Day 2 of week 1 done this evening .
It felt better, probably because I have got used to the beeps on my timer telling me when I am supposed to run and when to walk. Plus Zak the dog is learning the commands walk and RUN!!

Yesterday I finished Week 1 Day 3 and did 2.27 miles in 30min. Pace for Walk was 14:34 min per mile and Run portion was 10:51 min per mile. Getting better! Registered for a 5K in Sept.

Just completed tonight week 1 day 3
I did tonight 1.5 miles in 20 minutes. I am sure as we get fitter, the faster we will become. I am happy

Dreading week 2, how am I going to manage to run the extra distance ? Oh well, I will have to try.

OMG!!!, I am sure that by the end, both Zak and I could have walked faster than we were 'running'!!! But within 5 minutes of recovery we both could have done it again, go figure

I finished up week 2 the other night. I am getting better. My sons who are 8 and 10 go with me. They alternate nights. The first time I went my 10 year old said I can walk as fast as you "run". I was like good then when you get my age you will not have such a difficult time running. We completed week 2 day 3 a few nights ago. He said, now I have to run to keep up with you. That was great to hear. I am still slow but getting faster. I am only at 1.30 miles. I am not so sure about week 3. Hopefully, I will be completing this tonight!!

My knees are killing me after I run though. This time it has taken less time for them to feel better. Hopefully each time it will take less and less until it disappears.

Week 2 day 2 done this evening

I had to have a couple of extra days off because my knees start to give me problems. It was probably concussion with running on the tarmac roads. Today I got knee supports and they seem to have worked .

Zak seemed to have missed his running as he was a bit too keen tonight!! But he settle into his jog after a while and he really enjoys this. It will be great when we are both fit enough to run 5k with ease.

I am having a hard time getting my running in. My children started school on Monday. I was running really late usually at 12. I was running so late because my dh does not get home until 9 or later. When he gets home, I then have to turn in his work. We have to do it on the computer. I have just been doing it because I am better on the computer than him. So, by the time I get all his work turned in it is 11:30 or 12 or later. So, I will not go by myself that late.
My parents have a treadmill that they NEVER use. I was thinking of asking them to borrow it. I bet they have not touched it in like 10 years. It is a older one but it is a nice one. Atleast I could use that if I can not go outside. Then I could do it any time. I dont like going when it is hot. I am not a morning person so I will not go early in the morning. I start back to work next week and I have to be there at 6:30. I know I will not get up early to go running either. I want to continue doing this.

When I first started running my neck, lower back, and knees hurt. They are not near as bad now. I tried to be more aware of my posture too.

Week 2 finished off tonight!!
It is surprising that when you start a new week, as you are doing the first session you are like 'omg, I cannot do this!', but you push through.
Then as you cool down at the end, you think that's do-able and I survived.
Then when is comes to session 2, I find my brain tries to come up with as many excuses not to do it. You push through and do the session and as you do it, it like 'Well, it doesn't feel too bad, not as bad as I remember it'.
Session 3 seems so much easier than the first time and then my brain doesn't want to start session 1 of the following week because of the increase in distance to run and you just know it will be hard at first!!
But I will stick to the programme because it is definitely working. Even Zak is getting stronger and actually looks forward to his run days!

Tylar - go for the treadmill in my opinion. If you stop now, you will probably find it hard to get going again. When you are struggling for time, treadmill it, and if you get chance go outdoors.

I think anyone could have walked along side me tonight while I was running!!
Must remember in-between runs when catching my breath to do it with my mouth closed and breathe through my nose to prevent the ingestion of unwanted protein (bugs)

2nd session for week 3 done

Zak got weighed today at the vets (45kg). He could do with losing 7-10kg, poor lad. He is due for another weigh-in in 4 weeks, so it will be interesting to see if the c5K gets him losing weight as well. If he can do it, so can I

Week 3 done!!! That's a third of the way through the programme!
I cannot believe that 3 weeks ago I struggled to run the 90 seconds and now I am running for 3 minutes! I don't think my body can believe it either (or Zak) .

Keep at it!! Well done!!. Every week I don't think I am going to make it through and then I dread starting the next week! But once you have done the session and after 5 minutes of cooling down, OMG do you feel proud of yourself And when you look back, wow, keep going! It will be worth it I am sure

I've told everyone my plans, so that I will keep going. Pride is something, huh? My ultimate goal is a half-marathon in February and then to not fall apart when I turn 45 in March. Ahhhhhh midlife crisis.

But now I need to go get my stuff together so I can get up at 5:30 and go do my thing! Woo hoo!

well day 1 complete, 1.92 miles in 30 min mix of walking and running....i'm sad tho that it stops clocking you even if you aren't finished walking home...I'm not good at estimating where I should turn around to go home so it sad my workout was done and I was still a good .2 mile till home....anyone know how to keep it clocking you or should I really get better at a timing thing....THANKS soooo much for starting this thread it's very helpful!

I am using a watch with a timer that counts the minutes that I run so I am afraid I cannot give you any advice with the programme you are using. Someone else might know. But look at the good side, an extra .2 mile cool down is good for you and your muscles. Zak and I do an extra 2 miles cool down .

Week 4 day 1 done tonight. OMG the first 5minute run!!! Even Zak looked at me after 3 minutes running with wondering eyes as to why we had not stop running!!
The second 5 minutes I think we had both just given into it and got into the flow and just kept running until the watch counted down the 5 minutes. It did not feel that bad (not as bad as my head was trying to tell me it was going to be). It is all definitely a mental thing Brain verses determination

the app i'm using has automated trainers that you can select that tell you what to do, 'ok lets run' great job now walk.....timed out according to where you are in the program and links with your music on your phone and will play....pretty cool

when do you run if it's raining...too hot, too cold....I think I can handle too cold cause I can layer up but my next day to run is tomorrow and it's sposed to rain, I guess I run in the rain

If I know it is going to rain really hard the night I am due to run but not the next, I postpone the run. If it is only a drizzle, I will run in it - sooo cooling LOL
I run after 8.30 at night so I don't have too much of a problem with the heat as it is always cooling down by then.

Week 4 day 2 done tonight. For some reason I found tonight the hardest , came so close to quitting during the 5 minute run but talked myself out of quitting by having the thought of having to do it all over again. But I really found it hard tonight, I hope Friday is easier or I might need to think about doing week 4 for a second week. Zak disgustingly was taking it all in his stride and looked like he could have gone on further

Finished week 2 day 2 today. Ran on a new track and I liked it - slight uphill on one side but mostly flat and well maintained. My neighborhood is being re-paved so street running is a bad idea these days.

don't give up!!! glad you made it thru!! today was week 1 day 2 and I ran a route that was very hilly and it's my first day running after a full day of 10hr shift at work.....soooo sleepy but went 2.03 miles....
