Wow everyone is doing great! Welcome Stressfree. I love to walk too. Really does relieve stress and keep me healthy. I'm not trying to lose either but want to maintain and not put on weight here in my later years as most in my family do. Great job on quitting smoking!! Definitely worth the 10 pounds!

+5 for me today.

Day off so got in two 4 mile walks. One in the morning and one late afternoon. Grabbed the dog for the last two miles - that's the maximum she can do and she did well today.

Stress free I see you are in Vancover. My DH grew up in Montreal ( back when there was Abigail English community, he doesn't know any French). We go to Ontario frequently to visit. I love Canada.

Monday = 1.5miles
Tuesday = 2 miles
Wednesday = 2.5 miles

Haven't done today's yet. My only question is that I'm walking really really slowly....like it took me 1 hour walk the 2.5 miles. Does that even count as exercise?

I'm going to try sticking with walking and callenetics for 3 weeks straight and then add the dieting back in.

Slow, slow is all I can do right now because of a hip and knee injury. I count it as moving and not sitting on my rear.

I agree with Rose even slow walking is good. At least you are moving, keeping your joints supple, and your fitness level will gradually increase. Good for you!

Welcome Stressfree, and congratulations making your goal, Garden, and I agree with the general sentiment, Crazynanc, that slow walking most definitely still counts! Wow, this thread has been busy in the few days that I haven't checked in. Nice work everyone!

I got 3.25 on Wednesday, 1.25 on Thursday, and 5.5 today.

Oh Heather 5 miles and weights too! Great work!

Wish I could get to the park Lynn. It's pouring rain here so I did 2 more miles of in house walking - not my favorite but it is all good.

Hi to all our walkers. Keep it going we are already almost half way through the month!

hello, everyone, i'm so excited to find a thread of walkers, i have always loved to walk.

Nanc, i had surgery last August to remove a bone spur on my left femur. my first walk after surgery was barely an eighth of a mile, and it took me 32 minutes. (and the week before i had logged 50 miles.) you better believe that little walk counted! every step helps lube your joints and keeps you going.

i can do two miles now at 3 mph, not every time i walk, but my strength and endurance are still increasing. slowly.

2.5 miles is great when you're feeling it. keep it up!

i just had my last physical therapy session yesterday, and now i'm on my own for rehabbing my hip. i'd like to start tracking my strength training, so i can stay on track.

i do like online tools. i use RunKeeper for my walking, and i love it. (is it OK to say that? it is free, or at least there is a free version, and there is no advertising.) so i would prefer a tool, instead of pen and paper or a spreadsheet. i get motivated by looking at the reports the tools make, and trying to increase my achievements every month.

can anyone recommend a tool, or their own system?

thanks!

Welcome Tao! Nice to have you here. I'm going to look at that tool for tracking but mostly I just post here. Keeps me on track.

Rest day for me today. Decided on an extra cup of coffee with DH instead of a walk before work this morning. Weekends are hard sometimes.

2.8 miles this morning...4.5km. The conversion to kilometers always makes me feel more virtuous

Huge blizzard for two days with no power, limited walking anywhere! I should be tracking my mileage/kilometers but I haven't. However, leg muscles are showing results.

well, that's a novel concept! maybe i'll track my workout sessions in my sig like you do your miles.

i adore RunKeeper. i use the mobile app, and it measures my time and distance using GPS on my smartphone. i don't have to do a thing, except punch a button.
