Hi Odo and welcome!

I haven't set a distance goal as of yet; my goal right now is to simply try to walk at LEAST 4x a week and MAKE it a part of my life and daily routine. Posting my miles here has been fun as I watch them add up. Maybe in a few months I will start to challenge myself to go farther, but for right now I just want to make it habit. Happy Trails!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome

Last night I recalibrated my pedo watch so I am already to start recording distance to achieve my goal of 84 miles for August. There are 8 days left in July? so I will try to achieve 24 miles in that time.

Shunsweets - I have a big bloodhound LOL!! This is why this form of exercise is brilliant for me (and the dog - one day I will walk far enough to tire him out LOL!)

Stacy O - I know what you mean. I have the walking as a good habit and must do now (I did struggle at first and would make up any excuse not to go (usually blaming the weather LOL!! too wet, too hot, etc,etc) but my bloodhound wants to walk in all weather especially when he knows that at the end of a wet walk he will get towel dried which he loves LOL!! And him sitting in front of me with those big droopy eyes waiting for his walk forced me to get up and do it. I have to look at the positives of the weather now i.e. wet weather means no midges or horse flies biting!

I am trying at the moment to get callentics as a routine in the mornings as I do the walking at night. They say 28 days of repeatedly doing something to from a habit...well that would mean another week and the callentics should be a habit hopefully!

Rest day for me today. Won't make goal this month but considering two familiy members were hospitalized with medical emergencies this month and are OK, I am not complaining about anything. Life is good!

Can I join you walking group? I have to walk on a treadmill right at the moment...I'm in Phoenix and it's monsoon....100 plus temps and high humidity. I'll go back to walking outside when the weather breaks. I have a treadmill just for summer walking. Sometimes I mall walk with a friend in the summer, too.

Normally I try to walk 3.5 miles a day. When I am walking outside, I usually hike in the Phoenix Mountain Preserves, (Which aren't really mountains, just big rocky outcrops.) I have RA so I can't do any serious climbing, but there are good trails up most of the peaks that I can do. In the summer, I usually walk 2 or 3 times a day on the treadmill. Even with the AC on, I get overheated if I walk at a 3.5 mile pace for more that about 20 or 30 minutes at a time.

SHUNSWEETS... you are amazing with 805 miles walked in 2013...glad your family members are doing well...
