Tarte Cosmetics

I've been reading about Tarte & Amazonian Clay. It sounds like the perfect ingredient for all skin types. I'd love to hear reviews if any of you've tried anything from the line.

A little about tarte...

Quote:
tarte creator Maureen Kelly set out to create a line that proves glamour can be good for you. She pioneered the use of high-performance naturalsTM — ground-breaking eco-technology that delivers clinically proven results using natural ingredients.

From the proprietary t5 super fruit complexTM found in their iconic Natural Cheek Stains to the skin-replenishing benefits of Amazonian clay — "nature's most perfect ingredient" — found in their Amazonian clay-infused foundation, tarte is a leader in natural beauty. But it's not just about what's in the healthy formulas; it's what's not in them that really sets tarte apart! tarte is free of parabens, petro-chemicals, phthalates, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances, just to name a few!

So remember: be green, be smart, be tarte!!

Amazonian clay, nature's most perfect ingredient, acts as a total skin balancer by helping to reduce dryness and flakiness, improve clarity, and minimize fine lines.

Well, I know by the views there are lots of you interested or at least curious. I suppose I'm going to have to buy some & review it for ya?

I have oily/combination skin & reviews say it soaks up the oil so you don't get that shiny freshly glazed donut look partway through the day. It is also said to reduce the appearance of pores & fine lines.

I bought the Flawless Face kit from them at Sephora last year. I'll review the things that were in the kit.

Tarte ReCreate™ Anti-Aging Foundation With Wrinkle Rewind™ Technology SPF 15
Didn't care for this foundation. It's very runny and didn't provide great coverage. It also got a little streaky after awhile and I could see it on my skin after a couple hours. Would not repurchase.

Tarte Provocateur Mineral Pressed Powder SPF 8
Neutral on this. It was fine, but not great. Would not repurchase.

Tarte Mineral Powder Bronzer
REALLY like this bronzer. Would definitely repurchase.

4 in 1 Natural Concealer
Did not like the concealer. It didn't conceal anything. Would not repurchase.

Clean Slate Primer
It was fine. I don't usually use primer, so not sure how it stands up to other primers. Would not repurchase.

So, all in all, I wasn't super impressed. I've also tried their now discontinued foundation, Peaches and Cream, and had another case of it just sitting on my skin after a few hours. This was the opposite of the foundation above in that it was more of a mousse texture.

For some context, I have sensitive combination skin. I get lots of flakies, esp on my cheeks, which tend to cling to foundation, so if you don't have to worry about this, the foundation may have a different effect on you. I just cannot do mousse foundations. The ReCreate foundation just seemed to oxidize rather quickly though, so that's a whole other issue.

My roommate has Smooth Operator and also thinks it's just fine. Not bad, but not great.

From the way they describe their products, they sound so fabulous/healthy/nutritive/etc that I really want to like them more then I do. Since my (and my roommate's) experience with their products has been neutral though and not actually bad, it may be that they do look great on other skin types. It's probably worth giving it a shot (esp with their 40% off FF deal!)

Good luck! Hope you like it!

I have no experience with anything other then their vitamin-infused lipglosses - but I'm pleased. The determining factor was definitely the no parabens, no mineral oil, etc. I can't remember that statistic about how much lipstick a woman ingests in her lifetime - but I decided at least it won't be ALL bad stuff for me!

Thanks for your reviews Ashley! Is that foundation the liquid one? I noticed they have a powder one, too.

I need to use the foundation I have first but I might Tarte next. Unless I succumb to the next best thing...

I've used the glosses and chapsticks and I love them.

I've used the cheek stain, and think it's wonderful. *sigh*

I tried the cheek stain and I was like It was not smooth, it skipped across my skin, it was hard as can be to blend.

Went back to my Avon blush stick. Lasts forever so pick a color you like! LOL

I'm getting a bunch of Tarte products so let's keep our fingered crossed that they're good. I'll let you know. They're getting great reviews & I can't wait to try everything.

This is the kit I got. It is my first Tarte purchase. It will be QVC's Today's Special Value on Monday.

The shadows are wonderful shades. I was afraid they'd be too sparkly but they are not. The gloss feels great but I think it is too pale & shimmery for me to wear alone. Maybe over a deeper color. I have not tried the foundation or blush yet. I'll try the entire look tomorrow.

This is getting rave reviews as one of the best kits ever. I am looking forward to trying the foundation (I got medium) & blush.

The blush does last 12 hrs...actually longer.

Mom complimented me on my make-up today & said she meant to mention it yesterday.

I have never found a make-up I actually like so I am waiting to pass judgment on this one. BUT... I love the application. The foundation brush is amazing. i'm still working on using the right amount of foundation on the brush. You need less than the amount suggested. Good coverage, too.

I got this as the TSV as well...on the QVC board people were raving more about the foundation and brush on this kit..which is why I bought it to try something new.

I was hoping for a better demonstration on the foundation.
How do you clean the brush afterwards?

I do have a Tarte mascara which I like, but is different than the one in this kit

I'm really enjoying these products.

I read that the foundation was drying for some so I had to experiment. I used it w/o a primer for a couple days and one cheek got dry & flaky. That cleared up a couple days after I started using my primer again.

Deb - I love this kit.
The eye shadows are amazing.
The brush is one of the best I have ever used.
The eyeliner lasts ALL day and is a very flattering color.

I really like the foundation and have not found it to be drying, although I use Laura Geller's Spackle under it!

The brush is amazing. It is all good. I have always smudged liner because it tends to transfer on top of my shadow if I don't, This liner stays put without smudging. I was wearing the eye make-up today when I took a nap & everything stayed where it belonged.

Same here!

Oh, I wore BE shadow & liner today. The shadow stayed put (I use primer) but the eyeliner completely disappeared by the end of the day.

OMG Deb; how did you find that out?

Again, colors I can use.
This is one line that I had not tried until this kit and I love it all! I looked and found the liner in the current kit, I may buy a couple more.

I think this is a Deb and Cindy love Tarte Thread!

Tarte is on the Q at 10 central time tonight!
