Yay, the March thread!
I did my hour yesterday so today is an off day, which is a good thing because I'm sore! But every session does seem to get a little easier. I couldn't even get my leg off the floor for the hips exercises for my first hour, and now I can lift them and do the exercise (a little.) Quote:

I too will start tomorrow. I'm taking a very long break from weight lifting and only doing Yoga, Pilates and Callanetics. This morning I did do a 30 minute Quickie Routine of Eoin Finn and AM Callanetics. Tomorrow I'll do the hour session. See you then!

Hello everyone.
Wuzzy lady, I like your rotation idea. I plan to do something similar. As for me, I've done Callanetics in the past, along with other "barre" workouts. I'd like to switch back to Callanetics because I workout in the mornings, and Callanetics is gentle, but effective. I hope some of you who have been doing Callanetics for a while would be willing to answer a few questions. 1) I understand Callanetics Evolution to be the modern update, of safer, more effective moves. Those of you who do the older workouts, do you do the exercises as demonstrated, or do you substitute the new, recommended positions while following the older videos? 2) Those of you that do CE and older Callanetics workouts, do you find CE to be as effective as other Callanetics (except for Super, of course). Right now, I have CE, AM/PM and Super. I'm curious about answers to my questions because I am using CE right now as it does not hurt my back. I injured my back about a year ago. As of right now, doing older Callanetics hurts my back and neck. So I don't know if I should substitute the new exercises when I want to do an older video for variety, or if I should wait, and try to work back up strength to see if I can do the older videos pain free. I definitely appreciate any feedback. FWIW, I did the full CE yesterday. To my surprise, I am sore today. I'm very well conditioned to barre workouts, and honestly, I didn't feel like I was working that hard when I did the actual workout. Good go know that I don't have to kill myself to get in a good workout. ![]() So right now, I'm 1/10. Hi Beth, thanks for recommending this site! ![]() |

Welcome Tonya and Beth!
I did Evolutions for the first time this morning and didn't much like it. It didn't feel like the "real" Calanetics with the updated positions and such. Some of the positions I still couldn't do, probably because they were working slightly different muscles than 10/10. Also, I hated all the nagging about "engaging your pelvic floor." Anyhow, I think I'm going to go back to and stay with 10/10 for the rest of the month. It's a challenge for someone as inflexible as me, but in three sessions I've made good progress.

Been away from this site for a bit... but I'm back. Lost the link then got distracted by other things in my life. Plus, I gave my regular Callanetics DVD away to someone who has back problems.
Anywhoo... I'm excited to commit to March's challenge. I'm going to do SuperCallanetics once a week. p.s. I would like to replace my regular Callanetics DVD, but can't find a new or used one on Amazon. Anyone have an idea where I can a replacement DVD? Last edited by sunnyone; 03-03-2013 at 08:33 AM.. |

Looked for the new thread a few days again and couldn't find one, but now I see it's quite busy!
I am already 2/10 for March 7/10 based on the last few weeks (I started mid-February). My results are a bit difficult to determine because my weight is about 6 lbs. higher than normal, but, despite this, my pants are no longer feeling as tight, and today I thought I actually noticed some new definition in my thutt area--woo-hoo! I think a medication I am on is contributing to my increased weight and I only have to be on that medication one more week, so it will be interesting if I see more results once I'm off the medication. Oh, I am only using Callanetics Evolution. Hi T! |

Finished my 1st hour of 10/10 today, Woo Hoo! Had a hard time making myself get started, then was a little scared during the warm up.
By the time it was over, I couldn't believe an hour had already passed. I surely need to work on my form, but all in all, it was awesome! Tonya |

1/10 done. The exercises were a bit difficult to do for me, especially the pelvic exercises and stomach exercises. My body was shaking with the leg and stomach ones (is this normal?). But I loved the feeling I got after. I'm thinking of doing this everyday. Is that advisable? Also, Callan was right that this workout does work on muscles one never knew existed. So awesome!

I really like 10/10 too, InMemory. I still can't quite do the pelvic exercises either -- I have a lot of stiffness in that area (car accident years ago) and it's going to take a long time to work up to those. For now, I'm satisfied just being able to get into the starting form.
I did 10/10 again today because I don't think Evolutions did much for me yesterday. Something about that video doesn't quite click for me, and I much prefer having Callan lead the exercises. I find her voice very soothing. |

I'm 2/10 today. I also prefer the 10/10 version, I just can't get into evolution at all!

Hi, all! I'm only a couple months familiar with Callanetics; how can I be 35 years old and only have heard of it in 2013? Anyway, I've jumped into the 10/10 and have four hours complete. I've been reading the old threads here for a bit and am excited to have some Callanetics comrades out there. Yay!

So happy you can join us, Yaz!
Springhouse, I didn't hear about them until I was 38 -- and then I wasn't brave enough to actually try them until last month. I'm only five hours in (and not even five full hours, probably closer to three with the exercises I've had to skip) and I've already dropped an inch off my waist! |

Michelle, that's great news! Very inspiring.
Well, since no one has answered my questions, I'm reposting them. I've done a few more chapters of CE and now up to 2 hours for March. |

I'm sorry, I do the 10 in 10 and am not familiar with CE.

I do the exercises as demonstrated in the original 10/10, I don't substitute for the CE versions. I can't really comment on how effective CE is compared to 10/10 as i've only done CE once or twice, sorry!

Sorry your questions weren't answered -- it seems like a lot of the people with lots of knowledge and experience with Callanetics have moved on. I've tried both and vastly prefer the older version. I didn't think Evolutions was really doing anything for me. I can feel the stretches in 10/10 just where Callan says I should, and I take that as a good sign. I thought maybe I'd incorporate some of the re-designed positions from Evolutions into my 10/10 but didn't wind up liking any of them well enough to do so. |
