Thanks for starting us off for this month! Even though I haven't seen much results after 20 hours (I posted photos in the March thread), I am still hopeful, especially since I just got 10 in 10 and will now be doing both that workout and Callanetics Evolution together.

I feel like things have maybe firmed/shifted a bit, but I was hoping for more noticeable results by now.

shelley 04-02-2013 06:58 PM

Hi....I've been posting on the March thread today....didn't see the April one. If some of you knowledgeable people will check my posts in the March thread, I would appreciate it.

I don't do facebook so won't be able to go/ask there. Thank you.

Way too much chocolate here! And the kids still have loads!! I'm shooting for 10 hours again this month, 2/10 already done :)

Yokochick 04-03-2013 06:41 AM

Hiya there! I loved doing Callanetics when I lost my first couple of pounds, but then I got all "busy" and forgot about it. I'm planning to get in 10 hours :D

0/10

janetsbreeze 04-03-2013 07:05 AM

Yay for the new thread!
I fell off the wagon in March but plan to get right back on in April.

0/10

Toaster 04-03-2013 07:21 AM

I'm 1/10 this month.

kaco 04-03-2013 11:10 AM

I discovered callanetics last month, even thought I knew about it (and even had the book 10/10) since the 90'. The book has never been touched.

I'm doing the 10/10 DVD and hope to complete 10-13 session in April. I'm impatient to see first results. :)

silverza 04-03-2013 11:20 AM

I'm new to Callanetics... I found the book in my late mother's book hoard and it's been sitting on my bookshelf for the last 6 years gathering dust.

I honestly don't know what made me pick it up but on 24th March I decided to give it a go and struggled through the first workout as it's hard to work out what to do by the pictures. So I got my hands on the 10 for 10 video...
I did 3 workouts in March (didn't realise I should give a day between workouts to let the muscles rest).

As of April I've done 2 (just finished one now). I'm aiming for 15 this month.

I have a lot of weight to lose but for now just trying to drop a dress size to fit into some board shorts for a holiday in July. So I have 3 months to lose 17 centimetres from my hips.

I'll take some before pics on the weekend (well... post 5 classes) and see what happens.

2/15 April (10 for 10)
5 hours in total

Oh... and I read the before & after thread - WOW!!! The results look amazing! You all inspire me!

shelley 04-03-2013 12:06 PM

Question....does anyone know the difference between an official dvd and an amazon exclusive dvd....prices are very different....I'm trying to decide which dvd's to order, and what books. Any thoughts? I'm 65, bad knees and lift weights. Thanks for your thoughts.

Knittering 04-03-2013 12:07 PM

Welcome Yokochick and Silverza! :) And I'm glad to hear you're back on board, Janet.

Neither my weight loss nor inches lost are especially impressive, but SOMETHING must be happening because now (after 15 hours of Callanetics) I'm already back in my pre-pregnancy jeans. I'm still 12 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight, but my looser jeans are falling right off me!

Yay for Callanetics!

kaco 04-03-2013 12:44 PM

May I ask? Is it worth buying Secrets of Callanetics? I have 10/10, all three Short Callanetics and Evolution, I've spent hours reading the Callanetics threads here on Lowcarbfriends.

Will I find some new info or tips on that DVD?

Minxz 04-03-2013 01:45 PM

I am going to make a goal for 8 hours of callanetics this month. 2 times a week is the plan.

I just ordered that yesterday! I'll let you know next week if it was worth it or not. :)

Great, thanks! :)

lilybug02 04-04-2013 01:13 PM

May I join? I've done 3 hours this month so far. I'm just enjoying it so much. I haven't been counting how many times I've done it since starting but it's at least 10 times. After a week my waist went down a inch. It's really giving me great results. Have any of you seen any slow down in weight loss after starting callanetics? I'm excited to get to know everyone.

inmemoryofmolly 04-04-2013 11:02 PM

1/10 a day ago. :) I have not noticed any fat loss yet but it has corrected my posture significantly. Thank you Callanetics!

The official DVDs were released with the consent and involvement of Callan herself. The other ones weren't. Always buy official!

Welcome Lilybug! That's such a cute name.

I also lost an inch off my waist in remarkably little time. I didn't gain any weight after starting Callanetics, but I didn't drop any for two or three weeks. I was expecting that, so it didn't throw me. I just kept reminding myself that I was building muscle, which will help me lose weight as I go. :)

Thanks my oldest is named lily. I'm ok with a slow down in weight loss because I'm seeing such a great result with the callanetics. Thanks for the welcome.

4 hours completed for April.

Yokochick 04-05-2013 10:17 AM

1/10 completed :)

Thank you so much for responding to my question!!

I did end up ordering the "official" ones -- "Beginning" and the original DVD that is shown in a photo on the first post on this and the March thread. I also ordered one book that is supposed to help with how you do the exercises into more detail.

I assume I start with the "Beginning" and when I "master it", I move on to the one with the profile body as shown in the photo.

So my next question is.....what does it mean when you all write 1/10 3/10, etc.? I haven't done this program yet, hope to get things in the mail soon, but would love to be part of a support group. Hopefully a newbie is welcome to join in. :)

Knittering 04-05-2013 05:58 PM

We'd love to have you, Shelley. :)

That's how many hours we've done and how many hours we hope to do for the month. 1/10 means I plan to do ten hours and have so far done one. :)

lilybug02 04-06-2013 09:50 AM

I just finished my fifth hour for the month. I'm hoing to do it everyday and have Sundays off for rest days.

Thanks Michelle! I can't wait to get the books and DVD's. I do weights 3 days a week at the gym with a friend my age (65) and we are doing great 3 days a week, constantly alternating upper and lower body. No machines....free weights, pulleys, assisted pull ups (that one is a machine) and the TRX which we both love. We also are working on balance and are not doing well with that "yet". Now we want to add in 3 days a week of either PACE/ HIIT or Callanetics. We have been away from exercising for about 2 years and were both very fit back then...both are up weightwise and pants-size wise.

Thanks for the welcome, and the info. So I'm 0/10 right now! HOpefully that will change next week! :jumpjoy:

Thanks. I feel kind of like a addict. I'm addicted to Callanetics.

Is it safe to do it everyday? Does ones body not need a recovery day after each workout?

Knittering 04-07-2013 08:19 AM

Callan says in her book that you should give the muscles a day to recover between sessions. I do the stretches almost every day but the exercises only every other day (at most.)

Okay, so I just watched the "Secrets of Callanetics" DVD. Someone had asked if it was worth it and I definitely think it was. She goes into more detail about the positions, gives alternate ways to do the exercises if you can't do them yet, and makes suggestions for what to do to amp up the work as you get more comfortable. I'm probably going to use it for reference quite a bit.

The only thing I don't like is the annoying cheesy music that plays in the background through the whole thing. It's too loud & distracting.

Rebooting

Been more of a lurker here for a long time..keep saying Im going to start and don't..Well I restarted the belly fat cure fast track Thursday and sat sun did 10 in 10
I am down 5 pounds..did have some popcorn not on plan the other night.
so I also have done 2 10/10 sessions ..my tummy is sore and my triceps and I din't even complete all the reps...I can see a difference already ..I went from 220 to 215 and am probably a 18/20 in clothes...ackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk..
Hoping for the best...I did the callanetics after working 11 hour shifts and I feel good after I do them..I have a knee I hurt in nov on a patient and think I might have bursitis so I didn't do the exercises kneeling..Im hoping the stretching strengths and in a month I will add them. The stretching and pulsing didn't seem to aggravate my knee and it feels good today..I like to get 10-15 more sessions in this month.Right now I love the tall feeling but its all I can do to motivate myself to do these....seeing change will certainly motivate though lol :hyst:
