levaquin antibiotic
I needed a strong antibiotic for an abscessed tooth and I'm allergic to penicillin. I am kind of freaking out by the possible side affects. Also, antibiotics sometimes make me stall or gain. Does anyone have any experience with this?

PLEASE take extra magnesium when taking this drug. It will reduce the risks of the drug as it is well known to cause tendon ruptures.

This is not medical advice, just a trick I learned that could possibly help.

I really thought I responded to this but either way - I started having pretty weird pain in my elbow so I am off of it. My dentist is on vacation so a different dentist called in amoxicillin for me (I think, I have to get it today). I hate amoxicillin, it makes me so sick! And I don't think it has the intensity that my dentist was hoping for.

Looks like I'll be popping probiotics. I can't find full fat yogurt anywhere

Sorry that should say erythromycin not amoxicillin

The biggest risk for tendon rupture with that particular broad spectrum antibiotic is if you take it plus steroid (oral). I've had to do it several times...and when I finally took the time to research just how 'many' people have ruptured tendens from it...it's like less than one in 30,000. Levaquin has saved my life a couple of times..worked when nothing else did, and I was hospitalized..which is the only way I'll use it (being on steroids 24/7).
