Melatonin

Anyone take this as a sleep aid? I am wondering if there is an optimal time to take it, I don't want to be drowsy during the evening but would like to fall asleep quickly once I go to bed.

Melatonin

Hi,
Yes I take melatonin and magnesium citrate right before bedtime. I use source naturals sublingual and it takes about 20 minutes to dissolve under the tongue. This works really well for me takes about 30 minutes until asleep. No grogginess for me. Sometimes I have to wake in the middle of the night to go to work because of being on call. I can easily awaken without grogginess to go to work my husband takes it too,we both sleep very well. I really like it, some people find when they first start to use it, they have vivid or crazy dreams, however that has not been the case for me. Hope I answered your question.

I take it an hour before bed and go to sleep the instant my head hits the pillow most nights.

Taken in combination with magnesium really helps. We use Calm Magnesium which is a powder that you dissolve in water. Works wonders alongside melatonin.

I took the melatonin and it only helped slightly, so I tried a few more carbs in the evening via green salad and have slept like a rock the last three nights... hoping it lasts!

I was taking 1 mg but had to stop as it was keeping me sleepy all the next day. I usually get very drowsy about 20 minutes after taking it. Husband takes same dose and it works as well as OTC sleeping pills for him.

I think the dosage just depends on how much you need it. My mom takes a large dose.

I tale liquid sublingual melatonin----but, it has sugar in it. It works great and I'm out within a half hour. Its a trade off, but I accept it.
