I was looking for a pure sugarfree sweetener when I came across this board.
I immediately joined.
I live in the West Midlands in the UK.
I began my weight loss journey on the 1st of July 2013.
My exercise is walking.
I 'walkcommute' 4.7miles to and from work, and after dinner, I repeat the walk again.
When I started it took me 2hrs I weighed 227.4lbs
now it takes me 1hr 15mins and I now weigh 155.6lbs.
My goal is to get to between 125lbs - 130lbs.
I also eat 'lowish' carb from mostly leafy vegetables, I eat a higher proportion of my daily calories from mostly lean protein.
I do eat moderate amounts of fat from things like Salmon and nuts.
I glance at calorie values as a guide but don't really count calories being as I eat mostly leafy greens anyway.
That's my weight loss routine in a nutshell.
Being as I am very 'tied' to scale numbers, I want to get to my goal weight before I start weight training.
I'm 52yrs old and things are no longer as firm as they used to be.
I am so glad I found you guys....I see loads of fresh ideas to learn and incorporate.
I hope I also bring ideas that somebody may find useful.

+3 indoors this morning stormy here again sleet now and going to get 4 inches of snow on top of it. Looks like another scary commute today.

+3 this morning and hope for a walk with the dogs tonight if the roads aren't too icy and it is not too dark when I get home.

Heather I am dodging the bad weather too. Another storm comes in tonight!

Great walking Val and icaniwill. We are all going to look great in the spring when we finally put on shorts for our walks instead of boots, coats, scarves, mittens, and hats!

Oh well tomorrow is a new day.
You are so right about looking fab for spring...it motivates me so much, when I bring out my smaller size clothes and think, 'finally I can realistically hope to get into these at last'

Welcome IcanIwill1...good walking! The weather must be on the cooler side in the UK.
I have been walking 5 miles a day the past 5 weeks while in Arizona. Heading to Seattle today and will be walking a lot...big Seahawk celebration parade with 500,000 expected so it will be difficult to get a taxi. I like walking in downtown Seattle anyway...more like jostling today I suppose...lol. Trying to walk outside as much as possible before heading home to Alaska next week. My eating has not been on track with lots of family stuff...thank God for the walking! Ready to hunker down the eating again.

HWW - enjoy Seattle. Bet you will be glad to finally get back home to Alaska even with the harsher weather. There is no place like home.

My daughter has a job interview today. She has been looking for almost a year so my fingers and toes are crossed that she gets it. Very stressful for her and us. She may have to move if it comes through so mixed feeling there but still would be so happy to see her out of this funk and employed once more!

Shunsweets- I pray it all works out. It can be quite stressful and especially in a recession when things are much slower. I wish her the best of luck.

Slimlizzie -Thanks. It gets easier, hang in there. Before you know it, you will marvel at how much progress you have made.

Healthywealthywise - How is Seattle, I heard the weather is very similar to our UK wealther. It's quite cold here, and the rains have not stopped since Xmas. A large part of the country is underwater as we speak. There has been massive flooding.

Phew-I just got over the effects of a carbfest of Olympic proportions, and I had hell to pay with rebound hunger pangs and cravings.
I am so relieved that things have settled back down and I'm back on track.
I will think twice before I do it again..boy- it drove me crazy, I wanted to inhale every carbby stuff within a 5mile radius.

On the up side I put in 10miles today...If only I can have enough discipline to stay away from the scales, and get a pleasant surprise on the 1st of March. I keep jumping on the darn thing everyday.

I've been fighting a cold but it's almost gone and my motivation is returning. Now, if the piles of snow would disappear along with freezing temps I would be a happy cat. I'm ready for warmer weather and lots of sunshine.

Shunsweets...prayers for daughter and job interview...we never stop being a mom!

slimlizzie...don't beat yourself up. My walking has been good but low-carbing was really hard the past several weeks for me. Just do what you can and don't give up!

+3 yesterday. Took me 4 hours yesterday to take the 30 minute train ride from Seatac to downtown Seattle with 700,000+ wild and crazy Seahawks fans headed for Superbowl champs parade...not planned on my part. Today sunny but cold...have walking shoes and hope to do 10 miles of exploring.

Done my first 5miles for the day.
The forecast says rain...hopefully it will be manageable, so I can do my evening walk.

The reading on the scale was a joy to behold this morning...if only I can keep away though, and weigh just once or twice a month. Oh well..win some/lose some
