December walking thread

Everyone is welcome to join us in walking. Count however you like, set a goal or not. Let's just get moving!

OK Starr. I'll try to start this but this is a first for me so here we go.

My goal this month is 100 miles.

4 miles this morning. Dark and cold but the neighbor's Christmas lights are starting to go up and they are beautiful. I have to do that next weekend!

Going to be getting snow and ice tonight. I went To the store to get milk and bread and eggs and they were almost out of everything. If we get snow and ice I won't be able to get out of my driveway. Which is not really a big deal, I homeschool the girls so we won't really be inconvenienced.

Good for you homeschooling Heather! I wish I had done it with my kids but it wasn't done much back then. We are going to have a weird 60 degree day here before going back below freezing on the weekend. My DH is taking the day off with me tomorrow. Hope to do a lot of shopping and holiday decorating. Good thing I walked 1 mile tonight with the dogs as who knows how tomorrow will go!

Well here I am I finally found you again!!!It is really cold here!!! -24 degrees here in Montana and it is suppose to stay frigid for days!! I will be doing Lesslie Sansone,I hope!!!
I have only done a little over 11 miles so far this month ,,,,but I plan to keep on keeping on!! last nite I almost let it go and finally talked myself into just starting the walk and seeing where it went.I ended up with 4 miles so that made me feel mor motivated!!!

Yeah Starr! So glad you are here! You are right getting started is always the hardest part. Many times I have told myself just go 1 block and if it is too awful out you can come back in. I always make it at least one mile. I do Leslie or jog on the rebounder when the weather is totally bad too.

I hate to be a stinker but it was 60 degrees here in NJ today but will be back below freezing by the weekend - just a weird warm front came through. I was hanging Christmas decorations outside and feeling like it was May not December! And I didn't get a walk - shame on me but DH wanted to spend the whole day together and we shopped for hours, had a nice lunch out, and did all the decorating so a day well spent!

I start using my new pedometer tomorrow. I have a goal of 128,000 steps by the end of December 26th. Thats taking into consideration my current sedentary lifestyle and adding a thousand steps more each week starting at 5,000 steps a day for the first week.

Cool Shantony. Glad you are joining us! For me 5,000 steps is about 2 miles but I have a short stride so it may be more like 2.5 for you. Doesn't matter counting steps with a pedometer is a great way to keep track of walking! I should probably start wearing one again too.
Are you walking outside in Ontario? Brrrr! We visit relatives each year in Brockville but always go in the summertime - scared to drive in the winter!

Plus 4 for me today.

Yes Heather Leslie makes me sweat too. Lol. I usually use hand weights for at least part of the time and it is a good workout!

+4 for me today. Sleet and snow tomorrow so I will probably be stuck inside.

+1 after work with the dogs. We were attacked by a loose dog in the neighborhood. Both my older dog and I were bitten. My brave, dear dog tried to protect me getting between me and the attacking dog. I got tangled in the leashes and couldn't move but did kick out at the dog as much as possible. The puppy was unhurt. The dogs owners came out releasing a second dog who joined the fight and eventually and pulled their dog off us but were rude and didn't even say " sorry". I threatened to call the cops but didn't. Very scary and now one more street in the neighborhood where I can't walk with the dogs. My poor old dog is limping badly this morning and I have a reddened, swollen ankle ( didn't break the skin on me or I would have called the cops for sure to rule out rabies). Gosh I hate these irresponsible pet owners!
3 more this morning indoors. At least I am safe indoors!
