C25K September 2013 thread

:welcome:

For everyone who has just started, currently doing or finished the C25K programme.
Together we can do it!!! :)

Day 1 week 3 completed. It was really a struggle to get the last 3 minute run completed. It came as I hit a steady incline and then a short (25-feet) hill and I wasn't sure I could do it. Got a stitch in my side and everything. But I did it!

Next week will be interesting. I'm going to Disney world for a conference, and will have to do days 2 and 3 of week 4 while I'm there. I keep peeking ahead, wondering if I can make it! (I'm assuming that after I make this week, the answer will be yes!)

Haycyn 09-02-2013 07:15 PM

Week 5 day 3 tomorrow!

Im struggling nailing my WOE down.

Haycyn - let me know how bad week 5 day 3 is :) Tonight I will start week 5.

JMacB 09-04-2013 05:56 AM

Week 3 day 2 in the books. Holy smokes I cannot imagine how I will do a five minute jog segment next week. Three minutes has me dying. I'm assuming I will be are to do it but I just keep looking ahead and having my doubts. That second segment of three minutes today, again, had me gasping at the end.

odo 09-04-2013 02:00 PM

I know exactly what you mean JMacB. Every week I wonder how I am going to do the next week and the increase in time running, but the programme seems to work and you seem to be able to do it! It always seems worse thinking about it, slightly better doing it but you feel great once you have done it !!! Keep at it. :)

Tonight the 3x 5 minute runs weren't too bad and I realised that now I am running more than walking in total :) (Although the first time I ran the 5 minutes in week 4 it nearly killed me!:hyst:)
Whilst cooling down I had to smile to myself when I think that only 4 weeks ago I struggled with the first 90 second run and now I am doing 5 minute runs :)

Week 5 day 1 done :jumpjoy::sing:

mayleesa 09-05-2013 06:21 AM

just finished week 2!!! soooo pumped and am enjoying this...I feel better, my body is changing....its empowering. good luck to everyone!!
my week 3 starts Saturday

tinatina 09-05-2013 06:30 AM

I'm on w5d2. I have been doing each day for the whole week. :lol: I gotta build up to the next day. Needless to say I've been doing this for awhile! :hyst:

JMacB 09-06-2013 06:07 AM

Week 3 finished. I can "easily" go for the 90 seconds (amazing) and the first 3 minute run was not difficult today at all (REALLY amazing) and the second 3 minute run was hard but not impossible.

Still freaked out a bit about next week. Not gonna lie. Especially because I will be at a hotel for 2/3s of it. But today I realized that maybe, just maybe,I will end up liking this.

odo 09-10-2013 02:58 AM

Week 5 day 2 done last night. First 8 minute run not too bad, second 8 minute run had me looking at my watch praying for it to count down faster after 6 minutes but stuck to it. Only the 20 minute marathon to do to finish of week 5:p

I'm scared to move to the 20 min one! I did w5d2 again today. :hyst:

JMacB 09-10-2013 04:29 AM

I can't even think about it.

I did week 4 day 1 yesterday and was so nervous about the second five-minute run. But I did it, and I'm not too sore today. Of course tomorrow I have to do it again and I'm at a conference where we have a bad habit of staying up in the bar way too late. But so much fun!

Week 5 day 3::aprayer:

OMG, I started off with the mental attitude that I just wanted to get it out off the way and to give it ago. If I cannot do it, I will have had ago and then I will start week 5 again and build back up to it and try try again. :)

Started running... checked watch...OMG I've only run 5 minutes!!!...I've run 8 minutes before! I can run at least 8 minutes before quitting...carry on for a while...checked watch... oh I almost run 10 minutes!!...that's almost 1/2 way...mmmm...I will keep going a bit further...check watch...only 5 minutes left to go...I will finish this even if I end up crawling the last few minutes because I am not going re-do this again from the start!!...beep beep, beep beep,- watch saying 20 minutes run!!!! Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!! OMG I now need to breath :rofl: Zak looking at me as if I have gone mad and now wanting to go home because he is pooped too, bless.:)

Week 5 day 3 done!!!!!:jumpjoy::jumpjoy:
Tina just give it ago. It is definitely a mental fear because physically we are prepared for it because of the programme!! That's what I keep telling myself.:D

Ha! I did it this morning also!!! I wanted to quit sooooo many times. I follow a diet blog (skinnymeg) and the lady is 12 weeks pregnant and ran 12 miles this weekend. I kept thinking to myself "I'm not even pregnant if skinnymeg can do it so can I"

So glad it done.

Congrats to you odo!

mayleesa 09-13-2013 05:05 AM

Just finished week 3!!!! will start week 4 Sunday!!! So exciting....it really makes me feel like I've accomplished something and I can't wait to start a new level!!

tinatina 09-16-2013 05:16 AM

I did w6d2 today! WOOT WOOT! I may do this one or two more times before moving to d3.

The remaining weeks/days after w6d2 are all solid runs varying in distance!

JMacB 09-16-2013 05:32 PM

Deere Lowered I "did" week 4 day 3 and we will be repeating this Wednesday. I just couldn't finish the last five minute run.

odo 09-18-2013 01:23 PM

Finally managed to do week 6 day 1 last night.
The weather has been terrible, what with rain and gales :sad: and now Thursday looks like it is heavy rain again :sad: and the nights are closing in so I don't want to run in the dark and get soaked through yet!! I will do one or the other but not both, not when I am 'suffering' doing the programme :hyst: maybe once I can run the 5k without my body wanting to crawl at any point, I might become one of 'those' runners that go out in any weather :hyst::D (right!).

Well Done everyone!!!

odo 09-21-2013 02:02 PM

tinatina 09-23-2013 05:07 AM

tomorrow morning is week 7 day 3!

teeingoff17 09-24-2013 04:01 PM

Hey all, jumping in a little late here. I am not doing the program, per se, but am kind of following C25K + modified Hal Higdon training programs trying to work my way up to a 10K. 2.5 weeks into my training, ran my first 5K training run today, finished in 30:11 so pretty happy about that! Congrats to everyone who is doing the C25K program. Keep up the good work and keep at it!

mayleesa 09-28-2013 06:30 AM

started week 6 today!!! finishing week 5 I feel like a rockstar!!!! looking better too....tomorrow I've asked my roommate to drive to the grocery store which just happens to be 3.1 miles away! I can't wait to see how long it takes me to get home lol!!!

tinatina 09-30-2013 04:58 AM

Go Tina!!!:jumpjoy::jumpjoy:

teeingoff17 :welcome: Please join us, I know I want to eventually be doing 10K when I finally finish the 5K and I am sure others here will too. Help and advice would be great. :)

mayleesa Well Done!! :jumpjoy:

Tried week 7 day 1 tonight but hit the wall, only managed 9 minutes of the 25 minutes running. Trying to work out why? I have had a full week off (weather and Zak (the dog) has been struggling with just his walks (his diet - poor boy but seems to have bounced back), mental block, my energy levels ??????????? I am going to re-do week 6 and see how we go from there.

I hope to see everyone in the October thread!!!
