DOMS

I just got my substantial rear end back to the gym and I can barely move I'm so sore! I used to be something of a sweatoholic.. I would literally get crabby and out of sorts when I didn't get my self moving on a regular basis. But that all fell apart when I got this new job assignment. Ugh! I work 54 hours a week but with my commute I'm gone from the home for 12+ hrs a day
With a house, a husband, 2 kids, and pets... That really doesn't leave much me time. So I joined a 24 hour gym and started going at 4 am. I gotta do what I gotta do, I guess. And I know full we'll if I don't do it at that time, it's not getting done. *yawn*

So anyway, all that to say... I'm well out of practice and so sore I am walking like an arthritic 90 yr old! Any tips for helping ease DOMS?

I'm almost never sore from working out, but I'm a scardy cat and don't push myself too much. We'll see how I feel Thursday after I see the personal trainer Wednesday night, and I'll report back. :P

Also, stretching afterwards is highly recommended and supposed to help with reducing muscle soreness the next day.

The other thing that is supposed to help is taking a bath in Epsom salts. I use 2 cups of salts, 1 box of baking soda, and water as hot as I can handle for 30 mins. It's good for soreness in general, and a great detox bath. Not sure if it helps my arthritis or not, but it doesn't hurt.

Couldn't do it without all the amazing support and motivation from this forum and all the wonderful people here.

How are you feeling today??

The Epsom salt bath and 600 mg of Motrin helped so much.

I felt good today, she wasn't rough on me, but I definitely worked out harder than I usually do, or differently at least. More core work, so I was happy with that.

I'm glad the bath helped, and the motrin too!

Yoga tonight, which I really enjoy!
