anyone here have rosacea?

I have developed it over the last few years...sadly
I never had bad skin...I am 62, and within the last 4 months my skin is now having acne like breakouts.... anyone have any solutions other than going on perscription drugs, which right now I do not want to do!

I developed rosacea when I was on prednisone daily for my RA. When I went gluten free it started fading and is almost gone now. If I accidentally consume gluten I can feel my face start to get hot and I have that burning sensation. I think my rosacea is more of a gluten reaction than true rosacea. I've read where others with gluten allergies or intolerances can have it and it gets better when they cut out gluten. It's worth a try

The mineral type makeup always covered it really well and nobody could tell I had it. I didn't have the breakouts though, just the red, rough area across my cheeks and nose and forehead. I wonder if Proactiv would help with your breakouts? My DD14 uses that for her skin and it's cleared it up nicely. We bought the off brand off ebay and it wasn't as expensive.

I also wonder if coconut oil would help. Many people here use it to clean their face and while it's oily, it has antibiotic properties to it that helps clear up the skin.

I know it's frustrating going from clear skin to rosacea

I hope this helps

I have read that buckthorn oil is very helpful. I plan on getting some from Amazon one of these days. Its pretty expensive though. I dont get breakouts, just redness, mostly on arms & under my neck. Much worse when I am nervous. Evening primrose oil helps a little an low carbing does too.

I have it, but it was brought under control with Metronidazole lotion (prescription from dermatologist). Mine wasn't really break out looking. I got blister-like things on my nose. Now I just use the Metronidazole if I see spots starting up again on my nose.

I have rosacea but have only had one breakout that was more than just some red patches. That one was caused by sunscreen that I apparently can no longer tolerate.

I wash my face with gentle soap and wear mineral makeup if I want to cover the redness. I don't want to go on a prescription antibiotic.
