So I've decided it's time to make the move - on to OWL! I'm feeling good about how much weight I've lost, that my body looks better, and I think it's time to move forward with the program or I'll never learn how to make Atkins a true way of life, right?

So that means I'll be lurking around this end of the forum more :) When I started induction I stuck mostly to posts there since I didn't want to flood myself with LC info I wasn't ready for, but now that I'm 'graduating' I'll be getting around to threads in this section. I haven't had a chance to read much yet but as I've seen some people have been a bit nervous about this phase... and me too! The guidelines aren't as strict, which in one way actually makes it tougher!

I do intend to follow the ladder, so that means a week of more veggies - I'm looking forward to having a bit of tomato in my salad again! - but in general, any of you experienced LCers have any helpful tips for the transition from induction to Atkins OWL? Anything that may have happened to you that may have shocked you? What should I be prepared for?

Thanks and looking forward to the onward journey...

DANDR in Spanish?

Does anyone know if DANDR is available in Spanish?

My friend is warming up to the idea of low carb, so I want her to get the book, but she is in Spain. A Spanish edition would be great since, they often try to adapt the recipes to foods available in the country etc.

If anyone knows of one, or can figure out a way make a LC wrap that can be fried, I think these would be a wonderful treat.

Along this same line, maybe the same type of wrap could be used to make LC eggrolls?

Thanks! :notwrthy:

I would like to move on simply for the additional food choices, but still try to keep my carbs at induction level. I know that entails eating more of the very low carb veggies and more meat/no carb stuff, but I think I can handle that.

I know there is no rule about this, other than the 2 weeks on Induction, but wanted some feedback from those who have more low carbing experience.

Hi everyone,
After spending 6 years regaining 30 pounds, I give up (carbs that is!)
I was active here in 2003/2004, fell off the wagon and have been ratcheting up in weight. I am ready for real change that will help me get back to my goal weight of 125 by next summer and stop the high carb...

I went on one locarb gathering in January 04 with Cheri and Fatcat to Tumbleweed in Madison, WI where I live. I still remember the fun of that evening and hope to see them again sometime.

Have a good evening everyone. Tomorrow I begin Day 1 of Induction.:p

Well, I have an older friend who has no health problems other than her overweight, or what is caused by her weight (hip, knee and mobility problems). She desperately needs to get off the sugar train, so I'm dragging her kicking and screaming into low carb. I'm gonna make some really good low carb meals, and show her how appealing low carbing can be.

I'm also gonna make some low-carb desserts, but I'm not leaving them at her house or giving her the recipes, because seriously, she'll eat the entire cheesecake in one sitting. I've seen her eat a pint of ice cream in one bowl.

It's gonna be my good deed for the year..and next year..my random act of kindness, so to speak. I do love her, and it pains me to see it get harder and harder for her to get around, or even in and out of a chair. She's dying inside because she can't do her gardening like she used to. I'm searching for stands for all her flower pots, so she can get to them easier, and her friend had a 4 ft. high veggie bed made for her.

She and I used to walk together, but to be honest, she walks (or waddles) so slowly that I wasn't getting any good out of it, I was just doing it to help her. It would take us almost an hour to go 3/4 of a mile, so I stopped, but I'm going to try to work it out so that I can do some of it with her again, because if I don't, she won't walk.

Have you ever dragged anybody into low carb? How did it work out?

So I had given up my addiction to urinating on little plastic sheets (ketostix) a couple weeks ago. Decided it was time to bring one out since yesterday I had some potato, today I went a bit nutty and had some beans with breakfast (dont ask), corn with lunch, and potatos with dinner. In fairly small quantities mind you. Good news is, still in Ketosis. Infact the stick was a fairly dark shade, and I had the potatos last night too. Darker then when I was doing a more pure induction. Lets hope it still translates into scale loss!
