Yesterday I was a sloth and didn't do a darn thing. I woke up with the same attitude and forced myself on the treadmill. That little push (or big shove) was just what I needed and now I'm looking forward to doing some more walking or exercise DVD's after work.

I always find the first few steps (or just getting myself out the door!) the hardest too Val. Once I get going all is well. Good for you for pushing through!

+3 this morning.

Can I join? I love to walk. Where I live in Alaska it is hard for me to walk in the winter. I am on vacation in Arizona and walking 2 hours a day. I don't know how many miles that is. I dropped 4 lbs since I started Jan 5...I know that is mainly water but from my experience the walking really "jogs" (no pun intended!) the weight off.

Plus 3 with Leslie. It snowed/iced more last night. My driveway is on quite a bit I an incline. I'm hoping I can get out today. I need some things from the store and 3 of my girls are supposed to have violin lessons. We will see what happens.

Keep walking y'all!

Walked 2 hours again yesterday and getting ready to go today. Will map the path on my phone to figure out how many miles. A bit chillier today but warmer than home (20 degrees).

Hi HWW. Nice you are joining us.

Cold but beautifully sunny today and I'm off work - yippee- so I got in 5 lovely miles outside.

Welcome HWW Two hours of walking? You are really dedicated. I'm impressed! I guess you're getting in the slightly warmer walking before you head home. How long will you be in Arizona?

Shun - five miles is awesome!

Hehe - Does Arkansas usually get a lot of snow? Great job with your 3 miles!

I did 3 1/2 miles today on the TM. Still eating a bit too much.....but the scale remained steady.

Got in one more mile. Had to walk up to the drug store to get my daughter's inhaler refill. Tried to get out of the driveway and ended up sideways in the road.

EmmTee, we don't usually get this much.

Hi...
Thanks for the warm welcome! I figured out I am walking 5 miles a day. It is just so easy here in Arizona..sunny and warm. Lots of snow at home and January is on the dark side so I really need this sunshine. Having a couple breaks to warmer climes in the winter helps me stay in love with Alaska! I am here another 10 days...with family and friends so working hard to eat low-carb. I adore walking outside...treadmills just don't do it for me. I get bored fast! Take care...

I would like to join you. I have not done any exercise in a long time..
I have no goal at the moment, I just want to stay healthy.

I just joined the YMCA (silver sneakers program) and am looking forward to walking, and some swimming
I do have a CD by Leslies.

I just need to move it!

Wow ValR...you are up early! You must be walking on a treadmill. Where in Iowa? My family is from Des Moines, Slater and Ames. Good solid midwestern can-do ethic going on there!
I did not walk yesterday as we had a code red emergency with my dad who was put in Mayo Clinic yesterday. Going to try to walk before leaving for the hospital this morning... it is just getting light here in Arizona.

HWW- What a small world we live in! I'm from the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area which is about two hours from Des Moines. It's too cold and icy during Iowa winters so I use the treadmill to walk. I hope everything turns out ok with your dad.

5 miles.
ValR...I have a cousin in Cedar Falls. My cousins from Des Moines are here now. My wonderful, alert dad in hospice now. Nothing wrong with his mind...body just tiring out.
Lots of Iowans flying in. So glad I walked...good time to cry, pray and relax.
Going to try really hard to maintain my walking through this...a lifesaver.

I'm so sorry about your dad, HWW. My father is in a similar predicament (his heart is functioning at 10%) and I've walked many miles with sunglasses to hide the tears.

HWW - prayers for your Dad.
Val - best wishes for your Dad too.
It is so hard to watch our aging parents struggle. My mom is 92 and in a nursing home with severe dementia. She doesn't know us any more and it breaks my heart every time we visit. She was a wonderful Mom.

+3 for me this morning.
