I use a mixture of grapeseed oil and lavender oil............

The astringent properties in the grapeseed oil have healed my face tremendously.............

I see a lot of different methods of face cleasing out here and, if the Oil Cleansing Method (CO/EVOO mix) doesn't work, I am willing to try something else... that's for sure!

I may try that one too. I'll make sure I give each option time to work though before I do. Doesn't lavender have some type of healing properties too?

OK just got done with my first try @ oil cleansing. I used 75% Castor oil and 25% EVOO.

My face feels quite silky.... and tighter without actually feeling tight. Although I don't see much of a difference in the blackheads and large pores on my nose, I wasn't expecting to yet. I plan on doing this twice a day for the next week and will report my results.

WOE: one day at a time!!
Start Date: July 14, 2003 - every day!!
I tried this a few times a week ago, and didn't keep up with it. I broke out all week and my face is a mess. I hope that's a good thing. I re-started two days ago and am cleaning my face twice a day with the oil mixture. I'm giving it a week and will see how it does. The skin feels ok, but the breakouts are scaring me. The whole oil on your face thing and then breakouts. My dh was like "well, what did you expect". Tried to explain that it was pulling out the junk. He wasn't buying it . Hope to post good results soon.

Hang in there Julie, It gets better, really. And that's exactly what's happening. All the gunk is coming to the surface. When it's all gone your skin will be radiant.

You all have me intrigued. I think I will give this a try. I've been using EMU oil as a moisturizer and have been rather happy with that. But no matter the skin regime I follow, I've always got blackheads and blocked pores. My skin is generally pretty nice, and I look young for my age. But up close in a mirror -- I'm full of gunk and always have been. My favorite past time is attempting to clear the blackheads from my chin - but they're right back the next day.

So, I will give this a shot and report back.

Yep!

Maybe add some tea tree oil to your mixture.

I am on day 3 of the OCM. I have lots of blackheads in my nose and my pores are pretty big there. Other parts of my face are either VERY oily or VERY dry.

So far things seem to be working well. I am not a person who breaks out in acne all the time... and I STARTED with NO zits and only the blackheads on my nose.

This morning there was a HUGE under the skin bump along my hairline and I found a blackhead along my lip line... where I hadn't had a blackhead in YEARS!! I am taking this as a VERY GOOD SIGN that the CO/EVOO mix is working it's magic and geting all the deep ICK out!

I'm cleansing morning and night and giving this a week... along with doing a week of Oil Pulling.

~D

PS>>>> Is everyone using this on their eyelids as well? I have the last 2 times I cleansed.

I was just wondering. I RARELY wear make-up so I didn't know if this was ONLY used on the eyelids to take the make-up off or if it can be used in conjunction with regular cleansing.

PS>>> I am breaking out some so I believe this is workng it's magic!

Our eyelids are the thinnest skinned part of our face so dries out very quickly. I think using this on your eyes helps hold in the moisture better.

Actually, my eyelids are VERY oily (I have to wash them with baby shampoo twice a day) so I was wary about using the OCM. So far it works like a dream!

This is my regular cleansing of my whole face! The eyelid question was whether it could be used on the eyelids.
If your eyelids are super oily, you should probably be using the %age (sorry can't remember them off had, it is way up the thread somewhere) that is for oily skin, at least on them, if you aren't already. (Maybe you are!)
(Sorry if I misread you post.)

I don't wear eye makeup, but I do use it on my eyelids when I cleanse my face. This is the only cleanser I use on my face anymore.

OH my, you ask hard questions....
I started using it sometime last year... I really can't remember when... Early part of the year tho I think.
I rarely wash it more than once a day. Usually in the morning. To be quite honest, some days I'm home alone all day, and I know no one will be around (I live in the country). Sometimes I just get up get dressed, then forget to wash my face.

I thought I should have this "recipe" in my computer, and have been looking to see when I "filed" it. Haven't found it so far.

I just found an email that I sent to my sister about it. I sent it to her in Jan of last year. I had been using if for a while before that, but can't remember how long before that.

I keep missing days. I'll just wash my face in the shower some days. Do any of you "regulars" do that too? Will it still be effective? Silly question, I know, but just checking. Thanks!

I got my castor oil and EVOO, mixed it up this morning and tried it for the first time. I like it; my skin feels soft and tight at the same time. I love finding natural treatments and cleansers like this!

I did apply a moisturizer with sunscreen afterward.

Anybody still doing this? This is my 2nd day and I don't see any significant different. If any, it looks like my skin is dry. Maybe I should use more olive oil.

Oh, and has anybody tried to do it by pure Castor first then Olive?

I started oil cleansing about two weeks using 50/50 castor oil/EVOO. I like the way my skin feels, but I haven't noticed a reduction in the blackheads on and around my nose. Yuck!

I plan to keep using it. I like the price!

I never do the full "routine", but I always use it to wash my face. It's great.
My skin is dry. I use about a 3:1 EVOO/Castor oil ratio. My skin doesn't feel dry after using it.

I admit, I still use moisturizers on my face after washing, but I know of no cleanser that I wouldn't need to. I use a mixture of coconut oil & other oils for my moisturizer. Works great! (Coconut oil by itself is a great moisturizer, but I add some other good for your skin oils.)

I think I started the castor/olive cleansing about a month ago. I IT! I use a 75% castor oil/25% olive oil mix and I get a great balance of softness without being oily or dry. I only use it once a day, every other day when showering.

I never used just straight castor oil. I think that may be too rough on your skin. You need to work out a good balance for your own skin... perhaps a 50/50 blend would be OK for you Anti. Just don't give up b/c this stuff IS great!

LaRae ~ Like you, I've not seen any difference in the size of my pores or the blackheads on my nose.... but nothing ELSE has worked on them and the CO/EVOO I wash with keeps me from having oily/dry skin so I refuse to give that up!
