One of these drugs, or maybe its a combination of the two, is giving me tremendous appetite control. I know that's not supposed to be my main concern, but I would hate to lose that by switching. I thought I read somewhere that Klonopin has an effect of being a mood stabilizer, even though that isn't what it initially is rx'd for. Am I confusing that with something else?
I love love love Pristiq. I'm taking it now and have no side effects.

I'm not sure the pristiq is doing anything for me. I may need to give it more time, but usually when I start an AD, I can tell right away if it is going to work or not. I'll have to wait and see.

Upped my Lamicatal to 200 mg. Helps. Was heading into (Ok, had slid into) a depression.
Much better after only 2 days of the increase.

Back from the cruise.

Didn't get much sleep, but I ate perfectly, no cheats, added in a little fresh fruit. No cycling. Just normal Heather, thank God.

A couple days it was very obvious I was medicated but so what? You like me now? Well this is why!

My sister almost had a fit when she saw all my prescription bottles.

FUN! Glad you had a good (and baseline) time!

I can't maintain the Lamectil at 200. It 3rd day it made me start to go up. Screwed up my sleep, and made me very scattered. I don't think that giving it time is a good idea. I was getting higher (emotion wise) by the day and that was NOT cool. The few day pulled me out of the depression, and now I am back to 150. Maybe cycling like that will be the answer. Dunno, I see the Pdoc saturday. I am ready to accept the butt chewing for dropping back down, but I hope he doesn't.

Got referred to a new pdoc. Making an appointment next week. My current doc is worried that I'm hypo right now because I'm having issues with sleeping on Pristiq, and she's probably right.

I feel like I'm in a better position right now to titrate up on Lamictal -- a few months ago I was just soooo crazy depressed and anxious and needed a quicker solution. I'm hoping that the pdoc can wean me off Pristiq and onto a mood stabilizer if that's what I need.

But I have to say, I'm not excited about most of the options. Booo. I HATE that feeling of constantly being hungry all the time that I had on Invega and that crazy restless akathesia on Geodon is horrible...I fear Abilify would affect me the same way. And Zyprexa or Depakote freak me out...honestly I feel a little too 'wound' sometimes but I don't know if I feel or am acting gain-60-lbs-in-4-months bad. KWIM? I've certainly felt before in my history that I felt SO AWFUL that the tradeoff was ok, but I just don't feel that way right now. I don't have any aggression, mixed moods, my depression will hit around TOM but is easily and quickly alleviated, I'm not making stupid decisions, etc. I feel relatively balanced except for a slight 'butterflies in my tummy' feeling all the time and my brain has a hard time shutting off to go to sleep.

So anyway, crossing my fingers that if pdoc decides i need to be on a mood stabalizer, that Lamictal will be the answer and that it will be relatively problem free.

I hope so DJ.

Lamictal has been my mood stabilizer of choice the last few years and until last week has done the job really well. Along with the Ambien to sleep. Started out with Lamectil and seroquel, but the seroquel was overkill. I have Xanax for occasional anxiety, take one at bedtime w/ ambien because that is when I stess the most, yanno, Start thinking about stuff I really can't control.....

Yeah.

A couple days I took my lithium 150's at lunch, just to keep my mood in line.

Pretty medicated today, but it's just me and Ron. He really makes it very clear to me that he prefers me like this, than THAT. I'll ask him to tell me, too.

OK seeing my doc tomorrow. I just saw her but the soonest I can get in with a pdoc is 2 weeks, and I really think I need to start a mood stabalizer sooner rather than later. Hopefully I'll start Lamictal Wednesday. I want to start it while I'm feeling slightly hypo vs. feeling that soul-crushing agonizing depression.

Oh, yeah. I agree.

I tend to run a little "up" due to my antidepressant, and I'm fine with that.

The lithium really works great for me, a helluva price tag at times, but better than being "sick".

Hey everyone. Just checking in, doing good on the lamictal. I started seeing a counselor 2 weeks ago for other stuffs, seems I have control issues. In other words I am a control freak. I never noticed it before. My counselor ( Robin) has me journaling, it has been rather eye opening. The first time I sat down to write, I wrote for 3 hours. Seems I haven't forgiven myself for all the things I did before medication, and that now that I am in control of my life, I want to be in total control. To the point of annoying the hell out of DH. I do have to say, DH is thrilled that I am going to see someone and is, as always, super supportive. But, he did kind of say that if I didn't go, things may not go well for us in the future. But as long as I am trying, he will be right there with me and can't wait to have happily ever after.

My husband is a lot more forgiving than I would have been.

He says "You can never take away my memories of the wild, sexy, manic girl I knew!" So he can take the good with the bad, too.

WTG on getting some "help".

OK people - cross your fingers for me! I just started Lamictal again. Took my first dose a second ago...this is weird because last time my pdoc prescribed a 'starter pack' type thing for me, and this doc just prescribed 25mg twice a day and i'm to stay there until I see my new pdoc. Hmm. But ok. THankfully I'm not in the horrible mental state i was in last time -- so i have time/patience now for this to work.

LOL! Man, I've been sooo good lately but I swear, mid day I was jonesin' for carbs for some reason (this never happens to me lately) and snarfed a Chick-Fil-A original combo with the LARGE waffle fries and a brownie. I was thisclose to asking for ice cream with the brownie. Argh. My stomach hurts from fullness, still. I weigh SIX lbs. more than I did this morning. But my stats are accurate again. LOL!

I'm SO bloated. Ugh. Not having another episode like this soon if I can help it. I was ravenous! But I feel more normal already...weird. It might totally be placebo effect but I'll take it.

My new dentist is BiPolar! He asked about my meds and we talked a long while about high functioning BiPos we know! He said SO many successful people (including docs and dentists that he knows) are BiPo.

I wish I could meet more people like that in real life, Molly.

I always end up at the bus stop with the homeless alcoholic, telling me they have it, too. Ron says it's God's way of keeping me on my meds!

Hi Shane! Do you have bipolar disorder or depression?

I'm taking 25g of Lamictal 2x a day, so I do one in the morning and one at night. I had some real trouble sleeping last night, but I didn't feel really activated. It's weird, I've read it's a tossup for people whether it's going to be sedating or activating, but I just feel really relaxed and a weeeeee bit zombified. I already feel a bit more 'normal' though, so I think the tradeoff will be good.

But at the moment I feel like just laying down and staring straight into space. LOL.

OMG, Lamictal is MAGIC!!!

It's only been a week but I feel sooo much more stable. And, I'm finally able to sleep with just melatonin or over-the-counter sleep stuff. Yay!

I think a guy at work is bipolar.

He acts so much like I used to it's scary, now he thinks we're out to get him.

I am dying to drop a lithium and a risperdal into a soda, and give it to him. I bet it would work.

I won't... but I'm tempted.
