I got week 7 day 3 in the bag today! It seemed to go very well. I even upped my speed to 5.5 for the last 5 minutes. My body composition is changing so much also, havent lost any more weight but I went from a 10 pant size to a 7/8 in what seems like overnight! I am a hippy girl so I carry extra weight in my hips and thighs so a 7/8 is maybe a size I would have worn in grade 8 (12 yrs) , I am now 34 so that is so big for me.

I usually do Jilliam Michael's 30 Day Shred on my off days, but current have a shoulder injury. I am only running every other day right now.

For the first couple of months, I didn't do anything on my off days either. I think each person has to add as they see fit. Side NOTE: I ran on a trail yesterday for the first time! Much harder than running on the FLAT road in front of my house

OMG I wish my road were flat! Well, I guess I don't because mine is so much uphill! The way the road goes in a weird circle it is more uphill than down, For real! But after walking that a few times it made my 5K route not seem so hard when I waked it! ITA 'free' walking outside is WAY different than walking on a treadmill or even a track (indoor or outdoor track)

My 5K is mother's day weekend! I am excited and scared and totally freaked that I will come in dead last. I know there are supposed to be a lot of walkers, but still...Even a 'power' walk is not very fast for me yet!

Good for you CurveControl!!!!:jumpjo y:

I'm contemplating signing up for one on the Fourth of July. I work weekends so there aren't many I can do....but man it's going to be HOT outside.

I am going to do the Tunnel to Towers in NY this year. I took the whole weekend off and have my army and emt friends who are going to join me. I can't wait.

Go for it!! I wish I had the nerve, it took me weeks to get the courage to just run outside. One day I would love to run a race but not brave enough yet.

I mostly walked mine. I will walk my next one on June 8th too. Lots of them are open to walk/run people! It was really a great experience!

Nice progress everyone. Very inspiring reading about all of your progress since Jan. I repeated week 3 and 8 about a million times it seemed before it suddenly just clicked. If you are looking for motivation one sure way to keep you on track is to register for a race that is near your c25k graduation.

If you are worried about people judging you, don't. The only ones that will judge you are driving by in the cars after a quick trip to McD's drive through. Most runners would admit they are more inspired by those that are starting out and facing this new challenge than those that have already arrived. That certainly goes for me, which is why I just spend 10 minutes reading all of the post on this thread.

I will put it like this, the runner that finishes a 1/2 Marathon in 1:30 is likely putting in the same effort as the person that finishes in 2:30. So what's the difference? The person that logs the 2:30 time did the same amount of work for 1 hour longer. Don't sell yourselves short, there is a whole lot of awesome going on in this thread and thanks for the boost.

By the way, if you have not moved your runs outside yet. Do it! Yes it will be a bit tougher at first but once you adjust in a couple of weeks you will understand.

great job everyone! I love reading these "running success stories"!!! very inspiring

I started the Jeff Galloway 5K training...I'm on week 2, completed day 2 yesterday (it's an iphone app...i'm not promoting just sharing what I use to do the program)

I run on my treadmill because like canadiangirl I too am scared to run outside lol I like my treadmill too because I can control the pace easily and my iphone doesn't skip or jump ahead if I bump it or something (I put it in an armband and attach it to the handle of my treadmill then insert earbuds and away I go!)

My goal is to someday be able to run 5k straight. I used to be able to do that (like 20 yrs ago!!) but never since after having kids etc. Hopefully this program will help me do that!!!

My next 5K walk/run is June 8th, and my long goal is to actually run/jog the one that I am doing in September.

Completed my first 5K Race 5/25! I did have to stop and walk a time or two, but that is mostly because of poor judgement the night before around the campfire!

I have a friend who is now doing the C25K and I have committed to running a 5K with her in August. Can you say HOT!!

I am also doing a glow run July 5th. Fun!!

Just started...

I just started C25K two days ago. Week 1, Day 2 awaits me today. I'm using an indoor track at the gym as it gets hot outside in CO this time of year. Hopefully by fall I will be ready to do 8K or 10K training and take it outside.

I'm starting from rather out of shape and have a little soreness in my leg muscles today from the previous workout.

Completed Week 1, Day 2

I just finished Week 1, Day 2. I had a little lingering muscle soreness from Day 1, but completed the workout. The first few running phases seemed slightly easier, but the last couple seemed slightly harder.

Next up on Wednesday: Week 1, Day 3. Same 60-sec run / 90-sec walk intervals. Then next week it gets a little harder: 90-sec run / 60-sec walk.

Everyone is doing awesome! I am done the program but am working on distance outside. I might just start the program again but completely outside running. I would likely skip days as I see fit but I absolutely love running outside now. Also, on days i have to run on the treadmill, i followed advice from others and set my incline to 1.5 and it makes it more like outdoor running. Never thought I would feel like this but its like christmas morning on run days....such a great feeling! I am thrilled to have found a waist belt that is made for large phones. I have a samsung note 2 and an arm band would just be ridiculous and anoying (not to mention cause a horrible tan line!). It was $27.99 and doesnt bounce or isnt bulky at all. I love it...ran 5.5 kms yesterday just to try it out. Also fits an iphone 4/4s with the otter box case on.

Anyways congrats to all the grads and welcome to all the new runners, you will be amazed at the difference running will do to your mind, body, and soul.

Week 1, day 3

Did week 1, day 3 yesterday. Less muscle soreness and legs were a little less Jello-like at the end of the workout. Haven't yet noticed an improvement in cardio fitness/endurance.

On Saturday, I begin week 2.

Good choice to move your runs outside, I can only do about 3 miles on a dreadmill before I go crazy. However, the treadmill is great for intervals and speedwork, so it has a place.

Tell me more about this phone waist belt. I have been using a Spibelt for the last 4 years and I love it but my Samsung S3 barely fits and puts pressure on the headphone cord. Would like to switch to something a little larger as long as it does not bounce.
