Question on the 10/10 stomach work - is it supposed to hurt by your breat bone? Also, is it normal to have your muscles shake / twitch when you first start out?

Thanks!

How do I target the inner thigh? My outter hips have "melted away" my butt is high (albeit still a bit big- but it is all muscle so I wont begrudge the extra curve) but my inner thighs looked untouched by callanetics. I must be doing something wrong.

Hi Newmama, I'm no expert and I've only done 13 hours of Callanetics and my inter thighs haven't moved much either. But, I have been squeezing the chair until I could feel it in my thighs. Now for me getting to the point of feeling it in my thighs instead of my knees took a lot of trial and error. So, all I can say is don't give up. It sounds like everything else is working for you from all your work with Callanetics. Good Luck

Charlie

newmamma10- I'm jealous that your hips have melted away! That's the area that hasn't changed much for me but my inner thighs have pulled in a lot. The exercises that help with that a lot are the pelvic rotations and the pelvic scoop.

How do you know that it was those two exercises that helpped your inter thigh?

I did my fourth hour of 10/10 this afternoon. I just haven't had time to log it. I'm up to a total of 25 hours since Feb. I can see such a difference in how I look and feel. My hips are definitely looking better but still have that layer of stubborn fat above them.

Charlie-B: I think I read it in one of the books. It went into a lot more detail about the exercises. I'm kinda a Callan addict, lol, I think I've read everything about Callanetics I could get my hands on. Maybe it was also said on the message board at some point. At any rate, just think about it, in that position you are lifting most of your body weight with just your thighs. I always feel it working very intensely in that area.

Aren't we all! Why wouldn't we get addicted to something that gives us a high in every aspect of our person, including our butts!?!

1 hour of 10/10 with Super alternatives, and a couple Super exercises that aren't in 10/10 = 5/17!

Logging in 5/15. Is it better to do the leg / hip exercises with a bar or leaning on the floor? Do you get the same results?

Hi MichMom,

In the leaning on the floor version there is more isolation of the hip and buttock area. The bar version works your sides as well, which is why Callan says you'll eventually be strong enough to not need the bar.

Evolution warmups,legs and arms
2 miles walked = 4/20
Upper body exercises with bands

I have been doing extra hip/behind exercises and am again experiencing that pulling up before pulling in thing. This time I know what to expect so all should be "peachy" in the next couple weeks. I have been doing Callanetics now for a year and am amazed at the continued changes.

Jiggle-I see you are adding in Super. How do you like it? Those kneeling hips and behind get me every time!

edna_skooter:,Thank you for answering my question. You're right it does make a lot sense. I have the Callanetics book copyright in 1984. I've had it so long and haven't read since I got it in the last 80's.

So, after you saying you read it in her book, I took a look and it does say "This series of exercises works on the behind, thighs , inner thighs, lower back, and the stomach. The Pelvic Rotations stretch your thighs completely, while the Pelvic Scoop contracts them totally.

Thank you again,
Charlie

Wow! good for you Mulberry! With your dedication, I'm sure you will definitely see results!

My adding in Super is being done very sneakily and slowly. I'm doing a ten second knee up / ten second leg out and repeat for my balancing arm act. And, as suggested by Sandra, I'm doing my pelvic rotations in both directions all in one go then doing the figure eights. And I've just started adding in the open/close exercise in hopes that it will not only work the areas but help with my flexibility as well. Oh! I'm also incorporating the kneck exercises too, and those are amazing!

Funny you should mention the kneeling exercise. I was just thinking today that that would be the next addition.

OK, so I've finally gotten it all figured out. I'm not sure how this came to happen but today while doing my workout I ended up pretending I was giving a class. Had anybody been home at the time, they probably would have put me in the loony bin.

BUT...I think this was the absolute best workout I've ever had. Maybe it was along the lines of Sandra saying you need to talk to your muscles. But in order to teach a class you really need to know what you're doing and I think that helped me to really concentrate alot harder on my form, etc. For the first time, I felt that pulling in and leaner feeling when I was done. I usually feel as if I've worked out when I'm done but this was totally different. So I figure if that's what it takes, I'll just have to look totally nuts if anyone catches me.

Now, if I wanted to really, really get technical about it, I did actually have a student. My cat likes to join me when I exercise. Usually just to get in my way or attack my hair and feet, but maybe he can be my practice student. I always thought it would be neat to be able to train him to exercise with me.
