Stats: 300+/180/???
WOE: gluten free, no chocolate :(
Start Date: about twice a day
I love my jello... oh yum... :/

(Pretty sure this is payback for me complaining last week about what I can't eat...)

I was hospitalized for a few days because of an intestinal problem, and until it's sorted out, I'm quite restricted. It will be a couple of week at least until I can start the new med I need (blood tests, insurance prior authorization, etc) and I don't know how long the med will take to kick in once I start it, either.

So my Dr says I can only eat "clear liquids, juice, jello, and mashed potatoes and puddings, no solids and no fats" - oh yeah, "and no dairy." (I stared at her and asked, "well how do you make YOUR pudding?" She said, "Oh... um...." so I think No pudding either...)

I know I feel best when I eat a sort of modified low-carb diet: no wheat, no processed sugar, low starch (no white starches), no chocolate , but also low fat and not much dairy... It can be hard to keep track of but I know it works for me. (When I bother to pay attention and actually DO it, of course.)

I can't really figure out how to follow the Dr's orders, and my diet, at the same time. Should I just not bother right now, and only go by what the Dr says?

I don't normally eat white potatoes. She said sweet potatoes won't be good for me right now (too much fiber). I drink juice now and then, but not as a staple. I can choke down jello, but I don't usually because the regular jello is just wiggly sugar, and I don't eat artificial sweeteners so no sf jello.

So... broth? I like broth, but for weeks?

I ate mashed potatoes last night. No butter, no milk... not so great and I felt guilty

I told my Dr that Kahlua is a clear liquid; I can live on that She was not amused.

can you go back and get more info? what about whey protein isolate? what part of dairy is she not wanting you to have?

it really sounds like she only wants you to have sugar. that is a problem, yeah. no point in eating the sf jello--you need calories and nutrients, not entertainment for the mouth, right?

you could try making a thin shake of whey protein isolate and water and see how it goes.

this is very difficult, yes! just thinking about it is hard, when we instinctively go for things with fat and fiber as main components.
