Bowel Prep
 

So next thursday I have surgery (hysterectomy) and the day before I have that Wonderful bowel prep! Ugh!! I start it at 2:30pm and after that's done I was told I could have broth, jello etc.. Any other ideas on things I can have?

I have to do this every year - I usually make a bone broth, drink lots of water and sf sprite, and that's pretty much it. You'll find the day goes quickly, and once you start prep you're not intersted in food anyway! Also, if they're making you drink the liquid, the laxative powder works just as well in water as it does in gatorade. Good luck with your surgery!!

I have to take something called Golytly. And dreading it So much!

Golyte prep is horrid & nothing makes it taste better. Good luck!

Speaking from past experience............get the softest toilet tissue ever made for the bowel prep !!!

I literally cannot drink that stuff. When I have to do a bowel prep I have to drink mag-citrate. It's bad, but not as bad as the Golytle. My husband can drink it down like nobody's business. My throat closes up and refuses to go down. Good luck with your surgery, Princessmommy.

I had to do this for a colonoscopy, the prep was far worse than the procedure! Hope you made it through okay!
