4/7 done! I started out pretty halfhearted with the workout. I really hate the side stretch at the beginning(my hand goes numb and it feels awkward) but once I get to the hip and behind exercise I'm all in! I freaking LOVE that one! It takes me a while to get into form and feel it working but I love feeling the burn from that one. I need to really work at the stomach exercise because I only feel like it's doing anything when I do the last set with both feet up. From what I've read on this forum I'm sure I need to work at my form.

Here's a question for you guys.. I've done the Waist Whittler and like that better than the side stretch that's at the start of 10 in 10, so could I do that in it's place? Thanks!

My hand goes numb too, and my arm starts to hurt. I'm getting there though!

M-F (AM) - 20 Minute Turbo Jam
M-F (Lunch) - 40 Minute Treadmill (19 min mile - I'm not really killing myself)

Sometimes I fill in for softball leagues on Wednesday and Friday's but they are just here in there. I also try and hike at least 1 day on the weekend.

To most really fit people I'm sure this doesn't seem like a lot but it feels like a lot to me. I'm sure I will get better as time goes by but right now I'm still very out of shape.

Has anyone tried doing Callanetics with shoes (sneakers) on? I know that this is NOT the original intent. However, I have recently been diagnosed with an asymmetry and am wearing an orthodic insert in one of my shoes that I am supposed to wear as often as possible. Also, in some of the other barre-type workouts, the instructors wear shoes (e.g., Squeeze, TA), so it seemed like it might be okay.

No idea what the best is, but I run twice a week. It was 4 times a week when I first started ad I noticed a difference so quickly. I was training for a 10k so went out a lot more.

Now I run twice, 3-4 miles and do callanetics 3 times a week and try and do some weights during the week too. Seems to be working for me.

6/10 was done the other night but forgot to log it!

Hi everyone!

I want to start doing Callanetics but I'm having some problems.

First, I don't know what she means by "tip your pelvis up to the front." Can someone translate that to couch-potato-speak for me?

Also, I found that I simply couldn't do some of the exercises. I'm terribly inflexible -- in fact, my junior high PE teacher told me I was least-flexible student he'd ever had. That situation hasn't improved as I close in on 40, either! LOL. Do you think I should hold off on Callanetics and work on developing flexibility instead? If so, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Michelle, which video are you using? I have recently acquired Callanetics Evolution, and I have found those exercises MUCH easier to execute than the original Callanetics workout.

I've managed to get in 4.5 hours over the past 2 weeks, and I think that I am already seeing results! My weight has been up a bit and my pants were all feeling tight; although my weight hasn't yet gone down, my pants are feeling looser again!

Michelle, I am super inflexible as well. I can't do any of the leg stretches as shown - my legs are bent in each one and when sitting and stretching with legs in front, I can't even begin to lean over.
I would do as much as you can. I'm seeing some improvement in my flexibility already.

Ok you guys got me! I've been dieting (low carb) but haven't exercised in years. I ordered the DVD and will be part of your March challenge. Woohoo! So excited, and nervous.

Thanks Toaster and Janet!
I'm using the 10/10 but I just ordered Evolutions.

Janet, did you gain weight when you started? The books says you can gain 6-8 pounds after starting Callanetics which... ugh. I know that losing inches is better than losing pounds, but that's a lot of pounds.

I'm happy to have another newbie around, Kath!

I didn't gain, but my losses stalled for 3 weeks. So, sort of the same thing?

Thanks Janet.

I could handle a stall. A gain of 6-8 pounds would really bother me at this stage.

8/10 done.

I do 10/10 and for some reason I'm suddenly finding the behind and hip exercises hard, the hip I'm leaning into really hurts and I have to keep shifting position. I have the Super DVD somewhere but can't find it, on that I think they do those exercises standing up is that correct? I tried it tonight and it felt so much better, and I could feel my muscles engaging, just checking that it's ok to do it standing?

Wow, you're doing great, Mandie!
Those hip exercises are so hard. I couldn't even lift my leg off the floor the first time I went through the DVD.

I have been reading the great reviews and want to give it a go. I have lost 20 pounds doing just L/C and with only 5-10 pounds to go I need to firm up and learn to maintain. I have been training to run so I am doing the c25k program and am midway through so I will add the 10 in 10 on off days. It may really help me strerch my body to so both work outs may benefit each other.I have no co-ordination and get very frustrated doing fast pace dvd's so from the looks of this I should be able to keep up. So I have 2 discs, 10 in 10 and super callanetics, do I alternate each month or is the super callanetics for much later on? I will join in for the March challenge.
