Digestive issues - enzymes? Hcl? both? (Probably TMI!)

Dear LCF "doctors,"
Here's the scoop:
I have been gluten intolerant since 2003, so my stomach issues (which are much improved since those days) are not due to gluten. I also don't think it's a lactose thing, because the real problem I have is that I don't seem to be able to digest anything raw.
All raw fruits, veg, and nuts go right through me. Apples and tomatoes are particularly problematic.
I have a lot of stomach/gut pain. My BMs are often full of undigested foods. I am not constipated but I have a lot of pain in my colon/lower belly. I had 1 previous incidence of diverticulitis about 4 years ago and none since then, but I often have twinges in that spot.
I eat a lot less fruit/veg than I'd like due to this problem.
When I've done hHCG and kept my calories/food intake really low it's gotten a lot better. I don't really know what that means but thought I'd throw it in the mix.
I can digest things like shirataki noodles just fine, so it's not all fiber, just the raw fruit and veg. kind.
So - I'm thinking I need digestive enzymes, right? What about hcl? I don't have heartburn.
This has been a problem for years, but whatever is wrong with me is flaring up right now. Not sure why!

Hi Agee. I’m not sure how much help I can offer you. I have been trying to get a handle on digestive issues since Spring of this year. I too am gluten and dairy intolerant. I have Microscopic Colitis.

I have been having luck with Wobenzym and Bromelain and Papain mix. I also take a good quality Probiotic daily.

It’s worth a try. I don’t think there is anything in Digestive Enzymes that will hurt you.

Hi Erin 57- glad to have found you here. I have had MC (lymphocytic) for years, I believe, but just diagnosed this past summer. Am taking entecort, which was helping, but now that I am weaning down I have had a moderate increase in symptoms. I am also on vacation, so it might be that I am eating foods I am not used to eating. Before I was diagnosed, I found that I felt better overall on ATkins, but never stuck with it. Now I realize that I was accidentally eliminating alot of foods that could contribute to MC. My gastro doc believes that MC is autoimmune and I am not likely to find a dietary fix, but I am still going to try. I found one MC support website, but it is great to see someone who is low carbing as well.
