Chet, I am with you there about exercising in the morning. I do it as soon as I get out of bed before breakfast. That way I can't talk myself out of it.

Sorry to be so late reporting in. I've been offline this week.

Mel, no, I don't belong to a gym, so I do my weight training at home. I have dumbbells up to 40 pounds, a swiss ball, a simple bench and some bands -- mostly stuff I accumulated while doing physical therapy for an injury over the last few years. (When I graduated from a walker to a cane, the ins. co. decided I had exceded their physical therapy goal for me and cut off coverage, so I've been doing my own rehab at home.) I own a few books on weight lifting and have read many more recommended ones from the library.

Since I last reported, my exercise has been:

1/4 Tues Walk outside 30 mins
1/5 Wed Walk outside 2-1/2 hours (part of this was doing errands, pre-storm)
1/6 Thurs Elliptical 20 mins
1/7 Fri Upper Body Workout 30 mins
1/8 Sat Day off
1/9 Sun Walk outside 30 mins
1/10 Mon Lower Body Workout 45 mins (this was def overdoing)
1/11 Tues Elliptical 22 mins
1/12 Wed Upper Body Workout 30 mins
1/13 Thurs Too icy to walk, so I plan to do Jane Fonda's sun salutation yoga tape.

I am planning another lower body workout tomorrow and try not to kill myself this time. On the other hand, if temps get high enough to melt some of the ice tomorrow, I may substitute a walk and try the workout over the weekend when the next front moves in.

Years ago when I did this every day before breakfast I was doing realy well. Some
of my exercise equipment got lost during a move and I got out of the early morning
daily exercise. I joined a gym and went 3 days a week. Well I quit the gym and started
back exercising at home every morning today makes day 54. I have only lost 10 lbs
but I haven't been dieting. I now feel early morning before breakfast is best for me
as is discused here.

skipped workout today - needed to work overtime. tomorrow will be day 5 instead (then I'll count all the days by end of month and end of year - a good way to welcome 2012?! )

keep up the good work guys, you're my inspiration!

I also read somewhere ( ebook by a body trainer) that exercising on an empty stomach helps to burn fat - more effective for weight loss. The only thing to pay attention is to warm up slowly, so that you don't get your heartbeat up too fast.

I saw something recently about how eating before breakfast does the same thing, maybe the same theory?

I pulled out an old VCR tape, The Firm Maximum Body Shaping

I don't mind the cold too much as long as I don't have to mess with snow and ice. Right now, we have snow and ice.

I remember each time I lost weight quite easily it was when I was working out in the am before breakfast! so I'm moving my workout to the am from tomorrow. Just can't do it on M W due to my work schedule so on those days of the week I'll work out after work.

Walked for 45 min's this morning. I felt like I could of done it for an hour, but I don't want to get to long and burn my self. So I am gonna stick with 45 min's for a week more.

I am not exercising very long just 15min. before breakfast and then I get another 15 to 45 min. spread out through the day. But today is the 56 day in a row. For me I like the
every day thing because if I skip a day it's so easy for me to skip another day thinking
I will make up for it tomorow...... I haven't been "dieting" but have lost about 10lbs and
it does seem to get a little easier. Hope everyone else is doing well today.
