2 deaths in 4 months what would you do?

Nicities aside as I know everyone here is very kind and caring - i'll get right to the point - in the last 4 months I have lost 2 relatives - mother and aunt - both cancer -both weird cancers having to do with the liver - neither one was a heavy drinker - both huge dieters - every diet out there - although their weight was not very high - maybe high side of "normal" -always had diet of the day products out - atkins bake mix, Davinci syrups etc... I am trying to take something from this. I have thrown out every chemical sugar substitute, only buying organic meats and vegetables - exercising - anything else?
Thanks for any advice!

I'm so sorry for your loss!!! Have you talked to your doctor about screening yourself. Maybe getting your liver enzymes checked more often?

I'm so sorry. I was thinking you could be proactive in another way - maybe there is a gene you can see if you have to know if this is something you can potentially get? There are lots of articles out there. Maybe you can talk to an oncologist about it and find out everything you can. The more you know, the less scared you will be. I am thinking it may be possible it's like other cancers where you can maybe get a hint that it is something you have to worry about.

I am not much help either, except to investigate herbals which promote healthy liver function.

I do, however, wish to express my deepest sympathies for your losses!

My MIL has had cancer THREE times (she's presently in remission). Her sister died of pancreatic cancer.

Here are my observations: Reduce stress and lighten up. My MIL is one bitter, unhappy woman. I'm convinced stress has played a huge role in her health. My FIL eats whatever the heck he wants and is rarely sick. He's 89 btw. However he eats the highest quality foods not processed garbage that is so prevalent on our shelves today. He loves to eat but it's the good stuff not all this diet stuff.

I am so sorry for your loss, I really truly am. That said. I think (not a doc nor do I play one on tv) that genetics play a role. I also think (again not a doc) that you can give it your best shot. Come on over to the Organic board and peek around. I think you are doing the best you can, ditch the boxes, bottles, cans, mixes, muxes and everything in between.

Get your tests, see your doc then put the highest quality food into your body as you can afford. There are herbs for liver support too if that is a concern like milk thistle. There is lemon for a cleanser too. I am a big proponent of beet kvass. There is a picture of a batch I made last week in the below thread.
