A few weeks ago the skin on my eyelids had gotten so dry that it BURNED when I put on my Olay complete. After reading a bit I grabbed a cotton ball and put on some olive oil, it immediately felt better.

I did that for a few days and then decided to try using it as a cleanser.

I've been doing it for a little over 2 weeks and OMG my skin feels SO much better! and looks SO much better!

Every morning when I shower I wet my face, rub in the olive oil then take a hot wash cloth and wipe it off.

The little waddle of wrinkly skin I was getting on my neck from losing weight is going away, I kid you not!

Ive been oil cleansing with CO and having great results. Usually in the winter I get dry patches on my face-no more! No TOM breakouts + the chicken pox scar on my face is almost non exsistant. I had to look twice the other day bc I didn't see it. So, I am using CO on my surgery scars (and stretch marks)-hope it can help those too!

I just tried this before bed with Olive Oil and Castor Oil (50/50). Not too bad! I'm impressed! I put a little vitamin E oil on after I washed. I look forward to trying this over the next few days!

For me, no. It's kinda hard to show LACK of pimples and additional scarring. Since the thing was I'd get repeating pimples on my face in the same place till they turned to big fluffy dark scars then it would start in other places. When I started using oil, they stopped popping up as often, so I look the same as I did before, I have No New scars. That's kinda hard to "show"

plus i never was inclined to take close up pictures of the patchy spots on my nose.

But it would be nice if someone had really bad skin that Oil Treatment visibly improved that could show it.

Hi, found a thread on this on the playground.
I started this about 3 days ago, have noticed that the slight rosaciea (sp) on my nose has gotten waaaaay lighter, also the spider veins I have on either side of my nose (don't know if thats part of the rosacia or years of sinus problems) are also getting lighter.

What I do, when I get home from work, I use a mix of 50/50 castor oil and olive oil. I put it on my face and wipe it right off to get my make-up off. After that I put on some more, and let it stay on my face for about half an hour (about the time it takes me to log onto Farmville and harvest my crops, answer my requests, etc., LOL) Then I wash it off in the shower.

It can be:
  • Cleanser
  • Moisturizer for day
  • Moisturizer for night
  • Facial treatment - leave on extra long before removing

I do use other products, too.

Can I use coconut oil instead of olive oil? And I have dry skin, what ratio should I use? And will this get rid of wrinkles?

Thanks!

Coconut oil is fantastic for this (my fav is sunflower seed, though). I'd start off with at least 75% coconut oil, 25% castor oil. If you're getting too dry, add some more coconut oil to it. If your skin is really, really dry, cut the castor oil way down.

Just wanted to add that when using it as a moisturizer ( as in not rinsing it off) i have found an eye dropper handy in controlling the amount of oil I put in the palm of my hand so I don't have a lot of excess.

I read an article the other day about how/why Castor Oil is better for cleansing than other oils. I've had a long day & am tired but I'll see if I can dig it up & post the info later this week.

Oh, and skip adding the lavender, OK? I haven't read the details but supposedly it is not good for us. I'll have to check the research on that, too.

Anyone who does this live in hot humid weather? I saw a video and the woman broke out in pimples when she did OCM in the summer. And where I live it's basically summer 10 months out of a year. So I'm kinda worried...

So I started this today. I went to five pharmacies before I found Castor oil LOL

I have a problem. I don't know how to massage my face, Is this the "piano" thing that I've seen or are you ladies rubbing the oil into your skin. When I put the oil on my face, it gets absorbed almost immediately, should I use more? Should it be really greasy when I do the massage?

I used Castor oil, coconut oil, emu oil and spritzed a bit of vit c and e serum, just because I have it and wanna use it up.

Massage, as in body massage. Massaging your facial muscles underneath your skin. Tapping is unlikely to get much gunk out of your skin or stimulate anything other than superficial blood flow. And don't worry about pulling your skin, you're not doing that, the oil allows your fingers to press into your skin to massage with minimal friction.

Think relaxation massage.

So I did this last night. I did it again today. Just half an hour after I wiped off the oils, a huge bump appeared on my left cheek

The reason I did this was to get rid of some small bumps that I think are whiteheads although they don't really look white. They're like tiny bumps under the skin, I don't know if that's what milia is. Anyway I have a lot of those on my right cheek but none on the left. And now I have a big bump on my left cheek!

Is this the purging? Should I be washing it off with a facial cleanser and use a toner and my day/night creams on? The bump feels hard, it doesn't hurt and it's not red so I know it's not a pimple nor a bug bite. Please help. I'm kinda panicking. Thanks.

I did this today, along with dry skin brushing. My skin does feel better, but the olive oil stinks! I will have to try another oil or the olive oil that is not extra virgin.

Dollkey, all I can really answer is that no, you don't need to use another cleanser to wash it off. (It is the cleanser. Just take a hot wet wash cloth and wash it off. Then use a toner if you like (I never do)(don't think there would be a problem using a toner), and then you can use your day/night cream.
And yes, I think that is probably is the purging effect. Many people say they have breakouts when they first start using it (the purging effect) then they clear up.
I would also (going back to an earlier post) use more of the oil, if it is soaking right in. Just apply enough so that it no longer soaks right in.

I personally don't do the "method" as I just don't take that much time. I just use the oils to wash my face. But thats me!! I know the "method" would be better.

Hi Everyone!

I had actually googled using coconut oil to see if anyone was using it to clean like I was or if I was just insane, and here you are. And BONUS, I'm already a member!

As I said, I use coconut oil, but my approach is slightly different....

I take a dime of coconut oil after wetting my face and neck with hot water, and really massage it in, like Jazzlebug says. It creates this waxy finish on my skin and so when I'm finish massaging, I begin rinsing with warm water, but stop JUST at that point when I'm starting to feel the texture of skin beneath the waxiness. Then I stop and splash with cold water on. I do this in the shower in the morning and at night before bed, although I leave just bit more waxiness at night.

This is what I've been doing in the winter, on occasion adding a touch more for added moisture, but usually not. I suspect the only thing I'll need to adjust for summer is how much waxiness to leave.

My pores are amazingly clean, and my face is soft. Some lines have diminished, and other haven't, but I'm not so concerned with lines. My main concern was with having, what I discovered to be, dehydrated skin. Once hydrated, I have no problems, unless I eat something I'm sensitive or allergic to, otherwise I have beautiful skin.

I don't blow my money on the organic stuff either. Quite frankly, the cheap coconut oil has done me well. And since 50ml lasts me a month, and that's doing my entire body too, and conditioning the ends of my hair, I'm quite happy!

WOE: Giving JUDDD a try!
I really, really wish I could do this. I have tried olive oil and coconut oil (separately), but both of them irritate my face so badly that after one use, I am left with what looks and feels like a wind burn/chapped, red, dry rash on my face. It looks horrible and feels even worse. I do have allergies, so maybe that is why. I can ingest both oils, but even the olive oil soap made by Kiss My Face does this to me. I have considered getting castor oil and trying it alone, but am afraid it won't be any better.

I have black heads and white heads, and occasionally larger bumps. It's really weird because I have the oily t-zone, but the skin on my forehead and eyebrow area is not only very oil, but also dry and flaky. Very weird. Thought that OCM might help, but no such luck.

Any ideas, suggestions, or similar experiences?

After using a 50/50 mix of olive oil and castor oil to cleanse my face I have to stop. It dried my skin out horribly. I swear it aged my skin several years. How on earth can using oil do that?
