I finished a cycle of P90X on Christmas Eve. I know exactly that feeling you're talking about...the entire first week was BRUTAL for me! But it got easier and I was feeling so much stronger in just a few weeks!
Personally, I had a hard time with LC on P90X. I did okay for the first few weeks, then I found that I was just almost collapsing halfway through the workouts. My weight loss stalled, too. So I started following the fat shredder portion of the nutrition guide, and noticed that my energy increased and the weight started coming off again. I don't think it was just carbs that did it, though...I don't think I was eating enough calories to give my body the fuel it needed for the intense workouts. Now, I just do a P90X video here and there on my off days from the gym. I think I might do another cycle this winter. Good luck to you! Just know that it does get easier, and the results are SO worth it!! |

Wow, I can't believe someone started this thread today...I just did a search last night for this exact topic. I just ordered P90...not P90x. I was told to start here...at P90 as P90x is much harder. I have been sedentary for about two years....despite losing 27 lbs on lowcarb. I have let some weight creep back on and lately my eating has been out of control. My husband is going to start the program with me....Im excited and nervous. I have never been able to do a at home workout program. I've preferred a gym...but since that clearly hasn't been working for me...here I go!
Please share anything you can...

well day 2 last night- wow i thought i was going to die. it was rough- i was physically and mentally exhausted- if that makes sense. this am i woke up and am VERY sore. The lower carb is tough with the workouts- i will up my carbs a bit- maybe add in with some protein before ( way before the workout)
but really hoping to get stronger and drop weight. |

You will get there. I have been doing workouts with P90X, P90X2, P90X+, Insanity, Asylum, TurboFire, TapouT XT and the like for well over three years now - 6 days a week. Push yourself to the level you are able each day and over a short period of time you will see major improvements. It is not easy, but definitely worth it.

How is there hardly anyone doing this? I'm sure the LC forum isn't the best place to find experiences... I've been successful doing LC, but I do realize that if I am realistic, I know I won't be happy doing it for my entire life. I do want to lose some more weight but most of all feel healthy.
I used to dance on a professional level until I had to give it up to go to college. Since then I've been steadily gaining wait and even though my body is still muscular, my stamina is going DOWNhill fast. As well as my skin loosening up with losing weight now. I reaaaally want to start exercising again. We have a home trainer and I try to cycle every now and then but I also want to do some other exercises, abs, back and arms mostly. I'm waiting for P90 and P90X to come in and I want to start, but I am pretty sure it can't be done in combination with LC? Any tips?

I started P90X April 22 - It is hard.
i am doing the lean version and I'm not going to lie, if I had to follow LC doing this it would be brutal - NOW if you are in your 2nd phase of LC meaning more fruits veggies etc. Then the nutritional plan will be a breeze - the Prto/Carb/Fat ratios are different though. In the fat shredder it's around 50/30/20 the difference between this and LC is the fat intake. Fat takes longer to be assimilated for energy consumption. Carbs(b/c the routines are intense) are good in moderation - with this said, the TRUE "CARB" (bread, pasta) all of the "scary things" on LC are only 1 serving a day depending on the plan you choose. There are lots of VEGGIES, and 1 Fruit per day - I do the portion approach that way i can eat what I want when I want. BTW MARK SISSON you know the daily apple - primal blueprint, is one of the "pros" that was consulted in the design of this program. So When you get the program watch the "how to bring it" video all the way through. READ THE BOOKS! EAT the right foods or you will bonk in your work outs (lose energy) The work outs are intense. The cardio is Intense. You can do them - you must pace yourself - he says in several of his videos "DONT LET YOUR EGO GET IN THE WAY OF PROPER FORM" There is always a modification! If you can't do it the way he does - modify, until you can. Day by day you will get stronger and some days you are going to feel like a swollen balloon b/c of the water retention in your muscles. but you must eat, and drink water. 80% of your results are going to come from what you put in your mouth. It's basically an at home bootcamp. YOU have to bring it, b/c no one else is going to push play for you I am on Day 4 today I have YOGA X this evening and am sooooo looking forward to the stretches. |

I just ordered p90x today and my bf and I are going to do it together. I used to run, but found that I just didn't enjoy it anymore and I haven't really exercised in quite a few years.
I am great about buying gym memberships and never going. I'm hoping since bf and I are both going to do it that I will be motivated to stick with it. I will let you all know when I get the program and start. I'm a bit scared! ![]() |

I've done a round of P90X and still use it along with other DVD's. It was tougher doing it during induction, but if I ate more it was easier to get through. I've gained so much strength from P90X. I

Hey all you folks that recently started, how are you doing? First week is tough but it gets better over time.
I finished round 1 in March and we're about to enter month 3 for round 2. I stayed LC the entire time, though I upped the carbs a bit pre or post workout. Still, my net carb intake is rarely more than 30 gm and never more than 40. Keep pushing play, ignore Katie the annoying girl on back and biceps, and Bring it! |

I have to be honest...I did not stick with it. I started with P90 after two days I quit. It was difficult and boring....however, I am now up a full 10 lbs from my lowest weight and still not exercising. I need to do something. A gym atleast. Im not sure how to get my Mojo...but something has to give!

I'm on week 6 of P90X. The first 4 weeks weren't so bad after doing P90. But the Chest, Shoulders and Triceps dvd (I think that's the right name) which came along in week 5, is really, really hard for me. I was getting "ok" at pushups in P90, but I seem to have gone backwards somehow. And yes, I "presently struggle" with pull ups too.
I really liked recovery week though!RDBhan, you are doing great! How is your dw liking P90X? |

Lily, make sure you're eating enough. P90x burns an average of 500 cal so you may be losing ground because your muscles need feeding. Also, here is a great pre workout snack: full fat Greek yogurt + 1 T peanut butter. 8-10 gm carbs, most of which apparently doesn't count due to the activity of the live culture. Should add some boost to your workout.
As for DW, she really loves it. It's awesome having a workout buddy! She likes Kenpo best and struggles with pull ups, but does better with chin up max. |

I don't like the nutritional guide that came with it very much. My way of eating is basically "no sugar (except in fruit), no refined carbs". I tried the peanut butter yesterday and it did seem to help. With the greek yogurt/peanut butter combo, is it the fat, protein or carbs that is supposed to help with the workout? I really wish I knew more about the nutrition end of it. What do you think of protein powder? We like Kenpo best too! I do P90X with my dd15 and it makes it much better! At first I started with the bands on the pull up bar. Last week I started using a chair. What kind of results did your dw have with the program? Did she follow the same food plan as you? Sorry for all the questions!

Wow I love this thread! Just what I was looking for. I'm doing insanity and I'm also throwing in P90X the weight training portion 3 days a week... But I am having a few difficulties...
Does anyone else feel that they are not losing as much weight as they should be with low carb and the exercise? I'm low carbing staying 20 carbs or less. And I'm within 1200-1500 calories buring anywhere from 500-900 calories in a workout. And I think I need to up my calories. And this may be one reason I'm not experiencing the weight loss I feel I should be. When I started low carbing 3 weeks ago I also started insanity at the same time. Did most of you wait for your body to adjust to low carb before working out? RDBhan would you mind posting examples of your daily meal plan? I know every body is different but I am very curious to see meal plans that people have used successfully and have seen result while remaining low carb. Like you Gilded Lily the nutrition aspect has me so confused. I'm not sure if I should remain high fat low carb. Or switch to high protein moderate fat low carb. Its just all so much and very difficult finding what works for me. lol Anyways any examples of daily meal plans that seems to be working for you would be greatly appreciated! |

Sorry guys, I'm on vacation so haven't posted much.
Lily, I think it's the carbs that help. Eventually you burn up your glycogen stores and your muscles begin to fail more easily. I sometimes add a scoop of Jay Robb whey powder to the yogurt/PB mix. My wife has had nice results, particularly with the second round as she's been pushing herself a little harder. Her diet is still poor, though she started shakeology recently. Loop, I don't know anything about that supplement but here's my typical menu: B: flax seed oatmeal, 2 oz each sliced ham ans steak, 1 egg, coffee L: grilled chicken (5 oz) and salad w/vinaigrette S:1 oz almonds, coffee D: fish or chicken, mushrooms, spinach or asparagus or cauliflower or broccoli Workout: Greek yogurt + peanut butter Total net carbs 25-30, 2200kCal. 65% fat, 8% carbs, 27% protein.

Flax seed oatmeal:
1/4 cup ground flax seed meal 2 T Peanut butter cinnamon and sweetner to taste Add 1/2 cup boiling water and mix. Roughly 3-4 gm Net carbs and 15 gm protein My wife likes the vegan shakeology and uses it for meal replacement. But yes, the carb count is prohibitively high for low carbers. |

Thanks for sharing! Has anyone ever heard or use Jack 3d. I'm thinking about adding it in as a pre-workout stimulant. But I don't know much about it and I'm not looking to bulk up or anything just for an energy boost during my cardio or is it only for weight lifters?

I'm on week 5 of P90X. I admit I HATE the length of each workout. I have yet to get through the Yoga DVD; the most I did was 45 minutes. And I don't do the Ab Ripper, preferring to do my standard 50 sit-ups with a weight. I work 11 hour days and it just eats up so much of my time.
