Goal for July = 14 sessions, 8 of which are to be before my mini-break on the 18th This may be quite a challenge as I am just recovering from an infection and fever so I am a bit too weak to restart Callanetics until probably the weekend. (A session for me is either 10/10 or the toning section of Cardio Cal...)

Happy pulsing everyone

I'm in for July!

Hi everyone! I am new to the forums and new-ish to Callanetics. I have 3 months to fit into my wedding dress and I've read this can get you speedy results, so I am going to commit to 14 hours for July.

I'm using the 10 hours DVD, and have tried it a couple times before plus read the book. I find it really relaxing!

Wish me luck, I have to drop 4 inches off my waist by mid-October!!

Thanks for starting this thread, susanw!

Yee haw! Marking my place in this thread for the month of July. I am ready to, "Get My Sexy ON!". I don't want to be a 'Cougar' (such a horrendous moniker, but...). I just want to look like a hot, sexy one, "Rawrrrrrr!"

Let the pulsing begin... or shall I say, "Let the pulsing continue!" I'd love to see this thread reach 400+ posts.

Come on in newbies, as we'd love to have you!

Happy Pulsing everyone!

lycklig. Yes you can get quick results. The more you can relax and learn to extend your spine the faster these results will be. The basics secrets to success are quite simple. Learn your positions, keep your check points in place, learn to counter extend at will, relax even more, and control the pulse to 1/2" or less. We call this meditation in movement for good reason.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the scale. Your weight is the least effective method of determining the success of Callanetics. The way your clothes fit is much more insightful. The inevitable weight gain as you begin to replace fluffy fat with dense muscle can cause even strong souls to panic. You have enough to concern you with all the wedding preparations you likely have to deal with. Let the pressure go and just enjoy the process of deep change Callanetics has to offer. It should help keep you calm and centered as well.

Feel free to ask any questions that may arise. Someone on this wonderful thread will have the answer to meet your needs. We are honored to assist your journey. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding. Schedule that final fitting as close to the day as possible, because your body will change.

Hello, sorry for dropping off - wrecked my ankle and had net issues - did two more callanetics but that is all.
And I kinda think of myself as a Tiger lol.
I looked - yes my entire right side where I did my callanetics butt lifts is much smoother, less rolls and the thigh not as large and the maximus not so max. It is very obvious with no clothes on, my right side is a good size smaller that the left.

Goal in Callanetics for this month will be to do 15 sessions. Time to firm up this bod. One good thing about this steamy humid hot weather - I am not hungry so will be able to get my appetite under control. LP
need that little clapping emoticon with the hands in the back not the front lol.

Hello! I'm so excited that it's the 1st July and I can join in! Whoop whoop!
In for 14 sessions, going for more rest days and more intensity as and when I can manage.
I'm going to a festival at the end of the month, I want to look better in my shorts and vest tops!

Hi, all,

So glad to be a part of this July Challenge. Thank you Susanw for starting it.

I am commited to Callanetics DVD 20 minutes:alternating abs/waist,thighs/buttocks three days a week(minimum) for July.
In addition, will slowly work into the 1 hour Callanetics DVD once a week.

I have done the 20 minute DVD for abs/waist three times this week and I am allready seeing results. I have a long way to go, but I know I can do it!

Hello ladies,

I've just found this wonderful board and allow me to join you.
I have a history with Callanetics, I had a healthy obsession and a wonderful body with it back at the uni (eh, 12 years ago), then life got in the way and we lost track of each other which resulted in me ending up 220 pounds, blob shaped and unhappy. :-o

Anyways, I think I'm OK now, so I started to do Calls again, I'm not as devoted as I was before so I'm doing the AM/PM version, not the 'real deal' and that's my goal in July, to do it every weekday.

I think it's probably not as effective as original, what do you think? Well, I feel some changes (actually I started it on the 29th June, so it's my 4th day), but eh, my tummy is sooo big that it's hard to figure out what happens under 4 layers of fat.

I also wanted to say that the pelvic rotations and scoops and anything that you need to do with your pelvis is killing me. My pelvis is such a wimp!!!

Okay, have a great day you all.

Beautifully put Susan - I just put my scale in the closet - it is such a temptation sitting there and it has such an effect on my mood for the day. Will go by my clothes and how I feel.

Hello All!

I am lowering my goal to 10 sessions this month. I just can't reach 12 it seems and I really want to feel super proud of myself for reaching a goal! lol
Suppose thats silly. I know that 10 hours offers so much change so I am super happy to just get that accomplished for July.

Always love to see your written work outs if you have some. I mostly exercise without a video.

Going to order the book today. I love callanetics.

1 /12 in the BAG for July.

Went shopping in my closet.........got another pair of shorts that fit - not stellar, but I can breathe and sit down !

Hopefully tomorrow will pretty well finish up the basement. I've taken this opportunity to do some decluttering too - both good and bad.

Welcome all the new "faces" Having this special group has kept me going - Thank you all!

Linda

CosmicGirl - hope that infection is under control and you're improving.

lycklig - your Wedding, how exciting! In October?

Ouida - what a goal "just want to look like a hot, sexy one, "Rawrrrrrr!"

lilypond - consider this your big PAT ON THE BACK

MrsGSR - Welcome and enjoy!

slendercate - Super that you're seeing some results already.

tummytrainer - your story brings back memories......you can do this!

catcookie - Welcome and that's quite the avatar!

Kati - A goal change can be a good thing! 10 a month with your "lifestyle" is admirable!
I'm content with my goal of doing Beginning Callanetics and actually DOING it, rather than planning to do 10 in 10.........what ever works

Bronwyn - just checked your number of posts - lots of wisdom from the board below your name!

Javaholic - Take care of yourself

Sun is shining......two days in a row

1/13 July

Just stopping quickly to chart 1/13 for July. It was simply marvelous!!! Keep working on those counter extensions and your alignment of the check points. You all deserve sessions that feel like this one did.

A hearty hello to all the newbies. Our granddaughters are due here any time now. We haven't seen them for 18 months and they're only here for the weekend, so I will see you all on Monday.

Thank you Linda. You are in my thoughts as well.

Happy pulsing all.

When I started last year I was 225 pounds and two decades out of shape. If you've seen my progress photos you know that is no longer the case. Of more significance to me was that at that point last year I was 59 and feeling like I was coming up on 75. Today I'm 60 and move like a 35 year old. You can do this. Just keep seeing it in your mind and before you know it your body will find its way there. Good to have you join. Let the fun begin!

In my humble opinion any Callanetics routine done with mindfulness and consistency, working in your best position and striving for "relaxed and effortless" will bring great results. I know many people who used AM/PM as their regular routine for many years, to great effect.

Welcome to the thread. May you find motivation and information to help you get the most out of your pulsing sessions.

I fell off in during my last trial because of personal issues, but I'm back. I am going to try for the 19 sessions and see how it goes. Callanetics is the only thing I can stand to do when it's so hot.

Welcome back CuCui! Glad to see you. Yeah, 2 days of sun for Linda!

susanw said "In my humble opinion any Callanetics routine done with mindfulness and consistency, working in your best position and striving for "relaxed and effortless" will bring great results. I know many people who used AM/PM as their regular routine for many years, to great effect."

I've been only doing 10/10. I add Open and Close exercises and sometimes the standing and kneeling hips and behind exercises. I'm learning to relax, to extend, to let the hip and head float and to do what I believe are counter pulls and get into my "better" position, if not my best position.

So, I'm doing my routine along with the dvd, really being mindful, striving for the best position.
I am extended as if strings are pulling my toes.
I am counter pulling with the head in position.
My body is drenched in sweat.
I am panting.
I'm breathing hard.
My heart rate is up.
I'm focused.

Then I hear Callan say, "Now onto warm-up number 3!"

I was like ahm...hold up...wait a minute..., I am ONLY on the warm-up? And warm-up number 3 at that... with the main exercises still and yet to come???? , ...and doing all this sweating and panting already?"

This is in no way meant to discourage you, but to encourage you and amplify 'my' interpretation of what susanw said in the above part I quoted. The more you "know" about Callanetics, the more you get out of every aspect of the routines you choose to do, even the warm-ups.

Callan says the more you do Callanetics, the easier it will be to get into position. At first, I thought she meant to just get into the right pose. The more I do it, I am starting to believe that also means getting "deeper" into the pose so that what you are doing is far more effective, with less effort. That going deeper is not something you can only do with your mind. It is something your body must learn as well. That 'learning' seems to occur over time, as in, the more you do Callanetics.

Oh, and my waist pulled in another 1/2 inch!

Happy pulsing everyone!
