushed & flawless. Its comparable to putting a loose or pressed powder over liquid or cream foundation.
You mentioned looking for a light liquid foundation. I use Smoky Mountain Minerals (powder foundation) and it..but..if you are looking for liquid, SMM also makes a liquid mineral foundation you may like.
