Welcome, Mike.

Cheryl, I thought yesterday would be my rest day because I felt lousy iin the morning but after lunch, I pushed myself out the door to the park and that got the engine going. When we came back, I went to a used car lot to look at cars, the aisle are long there and I got the rest of my steps in.

Hello everyone! I would love to join in. I have a fitbit and quite frankly, I'm SO impressed with how many steps ya'll get in during a day! No wonder I'm overweight! How do you get so many steps in? Do you take a long walk, workout in a gym, just move all day long? Thanks!!

Thanks Eliza & Mary!

Thanks for the tip, Cheryl! I was amazed to see chainsawing on the list of activities!! Not too sore today, but enough to know I got some work done!

Hi Tammy - I just try to keep moving as much as I can. I like that the fitbit keeps me up to date on my progress. Some days that's more motivating than others.

Tammy!

So glad to have you here!

Getting more steps is definitely an adjustment. I would try to increase by about 500 more per week till you go up to your goal. Im very overweight and barely in Twoterville. It's a challenge. I wear my Fitbit from the time I wake up till I go to bed. I leave for work at 6:45 a.m. so I get up at 5:15 to make sure I walk for about 30 min - around 2500 steps before work, which is mostly sedentary. I also use a treadmill, walk in the stores and in the park, etc. I even walk up and down my long hallway in the house if I don't feel like getting on the treadmill. Every little bit counts and adds up.

I know you will do great, as long as you believe in yourself. You can do it!

15,000 steps in today.

I recently started to leave for work an extra 30 min early so I can walk the street just shy of 1-1/2 miles 4000 steps. I go out at break 1000 steps each, back out at lunch, another 4000 and the rest is just walking around the office (big building), my street, on weekends we go to the park and have our favorite trails.

Back in 2001 I didn't move at all. It took awhile before I started moving and only in the last couple years did I start walking to keep track of it.

Tammy.

I try to break up the day. Walk around during commercials if I am watching tv. Walk my dog. And I walk at work. I have a treadmill I may have to use when winter gets here.

Mary you were really moving today. I find with my fibro I need one day at least where I don't push it. Otherwise I get too fatigued and I miss multiple days. So far it is working.

Eliza you beat me on VAM.

Mike so you took your chainsaw credit it's funny some of the activities that are listed. I'm glad you're not too sore.

Thanks everyone! I tried really hard to stay busy moving today. I've only walked 3000 steps. It seems like I've walked sO much more than that. At least I got a lot of housework done today. I'll just keep moving. Thanks again for the encouragement!

Yesterday, I logged in 15,000 steps and today 12,500.

Today I was dragging all day, feeling down and very tired. First time in a while. I am off to bed early.

At work on certain days I can get 10,000 before 3pm. I work with kids so they keep me on the move but I make sure I take the "long way" sometimes around the building just to get extra steps. Also, if you are out running errands or at work or whatever, try to park the in the farthest parking spot from the entrance. That will get you lots of steps. I don't usually do this if it is dark out but in the daytime I always park far away from the door and get tons of steps even just walking around the grocery store a few extra times with my cart.

When I get home I try to walk my dog once or twice and sometimes go out walking with my husband or just by myself. Now that it's getting dark so early my steps will decrease until I am able to get to the gym and use the treadmill.

A bit over 8,000 steps for me today and only 11 very active minutes. Long day and meetings all day. Left the house at 6:45 am and returned home at 6:20 pm. Drudgery, allergies, and a long stressful commute.

I feel exhausted. Going to bed now and it's barely after nine. Sweet dreams to all.

I know I did at least 1000 more so I am happy with that!!iI am leaving tomorrow to go to a wedding. We will be gone a few days and hope to stay on LC eating even if I don't get in all the walking.
My doctor called today about my bone density test and says I have osteoporosis! I am hoping to hear what others have taken for it?? There r so many side effect to the meds!!
I will figure itout but it is scary!!

Wow Star. You made it even forgetting to put it on. I have
Osteoporosis too. I take estradiol. I didn't like the other choices. My research showed no increase in cancers after you have been in menopause for 5 years, so I went that direction. It's a hard decision. My mother takes Fosamax and hasn't had any problems. MIL couldn't tolerate it. Sometimes it's trial and error.

Eliza you may need a day off. Just 1 tho. Or a spa day. You keep pushing thru. I don't know how you do it but I'm proud of you.

Mary great going!

Awww, thanks, Cheryl! You're too sweet. I sometimes forget that my almost 300 lb body has a problem with overdoing it. The changing weather and high levels of airborne allergens haven't helped, either.

Wendy, have you looked into natural alternatives for dealing with osteoporosis? I remember my MIL taking MSM and coral calcium for that....I think walking and weight-bearing exercises really help with bone density. Strangely, very overweight people have, on average, stronger bones because of carrying all that weight around. I guess there is one lonely advantage to being fat, lol. I'm with you, meds sound scary.

10,000+ steps and 53 very active minutes for today.

I last had a bone density test about five+ years ago. I was told to take vitamin D. I can get it from sunshine or fortified products or a pill. I remember the pill occasionally. But walking inthe sunshine seems the easiest in this beautiful weather. Last physical a year ago, she saw no reason to go again for a while for another bone density test since I am walking. I don't remember whether I have early signs of osteoporosis or not. But am not in any real pain, only take an ibuprofen when I overdo it physically.

Today I count my blessings and thank God for my new life.

Mary
Age 65
Walked over 120 miles in September - achieved goal of 10,000 steps avg/day
Lost 227 lbs
