Maybe he is right for himself. For some bodies, vegetarianism might be a better choice. I really think that there must be different body types that respond better to different diets.
Vegetarian or meat eating, No one needs sugar or simple starch! If he likes HIS woe, great, But he needs to do his research!

The delicate acid-base balance in your body was put there by God for a reason, so that every cell in your body will continue to function normally. He shouldn't speak if he doesn't know. Deb

Mary Enig and Sally Fallon have what appears to be "good information" regarding "superfood" nutrition in their book Eat Fat, Lose Fat. Instead of taking all these vitamin supplements they encourage you to eat these superfoods to get nutrition support. Makes a lot of sense really.

Yes it does Pooti! Super Green Foods are awesome and come in many different forms.

Hey Bella
Sounds like your tummy needs an overhaul!
Probiotics
Aloe Vera Juice
Glutamate
All good supps for healing the digestive tract and getting your plumbing in order. As well, stay away from the moldy foods for a bit to get that yeast under control. No amount of weight loss will cure the candida and you might even find you are stalling easily. Good luck!

[COLOR="Red"]Yup, that's what I am doing. Doug Kaufman's diet is for killing fungus. You will probably lose weight with it but it is not essentially a weight loss diet. I am drinking lots of carrot juice(natural anti-fungal), eating low carb with lots of veggies, taking probiotics, mixing barley grass with my carrot juice, and taking psyllium fiber to help flush out my system.

KILL THAT NASTY FUNGUS!!

Be careful with the psyllium Belle it can also strip minerals if taken in excess. How about alternating with flax and adding some mineral broth in the form of sea veggies? I use kombu for my minerals.

"Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. Summarized in a few words, the prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar." -- Dr. Otto H. Warburg

Acid does not cause cancer merely provide an environment for it to not only survive but thrive.

When oxygen enters an acid solution it can combine with H+ ions to form water. Oxygen helps to neutralize the acid, while at the same time the acid prevents oxygen from reaching the tissues that need it. Acidic tissues are devoid of free oxygen. An alkaline solution is just the reverse. Two hydroxyl ions (OH-) can combine to produce one water molecule and one oxygen atom. In other words, an alkaline solution can provide oxygen to the tissues.

It is true that if you became too alkaline you will indeed die the catch is being just above the neutral (7) point on the scale.

This is my first post on the forum, so if I'm not familiar with conventions, please let me know if revealing too much info at one time is a bad thing. It seems that whenever discussions of health come up, certain points are avoided that make more sense, so half the conversation is on point, so many stray off into ill health due to misinformation.

Vegetarians are correct in eating leafy foods, whole grains, nuts. They all contain carbs and omega3 and 6 EFA's, plus good vitamins and minerals.

However, there is usually a confusion that because potatoes, wheat, corn, and rice are also vegetables, that they are as good for you. It is the carb content that indicates to doctors that most people will develop diabetes 2 by retirement age. Eating a vegetable with 30% carb content is not the same as eating a vegetable with 60% or more carbs. It is the Glycemic Load and Inflammation Factor that affects health. Plant carbs, sucrose and fructose, are all forms of sugar that can overload insulin sensitivity.

It is simpler to say to eat many vegetables with low carb to fiber ratios, don't try to eat more than 5% of your diet as protein, and keep below 2000 calories a day. It is the 'harder fats' including omega 6 and red meat fats that harden the cell walls.

Today's children stop processing omega 6 well due to overloads of carbs and lack of D6D. Avoiding sugar, alcohol and tobacco is a must. That means the 'healthy vitamin-enriched' forms of sugar called breakfast cereal need a hard look as a percentage of the daily intake for children and adults. Oats may very well adsorb some fat to lower cholesterol, but the conversion of the carbs to sugar can be worse; not much use in getting rid of cholesterol in the eggs, only to be made by insulin conversion of the carbs.

Eating healthy foods and exercising can help 30% of the population avoid cancer, the other 70% get it due to environment and heredity.

If someone wants all the references to these. I can post them.

That... I'd worry a lot more about my intake of sugar and transfats than I would about low-carb and "acidic vs alkaline".

I love your comment on the "breakfast cereal" Live! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who notices they put the candy and the breakfast cereal on the same aisle!
