Don't be hard on yourself Leisha! I struggle to make myself walk and then afterwards I feel so good and I wonder why did I dread it? Right now I'm dealing with hormone issues, stress (isn't everyone these days?) and also with my food. Something about the colder weather and more darkness I guess.

Anyway, we are here for YOU too!

Keep it up everyone! Those holidays are getting closer and that means less and less time for US and more chances to fall off the wagon!
Zumba today...about 50 min...lots of fun and nice to see so many in class to day.

Slimlizzie!!!! I've been thinking about you and missing you too!!!! I tried to send you a private message but I'm not ever sure if they work! I'm so glad to "see" you again! I started out ok here but just can't seem to work exercise in my life for some reason. Not really trying hard enough I guess. It's down there on the bottom of my list with washing the car! These ladies here are good! They do something major everyday!
Hope you're doing great!!!

leisha- my teacher just tells us to "go crazy" and just have fun! I had to learn that and if someone thinks I am dorky well...who cares! I don't move like those young chicks in my class (most are in their 20's and 30's) and the hip hop type moves are very dorky when I do them. LOL I like to dance and have fun and that's all there is to it. Try it out one day and just forget what you look like but how much fun the workout is!
Zumba on Thurs and today was another dog walking day. Accidentally broke the clip that holds the poop bags to the leash so I need to find something to replace it with although since I have to wear a coat now for the walk it can stay in my pocket until I find the right thing.

jeaniem....where in the world are you to still be mowing the lawn?Ours has been brown for weeks now from the frost!

Cathi ..... you make the zumba sound like fun! I have no doubt I would be the biggest dork there doing hip hop moves!

I wish I had exercise to report but I don't. I picked up more pecans today but with that "thing" we have so it's not too much exertion involved. I went to church, to the grocery store, finished all of the laundry and cooked....

I'm sure I didn't use more calories than I consumed today.

I hope y'all have a great week!!

Can't remember if I reported on friday or not...it's all blurring together LOL
Walked the dog on friday and then again today. Oh my it is much colder and rain threatened but no rain or snow. I did shorten the walk a bit since I have a toothache and just didn't feel so hot!
leisha- I can relate to the hip-hop dorky-ness. I decided that I was just born too late to get it right but I like to throw in some 60's and 70's moves instead once in a while LOL
Remember the skate? or the swim? LOL Yeah that's me!

I have been on Very-Low-Carb and Very-Low-Calorie for several months now, and I am almost at my goal weight. As I aproach my goal weight, I am re-introducing foods to my diet, adding healthy carbs and more calories as my weight loss slows down and I inch towards a maintenance lifestyle.

Part of my plan was to go "back to the gym" when I reached my goal weight, to start adding muscle to my frame and re-build my metabolism, as part of my New Year's resolution.

But it occurred to me that maintenance is achieved gradually, as the weight loss slows, the diet gradually changes to a more moderate level, and the exercise needs to be gradually added in so that a good balance can be achieved. If I want to succeed at maintenance, I am going to have to EASE into an exercise routine, at the same time I ease into a more moderate low-carb lifestyle. Until I find the right balance of carbs/calories/activity for a healthy LIFE.

So I went back to the gym today. I took it easy, since it has been months since I graced their doorway with my presence (lol). But I was THERE! I did twenty minutes of some pretty serious intervals on the elliptical trainer, followed by leg presses, an abs workout, plus biceps and triceps. About an hour, total. I will gradually increase it throughout the Holidays so that at New Year's it will be effortless to stick to my resolution because I will already be back in the gym "habit".

Also I am walking my dog more often, in fact, as often as I can. She's put on a few pounds lately as well, so it benefits both of us!

I used to lift very heavy weights and I was headed for bodybuilding. I don't think i will ever want to compete, but my goal is to be strong and fit, not necessarily just skinny. So that way even when I reach my goal weight, I can switch my ticker to fitness related goals instead of weight-related goals.

So, do you all mind if I join you here and post my activities? They are not nearly as impressive as most of yours!

HI Nikki and welcome.
It's been pretty quiet here lately but it's hard for some this time of year.
Your "gentle" day in the gym is very intense to me! LOL I miss weight training but I have a bone spur in my shoulder and so I can't do it until i decide to have surgery in the future.
Congrats on being at your goal and good luck with the hardest part to me and that is maintenance I often tell people..."I know how to lose weight, just not how to keep it from finding me again!".
Walked the dog yesterday (aprox50 min) and she is sure limping with the cold and winter but the Doc says it's good for her. makes me feel so badly but hopefully with her losing weight and the meds working she will feel better and soon!

Thanks! It's been two days and I am still sooooo sore. I am going back to the gym today though. I am going to focus on stretching, cardio, and working some different muscle groups, since clearly the ones I worked the other day are not quite ready for another session today. But I am not going to let that stop me from at least GOING to the gym, even if I keep it light.

My weight has stayed the same, to within a tenth of a pound, over the past two weeks. I am happy with my diet; if anything I need to add more calories. So I started JUDDD-ing and I added this workout. Hopefully I will be able to get rid of these last stubborn fat deposits and get me a metabolism. Soon!

I notice that you have a pretty low goal weight...is it a vanity weight or one that you know you function best at?
I have both in my mind but since I am not weighing I am just going for clothes sizes as goals in the future LOL
Today was the track at the fitness center for about 55 min

Today was the track at the fitness center for about 55 min
My goal weight was originally a temporary weight. The plan was to get down to 115 (which is only slightly low, but is more smack in the middle of my ideal range of 101.5 - 136 for a 5'2" person). Then the plan was to change to a heavy weight lifting regimen after New Year's, to build a strong muscle-based metabolism and work on fitness related goals. I was hoping to maintain at around 120 - 125 after putting on several pounds of muscle.

But, because I have stalled out and I still have quite a bit of fat hanging on my frame, I have decided to start my weight training program before the holidays are over. Since I will be adding muscle in addition to losing fat from here on out, I expect that my weight might stay roughly the same, or creep down slowly.

The reason it is so important to me to add muscle is because the way my metabolism is right now, I can gain wait on 1200 calories a day. I want to be able to eat again! I am trying to re-set my BMR. So my main goal now is actually fitness-related rather than weight related.

I expect to reach my goal weight eventually, because I want to be athletic and strong, but I am in Atkins pre-maintenance right now, so I have decided to take my time with the last several pounds while I build up my metabolism so I can find a good CCLM (Critical Carbohydrate Level for Maintenance) and a decent caloric base for an active lifestyle. I will probably reach my goal weight sometime in the next six months. I am already at my goal size (6); after five more pounds I will be in my "skinniest" clothes (a large 4, small 6).

Then my goals will be:

How many miles can I go?
How fast can I go?
How hard can I set the level on the elliptical?
How much weight can I deadlift? Leg press? Etc.
What does it take to get me winded?
Can I keep up, or even lap 'em, on a backpacking trip with dh & ds?
Can I run up Cowles Mountain with my athletic gf's?
Can I drop kick a potential attacker from here to kingdom come using my mad karate skills?
Can I still dance the Lindy Hop and Jitterbug?

leisha Awww you are so sweet! For me if I don't make the effort to "do something" then I find it is easier to not stick to my woe and my health suffers.
All I can say is that I have been very close to your numbers and trying to get back to that 150 land I made it to about 4 years ago. I just want to get into a skirt/kilt I bought for my Clan events. It is a small size 16...closer to maybe 12 or even a 10 and unless I stay on plan I will never make it so I try to persevere
Today's a dog walking day just short of 4 miles on a cold blustery day as Winnie the Pooh would say!
