numbness?

Hi All... I randomly get numbness in my hands/fingers and was wondering if any of you experience this? I'm not sure if its weight related or not...It happens when I'm playing piano, driving and the past couple nights I woke up in the middle of the night and experienced it. I've scheduled a doctors appt but in the interim am trying to figure out what it could be. Thanks so much for any feedback!

My mother gets that and it's been diagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Those were my symptoms when I has carpal tunnel syndrome.

Before you get treated, be sure to have your doctor check your thyroid.

I was hypothyroid but undiagnosed for 5 years. During that time, I had carpal tunnel surgeries on each wrist, but I later learned that it can be caused by untreated hypothyroidism.

Had I been correctly diagnosed by my primary doctor (I'd complained about thyroid symptoms, but he insisted that I was 'normal'), the thyroid hormones would have relieved my carpal tunnel without surgery.

This is not always true, but it's best to be checked before proceeding with surgery.

Thanks...I thought about carpal tunnel syndrome but wasn't sure. I'll have them check my thyroid first though...maybe if its that I'll lose weight super fast! lol

I did a little self treatment for this - you can buy wrist/hand braces at the drug store. I slept in them everynight for a few months, and my numbness disappeared.

Plus I felt like spiderman with them on - enpowering!
