First of all, you need to drink lots of water when you LCarb. I think you might
need to get a suppository at the drug store..Miralax works wonders for people too.

First, eat more foods high in fiber and low in carbs, such as fibrous vegetables like lettuce, celery, etc.

Second, you should talk to a doctor, which I think it always a good idea anyway when on any kind of a new fitness program.

I'm doing low carb too. Make sure you are eating alot of raw veggies. Take herbal remedy Cascara Sagrada everyday, it's a natural herb at your drugstore for about 5 bucks.

Take it from one that knows, get you some Magnesium 250 mg...take 2 3 times a day, that'll get you hopping and pooping.

No...go to the drugstore and get some magnesium sulfate or better yet get a fleet enema..
That should take care of the temporary symptoms, then use magnesium daily.

However, if you think you should go to the hospital, then go.

If you have an Asian market nearby, find a box of "Three Ballerina Tea." Works wonders. Make a cup before bedtime and in the morning you'll be golden.

Increase your fat, definitely take Carolyn's advice and get your magnesium. Someone like you should be on maintenance doses of mag without fail. Your extreme disruption also tells me you have a bacterial imbalance so probiotics I believe are also in order. Be sure there is a bifidum strain in them too.

She'll be explodin' with Three Ballerina Tea. Use with caution and occasionally. It works better than ANY product I have tried.

Hi, Goingto.

Animal fats, more water, magnesium, exercise, and stress reduction.

It takes time for the bowels to adjust to having less bulk to move.

Depending on one's previous diet and the change in diet, it can take a while for the bowels to adjust.

I think the big c is the result of not eating wheat. Other fiber sources such as flax & chia simply do not work the same way.

The sf candy really worked for me! Didn't realize it when I ate it, but thank god! I am going to look for some magnesium this weekend...where to buy and what area of store (vitamins?)?

Not to make light of the OP's uncomfortable situation but there were 4500 views of this thread in 1 day I think we have some stopped up lurkers

I have to agree totally with magnesium citrate. Its dirt cheap, flavored like sprite, completely gentle and will clean you out from top to bottom. Just make sure you stay near a bathroom for 24 hours after drinking it.

Yes, I think it's a common problem, particularly for those of us who are going through hormonal changes and/or struggle with hypothyroidism. This is a new problem for me within the past six months although I've been LC for a year and a half.

Definitely agree with mag citrate for maintenance, but sometimes it's not enough if I'm really constipated. Miralax works without fail. Good luck, everyone!

Miralax (or even the WalMart brand 'Clear Lax') is my daily companion for well over a year now.(I have been constipated my whole life..even as a kid!!!) I also eat 1/4 c.golden flax everyday in the OMM. My liquid intake is at least 10 glasses(8oz.each)...I try to make sure that I stay hydrated. Really do get tired of going to the bathroom but the joy of NO constipation is worth every drop of liquid!

In the past I have tried the psyllium and mega raw veggies, none has given me the comfort that Miralax has....I am so thankful!!! So each morning I dump my daily dose into my coffee cup...plus a Tbsp of Hazelnut S/F Torani's....and I am good to go....
