2 four mile walks again today. Grabbed the dog for the last mile. Very cold but a beautiful winter day.

Can I join in-I'm a new walker I just bought a pedometer yesterday and would like to start walking several times a week.

I'd love to start with walking 5 miles a week, and then work my way up from there. I'm fortunate to live right by a huge trail system, so I have lots of nice places to walk.

A bit of bad timing though, because we're supposed to get a major snow event starting tomorrow night and going through most of next week, so I might not be able to do a whole lot next week. I'm going walk today though

Welcome Mom23kids. I love trail walking too. When it is really snowy or icy here I walk around my house or on my little rebounder - not nearly as good as outdoors but at least something. I turn up the music and just count every 30 minutes as a mile. It's probably more than that step wise but I just keep the counting simple.

ok - I finally put in my Leslie Sansone walking DVD in... and did it....

one mile walking
Water aerobics - 1 hr & 15 min....

going to Michigan for my granddaughter Abby's 1st b'day and my two grandsons b'days Kyle and Derek... so want to look a tad better... feel better... (I am a diabetic) and to fit better in those darn airplane seats...

so will do my WA and my walking DVD day until I leave on Feb 19th for Michigan..... have lost 12 pounds since Jan 1st.. so I am on a roll........

and this thread will keep me at it....... thanks diana

Lynn and Maggie - thanks for the welcome... Maggie.... just hope that when I get to Michigan on Feb 19th that there are noooooo snow storms I know I am talking about Michigan ... but after living here in SC for the past 14 years I do not like snow and cold weather...

going to do my WA at 11am today...may do my walking before.... do not know for sure...... just know that I am really excited about getting in the habit of walking every day...... I know that this thread will help me.....

Hi Pawley! Are you moving to MI? We lived there in the upper peninsula for a few years early on in our marriage. I loved it but the weather was a real challenge at times. We were college students and didn't mind hiking in the snow at that time but the UP gets much more snow than lower MI so you may be all right.

shunsweets - no just going to Michigan to visit with my sons, dil's and my grandbabies....... I love being here in SC... miss my kids up there... but do not miss all the cold and snow.... I know I am blessed with my sweet three grandbabies.... and have two great sons and DIL's.... God smiled down on me......

did 1hr & 30min of my water aerobics... and will now do one mile walk..... whew... I know I will be tired when I get done....but it will be a good tired feeling....

hope everyone has a great Sunday.....

I haven't been as strict with myself regarding my walking. I've been feeling very fatigued. I fall asleep every time I sit down to watch tv (which isn't often) Trying to do better Plus 4 miles.

January: 33 mi

i hit my goal for January, 30 miles, on Friday. i tied the mileage i did in October before the setback in my rehab from hip surgery, so i am very happy.

i adjusted my January goal to 45 miles. that's conservative given where i am now, but i have to be careful not to push too far, too fast. if i blow that out of the water, i'll up it again.

Diana & Sara, yes sir it is cold today and for the rest of the week with some possible snow. Oh well, orginally from California but hubby dragged me here when we got married, or should I say I voluntarily followed him because of .

Anyhow, TOM is in the house but I managed a mile walk on my treadmill.

For those of you who are in cold weather states, stay warm.

Shunsweets love the UP and visit quite often.

Yes Maggie I loved our years in the UP too. Very beautiful.

Did 1 mile with the dog last night and my usual 3 before work this morning. Supposed to be snow flurries this afternoon. I love snow so long as I don't have to drive in it and look forward to sitting by the window and watching the snow flurries after work. I'm easily entertained lol.

our weather gauge is showing -3 for actual temp right now, and news said windchill is around -14, so not planning on walking outside today I might do a few minutes of going up and down my basement stairs though, just to get something in!

Later this week we're supposed to warm back up into the 20s, to hopefully I can get outside yet this week to walk!

It's a cold one here in MI that is for sure. I hate the thought that I have to go grocery shopping but it's my fault, I should have done it sooner. Stairs indoors is great exercise. Stay warm!
